Knife & Fork InnTraditional and always wonderfulWe went to the Knife and Fork for our anniversary. We discovered they have a happy hour daily from 4 to 6:30 that includes half-price appetizers at the bar. Drinks were great, bartenders skillful and friendly, food terrific. Do not miss the crab and avocado terrine with creme fraiche! We ate in the upstairs dining room and Omar, our wonderful waiter, took great care of us. Food was yummy--halibut, served with a stew of chick peas and cherry tomatoes and soft shell crabs sautéed with garlic, also available in a Thai version. Omar appeared with a mini cake with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate across the plate. We and felt like we were catered to by expert staff, who really behave like they love their jobs and customers. Recommended!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion eveningThis was our first visit to the Knife and Fork. The bar was welcoming and created a great atmosphere for the rest of the evening. The restaurant area we were seated in was upstairs. Again, the decor was unique, pretty windows, and the room was not too large. I had the seafood Oscar, yum...and my husband had the lobster/steak special. I'd bet we would have enjoyed anything we ordered. The portion was large enough not to need a side which I thought I would need because the waiter said everything was a la carte. It is a special occasion evening...and an any occasion evening.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMJoe and I would just likeJoe and I would just like to thank the Knife and Fork
for helping to make our 39th wedding anniversary a very enjoyable one!!! Our server, Heidi, who has been our server before, is wonderful!! We thank them for honoring our request for a table on the porch overlooking the ocean! Our food was delicious and served in a relaxing manner and the special anniversary cake dessert was a delightful surprise! We love dining at the Knife and Fork!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time here,This was our second time here, we enjoyed it at much as we did the first time. I had the lobster thermidor which was excellent, he had the 16oz sirloin which was excellent also. We had the iceberg wedge with bleu cheese dressing which we split which was perfect.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWe had a reservation and called to let them know we would be a little late...well we were more then a little late and it was no problem! No eye rolling, no attitude...it was refreshing!
Food was stellar and service superb. Would def go back for a fourth time!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the history of the restaurantLoved the history of the restaurant. Happy hour great, bartenders professional and friendly. Great crowd. Dinner upstairs excellent, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Plan to return many times.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy boyfriend and I went toMy boyfriend and I went to here to have a nice romantic dinner while we were on vacation. It was wonderful! The design is unique and very nicely decorated. We got the lobster spring rolls as an appetizer. They were very good! I had ordered the crab cake and my boyfriend had scallops. My boyfriend still cannot stop raving about how good the scallops were. My dish was delicious, it had no filler in it and was full of jumbo lump crab. I was a little disappointed that it was paired with an Asian Pear Slaw, which had cilantro in it. It overtook the taste of the crab and was too strong of a flavor. That is the only reason I gave food a 4 instead of a 5. Everything else, including the service was outstanding!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGo Here You Will Not Regret it!I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. We (3 couples) went for dinner on a Sunday night. We walked from the Tropicanna, on the boardwalk. We were greeted immediately and taken upstairs to our table. The waitstaff were attentive and courteous. They answered all our questions, made good suggestions to help us decide what to eat. All special requests were made with no problem, when making dietary substitutions. The food was awesome, cook to specification and a generous portion. We were celebrating a birthday, and a special cake was delivered with flourish! Nobody had a single complaint, and while we noticed the restaurant was crowded, and possibly noisey it was not distracting. I do not recall having to yell or talk loud to be heard.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a fabulous dinning experienceThe knife and fork is an excellent restaurant in every way: service, food, professionalism of staff etc.
