The food was delicious but the
scene was a little busy. Also the service seemed hectic. Otherwise delicious and staff was very courteous."

This place is a must try for
Japanese food lovers. The fish is always amazingly fresh! The seared albacore with shaved truffles is a must have despite the price tag ($38/ plate!!!) Overall a great and solid restaurant from Chef Katsu-Ya. The patio area is a bit small, however I seems to appreciate it much better than the dining room. The sushi bar is always lots of fun to discover new dishes and get the goodies from your sushi Chefs ;)"

The food was great. The lobster
tempura was addictive. I reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for a casual dinner on a Friday night. Very crowded, and small though. Bring your own wine wouldnt hurt either. $20 corkage fee though."

Kiwami is very good; a little
pricey but well worth it."
Dined on 2/13/2014
Looking forward to getting back
soon...really reasonable and great for lunch!"
Dined on 2/10/2014
The sushi at Kiwami is so good I
don't know if I crave sushi or if I crave Kiwami sushi! The quality of the fish is outstanding and combinations of flavors is pure perfection."
Dined on 2/7/2014
The atmosphere at Kiwami is always
warm & welcoming - and the fish fresh and yummy. Selections are incredible. Perfect for a simple dinner or a special evening out."
Dined on 2/5/2014
Another great dinner at Kiwami.
The service was as exceptional as the food. Kiwami is one of the only sushi places where I feel like they aren't rushing you through your meal."
Dined on 1/31/2014
recently had lunch at Kiwami with
my son and daughter. Not always knowing what to order we relied on the wait staff to help us. They were remarkable and we ate the best sushi that i have ever had. Very delicate flavors and texture, oh my. Great place to go...."
Dined on 1/28/2014
Kiwami is part of the Katsuya
chain in Los Angeles but they are somewhat better in quality and higher in $$$ for the sushi. The sushi is served very well appointed and always fresh tasting with excellent accompanying daikon, sea salt, lemon etc. by very knowledgeable and seasoned sushi chefs. The fare is consistent but best on Tuesdays and Fridays as these are fish shopping days."
Dined on 1/25/2014
food always enjoyable, The staff
is friendly , courteous, professional and efficient."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Excellent variety of classic and
fusion dishes. First class service. Thank you!"
Dined on 1/23/2014
I dined with a colleague on a
monday night. We had to wait about 15 minutes when we had a reservation as they seated walk-ins before us. The service was inattentive and slow. (There were people who sat down at the sushi bar about 30 minutes after us, were served first, and left before us)!?!?. The food was delicious but it was a forgettable exerience."
Dined on 1/20/2014
From the minute we walked in, the
hostess made us feel so welcome. The food, as always, was superior. Just delicious. The service was incredible also - they brought a basket to put our purses in so we didn't have to set them on the floor, our water glasses were constantly refilled, and the server was happy to answer any questions. On this night, the manager impressed us as well. My daughter bumped her nose and hurt herself. The manager brought her a bag of ice and, at the end of the meal, a special ice cream treat. We really appreciated the gestures."
Dined on 1/19/2014
Delicious! Top notch service.
Inventive fusion selections as well as traditional favorites. Thank you."

There are many sushi joints along
Ventura in Studio City, but this ranks among the best. Selection, freshness, flavor, presentation and service are impeccable."

Fantastic Sushi and very friendly
Sushi chefs love the quality of the fish and the attentiveness of the staff"

We enjoyed swift and friendly
service, great food and wine. Definitely recommended."

