  • "This restaurant at the Fairmont Kea Lani is one of only three options for dinner at the hotel. The food was average, especially for the high price - $280 for three, which included only one glass of wine. The waiter was good, but the kitchen was slow. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive from the time we ordered at 8:30 pm."

  • "From the Molokini Tini through the Pao Doce Frito our dinner was AMAZING! One of the best dinning experiences on our recent vacation to Maui. Loved every dish we had...but if I chose a favorites it would be the Sugar Cane Skewered Prawns and Scallops w/Pancit Noodles or the Zarzuela both were simply gastronomic perfection. Chef Pang solidly delivers on his theme of "cuisine inspired by the sugarcane plantation era" and it was a very refreshing departure from the Macadamia Nut Crusted Cuisine served up by many establishments on Maui. (I am not knocking the Macadamia Nut Cuisine) I highly recommend KO to anyone visiting Maui. We were staying in Wailea but it would be worth the drive from Kaanapali/Lahaina. I'll be back!"

  • "We had a reservation for 7pm. When we arrived, we were initially completely ignored. When our presence was finally acknowledged after about 5 minutes, and the reservation confirmed in their system, we were made to wait another 15 minutes before we were seated, with no specific seating area allocated for the wait. We were seated in a busy walkway, with no view. The service was very poor indeed. It was difficult to attract our server's attention, and we had to resort to asking another server to accommodate our needs. The food was also quite disappointing. We have dined here previous holidays, and had enjoyed the experience, but this time it felt if we were in a dining hall where everyone had to fend for themselves. We're no hurry to return."

  • "The veggie tempura was cooked perfectly but it is what it is, not an appetizer that wows you (could be jazzed with better dipping sauces). The ginger steamed makai was over powered by the miso broth and disappointing; had been our server's top recommendation. The shrimp & scallop skewers were fine but nothing to rush back for. Bottom line: other restaurants have better food with an ocean view (instead of the hotel pool). Service was friendly and attentive. Was our first time there and with 2 months remaining in paradise, we'll not be returning to Ko."

  • "This was a lovely dinner;great food, fresh seafood, delicious flavors, perfect service, pretty view, romantic setting. We had oishii sushi, I had the fresh catch in ginger sauce, my husband had lobster tempura, and it was all outstanding. This was our best meal on Maui, by far. Go to Ko!"

  • "Ko offers a variety of Asian (Chinese, Filippino, Japanese, Korean, to name a few) and Hawaiian cuisine-all done very well. Ingredients are high quality and fresh. Preparation is authentic with Hawaiian influences. The food is not Pan Asian like Spago's, Mala, Gannon's, but more of an upscale version of Asian cooking, Hawaiian style. Service is attentive, friendly and pleasant. We are a family of four (11 and 14 year old children) and Ko is one of our favorite restaurants on Maui."

  • "Everything from the drinks to dessert was perfect. Also, our waiter was so sweet and really got to know us. As with all Fairmont restaurants (which is why I choose them over other luxury hotels), they offer great veggie options for vegetarians and dietary restricted meals. They have an entire "Special Dietary" menu! Although this hotel restaurant does not sit right on the ocean with the views the outside dinning area is beautiful, serene and romantic. Also, the live music was great! Highly recommend checking out Ko even if you aren't staying here and are in the Wailea area."

The service was quicker than the last time we visited Ko and I was pleasantly surprised being that it was a busy night.   • "We took our distinguished psychologist friend out to Ko for his 78th birthday. We were late for our reservation, but the staff just smiled and seated us with members of our party that had already arrived and were waiting. When the Ko staff found out it was a b-day celebration, they gave the birthday boy a beautiful lei and made him a custom dessert with a Happy Birthday message written in chocolate sauce. The food, service, and ambiance were all amazing and the staff was very kind and friendly to us. They immediately fulfilled special requests with smiles and made us feel like we were the focus of their attention. Not overdone, but nothing went lacking the entire evening. What a wonderful place! "

There is a very good selection of wines, and both the food and wine prices are reasonable. The service was friendly, knowledgeable in both the wines and the food, and attentive. We never felt rushed or pushed in any way. The atmosphere is quite casual, although you could certainly make it a special evening should you wish, but ask for a pool side seat. We enjoyed our dining experience at Ko and it certainly made our last night in Maui a memorable one."

  • "We absolutely loved this restaurant. It was laid out in a way that each table felt fairly private. It overlooked the pool, which was quiet at night. The service was great, and the food was unique. The only reason for the 4 star rating overall is that on the urban spoon website, the price per entree is listed as $15-25, however it is much higher. This was not a problem for us, but I just think people need to know. Our total bill for two people was $140 before tip, and we did not have any drinks."

  • "We went to Ko for a special dinner in Maui having dined the previous nights at Spargo's (at the Four Seasons) and Tommy Bahamas Restaurant (at the Shops at Wailea). Spargo's & Tommy Bahama's were excellent. Ko was appalling! We had tropical cocktails - my wife's was supposedly Ko's "signature cocktail", mine a pineapple martini. Both were harsh, tasted more like margaritas than martinis, and were overly acidic. I opted for their seafood paella. The dish lacked cohesion - it was not a true paella which fuses many flavors. Rather it was simply decent shellfish sitting atop a bland bowl of saffron rice, with lumps of dark chicken meat thrown in. My wife had the lobster tempura. It was more like a large shrimp than a lobster."

  • "Chef Tylun Pang is amazing. The Kobe beef poke is one of my favorite appetizers. Wow! For our entrees, our table of 4 had the Lobster Tempura, Chap Chae (new on the menu), the whole fried fish (my wife's favorite) and the Ginger Hoisin Pork Chop --everything was amazing. (We passed our plates around so we could sample each dish.) For desert, the Pao Doce Frito is just unbelievable! It's a Portuguese sweet bread doughnut stuffed with coconut gelato, rolled in vanilla sugar and with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. It was ono (delicious)! The staff is one of the most knowledgeable and friendliest that we have ever encountered. Misty is a great Ambassador of Aloha! The food and service makes for one of the most memorable dining experiences."

  • "We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani for 5 nights in March and tried all their dining options. We booked KO as our fine dining evening and we're very disappointed. As we learned, the restaurant is more of a casual dining option for families with young children - which is fine - but I think the sheer number of guests overwhelmed the kitchen. It took over an hour for us to receive our appetizers of miso soup. After that another 30-45 minutes for the main course. The servers apologized many times saying the kitchen was backed up. We thought the food was ok - nothing great. We also at at Nicks - which had better service. My advice - skip this restaurant."