I went for a special birthday dinner with family and we were seated within 5 minutes by a friendly
hostess and sat at a wonderful table with a very professional server. I wish I knew her name, she was
great, just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. It's probably pretty tough to get the
combination right, asking if your need anything the correct amount of times. Now, the food was just
unbelievable. I had the filet of flounder and it was cooked perfectly with a light sauce that was just
complimented the fish without overwhelming it.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceFrom the moment we sat down, to the time we left, everything was wonderful. The manager and hostess were terrific. Our server, Casey, was amazing. The food was delicious (crab cocktail, wedge salad, steak, lobster & soft shell crabs) and cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWas looking for a specialWas looking for a special place for my wife's Birthday during our visit to Atlantic City and found it at the Knife and Fork Inn. Fresh tasting and different varieties. braised short ribs were outstanding5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGood foodGood food and atmosphere. Never had a bad meal or poor service. However, my 12 oz filet this past Saturday was dry and not juicy, but did have good flavor.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMrelaxingAlways feel comfortable, the staff tends to you, usually sit in the same area where Bridget makes sure we come back, she hasn't let us down yet. The dishes are always well prepared and delicious. Thanks for being our favorite spot.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to Knife and Fork forI went to Knife and Fork for dinner with six friends for my Bachelorette Party and was very impressed. Our appetizers were excellent and everyone loved their entrees and sides. I was a little disappointed with the desserts (we had the baked Alaska and cheesecake) but everything else made up for it. Our server was outstanding and the ambience was great. I look forward to coming back to Knife and Fork on future trips to Atlantic City!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery special place!I was so happy we chose Knife and Fork restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. From the minute we walked in the door til the time we left they made us feel special. He was wished a happy birthday upon entering the door and even the waitress wished him a happy birthday. Our meal and service were outstanding and at the end they brought my husband a delicious chocolate birthday cake. When we left he was wished yet another happy birthday. A perfect ending to a perfect experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother fine dining experience.....Went to the Knife & Fork to celebrate my sister's birthday. What a nice time we had. Food, atmosphere, service (Bridget)...simply the best! Thank you so much!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary Dinner! My wife and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary Dinner at The Knife and Fork. Food was great ... many choices for many tastes. From the initial greeting though the special Anniversary dessert ... very nice experience.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Favorite Restaurant! My husband and I are not frequent visitors to AC, but we do go about once a year and only now found out about this restaurant. Since it was our anniversary, we wanted to go somewhere "special" and decided to try the Knife & Fork Inn. We both loved the food so much that afterwards we even talked about making the 3 hour drive next time just to eat there! I had the filet, and it was awesome. My husband had the flounder and crab, and he said it was amazing. He also said the onion soup was the best he ever had. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and we would recommend this restaurant to anyone!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSurpasses your expectations.Surpasses your expectations. One of our favorites.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways delicious and high qualityThis is one of our favorites and we will be back again. We had marvelous steak perfectly prepared. Delicious cocktails. Nice wines by the glass served in the "good" glasses. Nothing comes with steak and you must order ala carte veggies. The puffed out potato slices are novel and delicious. We were two people and seated between two tables of four that were both very loud. Tables too close on the first floor. Also since restaurant not that busy on Friday night before summer, the food came quickly and we were done in a little over an hour which is too fast for fine dining and those high prices .5/17/2013 12:00:00 AM3 out of 4 = a returnI had a warm spinach salad which was very good. A little disappointed with the lamb chops. Two of the three were a bit tough, and the third one was cut too thick. The rosemary flavored mashed potatoes were excellent, the dinner rolls served with meal a bit dry and not as flavorful. The white chocolate mousse Napoleon was excellent, perfect size, fresh fruit and a flaky pastry, nicely presented. My husband ordered tuna served on a bed of stir fried veggies, perfectly seasoned with Asian flavor, and a very good quality tuna. I should have ordered tuna as well. Was there on another occasion with friends and just ordered appetizers and salad, they were yummy which is why I returned. So one disappointment out of four means I would return.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBoardwalk Empire DiningNucky ate at this 1912 gem and should anyone visiting Atlantic City. American fare from an era when that was all that needed to be said. The family of Dock's Ouster House have revived a true jewel.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI remember the Knife & ForkI remember the Knife & Fork when I was a child, coming here with my parents. It is as good as ever...even better.
Highly recommend the Lobster Thermador.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best!As always, the Knife & Fork is AC's best. It's a great experience-- the service is on point and even fellow diners are friendly and add to the atmosphere. The portions are generous, but be sure to save room for desert.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMForget the casino restaurantsIt's worth a trip to The K&F Inn for a fantastic meal with impeccable service. Don't miss the Parmesan crusted Brussels sprouts with horseradish sauce. I am still savoring the taste! The steak was juicy and succulent and you could cut it with a butter knife. And who wouldn't want to have a meal in a place with over 100 years of AC history? Just go. You'll thank me.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite placeMy husband and I love going to the Knife and Fork when we are down in our home in Brigantine. We always know we are going to get a great meal!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! This was our 1st time dining at the Knife &Fork Inn in Atlantic City, NJ and I certainly hope it won't be the last. Service was excellent, and our meals were perfection! It's not inexpensive, but certainly is a better value than the casino restaurants and hands-down offers more charm, service, and outstanding food selections. My husband and I go out to dinner nearly every Saturday night, and I can honestly say this was the best meal that I've had in a restaurant in YEARS. One of the best ever!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but worth it.Ambiance is great. Menu correctly structured. Service wonderful. Wine choices by the glass good.
Worthy of another visit. Expensive date.