Excellent food, lovely ambience,
expertly served! A real find in the Valley, lunch and dinner."
Dined on 12/30/2013
We were seated 30 minutes after
our reservation which was frustrating. The service was a bit clumsy but still acceptable. While the food was still above average the quality has taken a noticeable turn for the worse over the last several months. The dishes just don't seem to be prepared as skillfully or carefully as they uses to be. I left feeling disappointed for the second or third time in a row unfortunately. It looks like it might be time to find a new favorite sushi place."
Dined on 12/27/2013
I have been to Kiwami at LEAST a
dozen times, and this will be the last. We had reservations at 5:30, and were seated promptly. We ordered only THREE items- sashimi salad and trio mini handrolls (from the happy hour menu), and 1 order of uni sushi. The salad and uni arrived after TWENTY minutes, and the hand rolls arrived at 55 minutes, with the announcement that it was last order time for happy hour. The server said everyone arrived at once, so the sushi chef was backed up. Although the servers themselves were very nice, that is a lame excuse for a sushi restaurant with 5 chefs. Perhaps they have become too popular - it's time for me to move on."
Dined on 12/27/2013
Simply the best sushi experience,
with all my favorites from Katsu-ya plus a few specialties. Divine."
Dined on 12/27/2013
So of course this is KIWAMI and
while it was my first time there, I still felt it a tad over priced for some items. Service was good - not very good but good. I would go back but there are so many really good sushi restaurants in our L.A. area, don't have to rush."
Dined on 12/3/2013
All I can say is "WOW!" I just had
the most amazing dining experience! Everything I put in my mouth was absolutely delicious!!!! Even the manager came over to check on us several times. Her name is Mitsue, and she was extremely attentive and hospitable. We loved it all. You MUST try this Katsu-ya group restaurant!"
Dined on 12/7/2013
Kiwami's sushi is on a totally
different playing field compared to many of the other Ventura Blvd sushi offerings! Everything here is exceptional!"
Dined on 12/12/2013
Kiwami offers the best of their
menu in their lunch special. The quality of the fish and the combination of flavors is outstanding. Not to be missed"
Dined on 12/16/2013
It wasn't my first visit to Kiwami
and I'm a fan of all of the Katsuya Group's establishments. That said, I had a very disappointing experience on my last visit. The food was so-so, the service was unattentive. All very uncharacteristic of what I normally expect at their restaurants. I am much more unlikely to go back after this last experience there."
Dined on 12/14/2013
Love this place! Some if the best
sushi in the Los Angeles area!"
Dined on 12/1/2013
The sashimi was fresh and
delicious. Had a great selection of fish. Ambiance is typical sushi restaurant. Miley Cyrus was there with a group of friends...what more can I say"
Dined on 12/1/2013
Kiwami never disappoints. They
have added new menu items, including a hot seafood dish and tempura corn that are perfect in this fall weather. We enjoyed their perfect Japanese pumpkin and albacore sushi, as always."
Dined on 11/29/2013
Unfortunately, the kitchen was
inexplicably backed up and dinner took two hours."
Dined on 11/26/2013
Really excellent sushi, great
sushi bar staff. We go often, sit at the sushi bar, order a couple of favorites, then ask our chef to choose for us. He always chooses well, we try things we would not normally order, and have never been disappointed. Most of their sushi is already seasoned, and he lets us know "no soy sauce" when he hands us the order. We just love going here, couldn't recommend higher."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Our experience at Kiwami, was, as
always, wonderful. The staff are Endlessly polite, responsive ,& helpful. The food was delicious, and the ambience is lovely. It is one of our favorite places"

Very fresh fish. Wide selection of
interesting dishes. Attentive service. Thank you"

Two of my friends came to the
Valley from the West Side, as I recommended Kiwami. Our reservation was for 6:30, and we promptly showed up then. We ordered a lot of sushi and specials, which were all delicious. Plus, my two friends shared saki, and had it refilled often. Our check was over $250. At 8:03 the waitress, or as she later described herself, MANAGER, came to our table and asked us to leave… saying that they needed the table. We were mortified. THat has never happened to any of us, and we are very successful women who dine out in the finest restaurants. When she saw how shocked we were, she offered to have us sit at the sushi bar…. but we chose to leave. We asked for the owner's contact information. OUTRAGEOUS!"
Dined on 11/9/2013
The happy hour menu is the same,
but the servings are getting a little smaller. The sashimi salad used to have big slices of scallop, but now you get a couple slivers. The quality is still top notch excellent, so smaller servings is still better than lower quality. Still an excellent place for a treat of the best sushi you will find anywhere. I recommend the hand roll trio and sashimi salad from the happy hour menu."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Consistently excellent food,
excellent service. Love the happy hour menu. Very reasonable."
Dined on 10/31/2013
Consistently inventive, nice
atmosphere, very good service: A sushi standout in a neighborhood known for it. Particularly like the spicy tuna on crispy rice, baked crab roll, excellent sashimi, and if the albacore belly on a bed of lightly fried spinach is on the "Specials" menu—say YES! Kiwami never disappoints..."

Dined at the small sushi bar at
Kiwami with chef Jeff, who was personable and inspired. Excellent quality sushi, very fresh and artfully presented, not inexpensive, however. Overall, a lovely dinner."
Dined on 10/27/2013
Outstanding dining sushi
experience. It is in the middle of a row of sushi restaurants and shines as a bright star. Decor is comfortable but lovely. Service is excellent. Selection is perfect."
