Under the direction of new owner Frank Dougherty, the legendary Knife & Fork has just completed an extensive renovation aimed at restoring and enhancing this Atlantic City landmark. Featuring a brand new, state-of-the-art kitchen, expanded bar and lounge area, as well as ocean views from the main dining rooms, the Knife & Fork is once again the place to see and be seen in Atlantic City. The Knife & Fork's new menu, featuring the finest steaks and seafood prepared on a wood-fired grill, is complemented by an extensive wine list and 10,000 bottle wine "cellar."   • "A 70th birthday celebration was all that we had hoped it would be - fun with delicious food and good conversation. The oysters were fresh and briny; the salads were varied and tasty; and the tuna tartare was a treat. Soft shell crabs turned out to be the winning entree, although the halibut came in a close second. Thanks to our server, Casey, the cocktails started off the evening with a reak kick and we never stopped going from there. he was very attentive, professional and helpful. We will be back."

The food was outstanding and so was the service. The server overheard my birthday toast to my daughter and at the end of the meal, much to our surprise she brought her a cupcake with a candle. As we were leaving the manager wished her a happy birthday. It was wonderful."

  • "Waitress was excellent, she was busy but her service was great. She was very friendly and never cut us short. Food was ok. No one really raved about their dinner for the price we payed. I had veal chop stuffed with broccolili. Veal was very hard to cut. Don't know why. Had blueberry tart dessert but the crust was so hard I could not cut it, had to chop it with my fork. I've been to knife and fork 3-4 times and enjoyed the food but I rated my meal about 3star. My friends took their meals home. The filet and lobster meals were not that large that they could not eat them, don't know why they didn't finish them. They said the meal was excellent but they were full but still ordered dessert. I will come back because I really enjoy the ambience"

We started with sharing a freshly made shrimp/avacado cobb salad....loved it...Enjoyed my rack of lamb, better after it was reheated, hubby also enjoyed his filet after reheated......fried beet chips were very tasty! We would go back and try some dessert next time!"

Nice sides (don't miss those beet chips), and salads too. Pretty rooms but the walk upstairs can be tricky for some (but again, the person who confirmed our reservation asked ahead of time if stairs would be a problem.) Pricey? I guess so, but I did not feel cheated like I have felt in some of the casino restaurants."

I must say the food was as always great but the service this time was terrible. We were a party of 6 and the 45 minute wait between appetizers and main course was unacceptable . What was really wrong was that no one came to us to explain or apologize . My son final got up to ask the waitress when we would expect our meal! Where was the manager?? No apology or drinks or anything. My husband was furious and it was a very expensive dinner to say nothing of the aggravation."

  • "Everything about the Knife & Fork Inn was terrific. The valet for the valet parking was so polite and well dressed, our waiter (Todd) was knowledgeable and attentive and the food was delicious. We had an early reservation (6pm) and we were glad because we were able to see the beauty of the restaurant before it filled up with people. I had a whiskey sour which I rarely order because most places can't make one and it was great. At the table, hits included soups, scallops, porterhouse pork, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. We were too full for dessert. It was an early Father's Day dinner and we will be back the next time we are in Atlantic City. The Knife & Fork Inn is a special place."

Knife and fork has that old school charm and relaxed atmosphere of a sophisticated I'm still restaurant. Perfect for an evening out or a romantic date night!   • "Lobster dish - so so , Lobster Asparagus soup no taste whatsoever. Cowboy steak had to be sent back - chewy could not cut with knife. Veal chop entree and scallop appetizer excellent. Don't order a mixed drink - there was literally no liquor - had to order a shot to add to drink. Considering the price of the food you would think that they would not have to skimp on liquor. Not greeted upon arrival. Three young girls just standing at the hostess desk. Regulars taken right away. I would try the restaurant again -maybe. It was a Saturday evening so the main chef most probably was on that night. For the price, I expected much better."