Only negative- have to climb stairs to second level . Not sure if there is an elevator.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experienceFirst time there so we didn't know what to expect. Food and portion size were excellent, we already recommended it to our neighbors.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a wonderful dinnerThis was our fourth dinner at the K & F, and all four have been a delightful experience. The food is top notch; cooked just right with ample portions. The wait staff is courteous and professional. The dining room downstairs is cozy yet nicely spaced. The K&F will always be our restaurant of choice for special occasions.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDecided it was time to tryDecided it was time to try the Knife and Fork? Went there on an early Sunday evening, so it wasn't bustling with activity. The building and the interior does have a lot of character. The bartender started us off with a pleasant manner. We found the food, halibut, to be excellent. It actually exceeded our expectations. The only quibble we had was with the wine list. I suggest a few more bottles in the 40-50 range. The bottle we had was fair. All in all, a very good occasion. Let's not price yourselves out of consideration, however.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Place!A big hats off to all the staff! Jennifer the Barmaid and our waiter Murph! We had an excellent time and the food was fantastic! Be back again the next time in town! Staple!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded my expectationsI'd heard that the Knife and Fork was a good restaurant, but It's much better than good, it's great. I'd suggest that you order the brussel sprouts even if you're not a fan of brussel sprouts, and I want to thank our waitress for suggesting them. The restaraunt is beautiful, and perfect for a special occasion.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSome Boardwalk history with SteakAn historic beauty with impeccable service, a great menu, and very good execution of same. I believe the Commodore would've been proud.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food and old-time atmoshereWe had early dinner reservations at 5PM. We were alone in one of the rooms for half of our dinner. The service was great, a wonderful wine list and the food was fantastic. I had the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. My firend had a fish dish which was great. Both came with asparagus and we ordered herb roasted potatoes. Meat, fish potatoes and veggies were the best. I would recommend this restaurant and I'm planning to go again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderfuloverall it was a wonderful dining experience... I would urge you to try this restaurant...5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem!Found this restauant driving into AC. Building is on a corner and beautiful with valet parking in back. Feels like the kind of place Sinatra would have held strategy meetings with a beautiful bar, tin ceiling, and historic photos of AC on the walls. My party had no issues with the noise level. All of us had a great meal. Between the five of us we had the calamari appetizer (light and fresh), wonderful steaks, delicious rack of lamb, and the scallop special with risotto that was to die for. Also had sides of spinach, au gratin potatos, and the beet chips, which are a delightful surprise. Dessert menu was a dissapointment, nothing unique: cheesecake, lava cake, creme brule. Desserts were good, but did not wow us like the entrees did.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place, highly recommendNice place. Food was excellent and service were very good. Seems to cater to older clientele as most people there were 50+. The portion sizes were enormous. I had a 12 oz filet mignon and I have to say it was the largest filet I had ever seen and thickest. Ordered sides of mushrooms and potatoes and those were quite large. They were enough for 3 people. I had leftovers of everything including the steak and it was great the next day. They even brought a chocolate dessert out as they heard it was my girlfriend's birthday. There was definitely some confusion there as her birthday was a month prior but we didn't let it go to waste. It was really excellent. We would definitely come back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eat!!!An excellent meal and the wait staff were great! Wife and I visited for dinner one evening and had a great meal. Both meals were well cooked and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had what we wanted.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food great ambianceAwesome food great ambiance historic restaurant would recommend this place to anyone4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAll I Can Say is WOWAll I can say is WOW. We were hesitant to give up going to Dock's Oyster House but decided to try Knife & Fork. We had a fantastic meal. They had an excellent selection of beers. The perfectly cooked scallops and a soft-shell crab started the meal. I followed with the Cowgirl Ribeye which was one of the most delicious steaks (cooked properly) I have ever had topped with loads (and I do mean loads) of crab salad. My husband had the flounder which he raved about. Our side dishes were scalloped potatoes that were full of flavor and perfectly steamed spinach. We ended by sharing a yummy creme brulee topped with fresh berries and good coffee. We will definitely be returning. Service was attentive without being intrusive.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I dine outMy husband and I dine out frequently and were very happy with the service, food and charm of the restaurant. Todd, our server, was very knowledgable about the menu and made outstanding recommendations.
My husband had the octopus salad and I had the tomato / mozzarella cheese to start. Both were very good. For the main course we both had steak - cowboy ribeye (blue cheese bechamel) and filet (au poivre) with a size of the lobster risotto. The blue cheese was excellent, the au poivre was just ok - not what we expected. The lobster risotto had large pieces of lobster which was wonderful, however the risotto sauce was 'odd'. It was cheesey, almost velvetta like.
Overall, our experience there was very good and highly recommend it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAtlantic City ClassicLooking for a classic meal in Atlantic City - delightful ambiance, delicious food and friendly and professional staff? The Knife & Fork is the place for you. This timeless (built in 1912) landmark at the corner of Atlantic and Pacific Avenues contains a gem of a restaurant, which is our "go to" place when my wife and I have to spend the night in Atlantic City. Unaffiliated with any casino, devoid of trashy casino patrons, the K&F exudes charm. But charm only gets you so far, and the dining here is first rate. We're partial to the yellow beet & goat cheese salad, but there are many options, and both seafood and steaks are equally featured and equally good. Top quality products, perfectly prepared. Don't miss the Knife & Fork!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI am grateful to the DoughertyI am grateful to the Dougherty Family has had the faith to invest in keeping this Old AC gem still a wonderful place to go!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeef and Reef was excellent,Beef and Reef was excellent, cooked to perfection.
