  • "Restaurant needs cleaning and design update. We found the carpet to be filthy!!!! My allergies were out of control and there was a bad odor of mildew and dirty old carpet."

  • "The food and the chef were good however they forgot mine. The chef looked at the order and corrected it. I didn't have to tell him what I ordered so obviously it was written down, they just didn't bring it out. Consequently, I was eating my dinner by myself. The server who took care of us however was kinda rude. She didn't smile and was very matter of fact. One of our guests was vegetarian and when I asked for options, she pointed it out on the menu like I was an idiot that couldn't read, when what I was asking was whether they had a veggie tempura DINNER, not just a side dish. She also made several errors on our bill and preceded to blame my friend for the error. For teppan, this place was VERY expensive."

  • "The experience begins with the well landscaped outdoor garden area and Koi pond. It's a unique Japanese restaurant with fun atmosphere. But the menu is not as extensive as Benihana and the prices at Kobe are more expensive. They did not even have an option of seared Ahi Tuna entree."

  • "Quite noisy; very hurried dinner; staff cleaned up arround us as we were eating dinner. Very friendly staff"

  • "We love this restaurant and come when ever we are in town. The food was cooked perfectly, wonderful show from the chiefs and the kids can feed the fish out front."

  • "Food is amazing here! Before the reservation, they called to confirm the reservation and asked the name of my girlfriend that was noted was celebrating her birthday. Come desert time, the recognition never happened. To put "icing on the cake" once the entire table left we stayed to finish our drinks when the hostess asked, "Oh its your birthday huh?" We got up to leave, and they offered us cheesecake to go. Earlier in the night the table next to us was celebrating their anniversary and had witnessed what would have been an amazing treat for my girlfriend. The lack of cheesecake isn't what is upsetting. It's the expectation and excitement that was set before and the execution that fell way short. Especially for the price tag."

  • "I have been coming here at least 20 years and consider Kobe a must visit whenever I visit the desert. The food is consistently excellent, the chefs entertaining, and the staff attentive. They have done some remodeling over the years, but still have the same quality atmosphere. Full of families and friends enjoying the great food and service, so make a reservation to ensure your place at the teppanyaki table!"

  • "Loved the Chef - he was super fun and his jokes help lighten the quite mood. He prepared the food exactly how we all wanted. There was an issue because a party needed (for health reasons) to have a special request...although the Chef handle the situation in a discreet and proper manner, the on-duty Manager did not. The manager made a big deal and embarrassed the lady over her special needs. the time was great, the food VERY filling and the Chef awesome. The only down side is that a bit more moving space for each person would have been better - instead of fitting 7-8 people on a side, there should be a max of 6 people - with food and drinks and so forth it got a bit crowded."

  • "Food was fantastic. Waitress was great Chef cooked awesome but not entertaining as much as other chefs. Had coupon which manager would not accept. But we would definitely go back again."

  • "Food was good. Not the quality I expected for Kobe's. Our server was the highlight of our experience. I thought it was pricy for the quality of food. We travel to many places, if the food is really good I dont consider price, but when it is average then I consider the price."

  • "The whole dining experience was amazing. I've been to Kobe Japanese Steak House and it's always a pleasure. The garden is beautiful. The waiting area is the bar/lounge area. The chefs were amazing and told funny jokes while they cook your food. All the staff had great customer service. And most importantly, the food was great. The flavor and tenderness of the filet mignon was amazing. I made a note when I made a reservation that it was my boyfriend's birthday and I didn't even have to remind them the day of. They had a cheese cake and song ready for him. Great customer service, show and food. Highly recommended!"

  • "My wife and I chose this restaurant while vacationing in Palm Springs and the food was amazing! Our chef prepared our food perfectly while the lady helping us with drinks was very fast and polite. We will definately return to Kobe the next time we visit Palm Springs."

  • "As a frequent diner of Kobe's I can tell you it never fails to please. When family comes from out of town it is our "go to" place to eat. The chefs are fun and really try to please. We sat at a table with multiple "picky eaters" and he pleased them all. The steak and shrimp are always on spot .For something different I had the orange roughy this time and I would order it again! The waitress was always on hand with more drinks and clearing used dishes.. One of the most consistently pleasing restaurants in the Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage area."

  • "I have been to Kobe's many, many times and the food and experience is always good. It is not the best fine dining experience you will ever have, but I think you get exactly what you expect from a Teppan restaurant. My only negative comment is that the carpet in the eating area was VERY "sticky" when walking to our tables, which was a bit disgusting. I asked the hostess about it and she said they will be changing the flooring soon, because they understood it was a problem (they have wood floord in the entry way)."

  • "We always loved KOBE and went there often before. However, most of time, the ladies at reception is not efficient and not friendly. They ALWAYS made us wait to to go to table more than 30min. We have a little kid who is always hungry. They asked us what time and we showed up on time but they sometmes send other later commers first etc. They used to have a nice Japanese lady who understood kids' situation and tried to accomodate. But we did not see her recently. That is the reason why we have decided not to go so often any more. This time was special because my daughter's birthday but again they made us wait 45min!!! It was pity because the food was always great but jst receotionist was bad and not efficient."

  • "I had a birthday dinner party for 7 people. We was 10 mins late but we still got a table fast and didn't wait at all. The whole place is awesome from outside in. The kids love the koi pond and garden outside. But I think we was the unlucky ones that got the most boring chef! I usually don't care for the tricks and stuff but since I was with the kids I expected at least the chef to try. Especially when the kids could see other tables getting a great show! The food was good quality I give them that but when it cost $12.50 to split a dinner in half that disappointed me. Benihanas don't even do that! Overall we still had fun and the food was good but I expected way more from KOBE especially on how it was more expensive than Benihanas"

  • "Finally, at long last, I can say I am impressed with my dining experience at a restaurant. The staff at Kobe's had an energy that made me smile for the first time in a long time. I felt welcomed, entertained, appreciated and surrounded by happy people! Oh, and the meal was delicious too! Thank you Kobe's for making our family reunion special."

  • "Kobe's is a fun, easy paced, friendly place to have dinner. They make you feel comfortable, like you are dining with a big group even when its just the two of you. The Chef's are amazing and funny (corny funny but great). The waitresses are very attentive and gracious. We live out of the area but still go to Kobe's about 4 time a year. (Its a 140 mile round trip and worth it)"

  • "Food was fresh and tasty, but our table chef was pretty weak on the "entertainment" portion of the cooking. whatever training they go thru, he needed a refresher course."

  • "A great dining experience. Kobe is an excellent setting for large family gatherings and the food is very flavorful. We enjoy the ambiance provided by dinning with large groups. "

  • "My first time and it was fun. My date hadn't ever been either. We enjoyed ourselves and a family of eight was at our same table celebrating a birthday. It was fun, but I wouldn't come here for romance, it's just not that kind of place. Zero privacy. Cocktails were pretty good, not perfect but certainly no complaints. The patio out front is cool too, lots of hungry Coi you can feed. Go, it's worth a visit and you won't regret it. "

  • "It was almost everything i remember, as we've been visiting this restaurant since the 80s. There should be a dress code, but there isn't. The food is consistently great. Service is always gracious and top notch! Even a nice slice of cheesecake for the birthday girl. Dinner for four with drinks and sushi appetizers was under $200 during the earlybird time. This is no place for little babies or ball caps or tee shirts, or flipflops, all of which i was surprised to see. I didn't appreciate the cheap silverware and the disposable chopsticks. The grounds and restaurant are spectacular for pictures."
