A word from Kittichai
A poised Thai inspired design of dark wood, swags of jewel toned silk, and an orchid filled reflecting pool, set the scene for Kittichai's cutting edge take on authentic Thai cuisine.

Diner Reviews
  • "I have been here many times! I have never experienced such abominable, inattentive and downright neigent service! Forgot to put in order, repeatedly having to remind what we asked, billed for food never ordered or never delivered! No apologies after patiently explaining the situation! Not going there again, nor recommending it to anyone!"

  • "Went here on a low-key date night with a Groupon. We started with the Snapper Sashimi appetizer (cilantro-tamarind vinaigrette, candied cashews, trout roe), which was delicious. He had the scallops. Presentation was wonderful but they were not to my liking. (soft puffs of creaminess sitting on wooden spoons) Our mains were the duck 2-ways and Mahi mahi. The boyfriend was not a big fan of the overpowering ginger/curry flavor of the Mahi mahi. I enjoyed my duck. We also had the Riesling which was refreshing. Dessert was delicious, I had the Thai "Affogato". Hit the spot since I was craving some coffee. Ambiance was great, we sat by the little indoor "pond" with floating candles. Waitress was nice and attentive."

  • "Food is extraordinary. Best Thai food I've tried in NY and 2nd best in my life. Creative and unique cuisine. Modern and elegant ambiance. Service was not as good as food. My suggestions: mushroom dumplings, Seabass with soy and brown sugar sauce, snapper with curry (hot)."

  • "I've been taking friends to Kittichai for about a year and a half. We always have a great time- love the food, the atmosphere and the bottomless brunch! This was the first and only time the service has been poor. All of the other times the service has been great so this one bad experience won't stop me from going- I just hope that was a one time thing! It happens. Otherwise, our experiences at Kittichai weekend brunch are fabulous and continues to be a great tradition among my local and out-of-state friends."

  • "The decor and location are great, but the food is mediocre at best. I was especially disaapointed by the Black Cod "Noodles" - turned a beautiful and delicious fish into a bland, tasteless gooey noddle. Why?!"

  • "We were a party of five celebrating our friend's bachelorette & all ordered the tasting menu w/wine pairing. Our waitress came over maybe once to check if we were ok. We were seated closest to kitchen. If there's one thing I HATE it's being seated next to the bathroom or kitchen esp when the reservation was made a week in advance. Not to mention there were so many other empty tables close to the lili pond. It was a bit insulting. I regret paying $500+ in a resto where we are put in the least desireable area of the restaurant for a table of 4 w/an extra chair (yup! classless). I would love to take my friends & fam who come to visit NYC here but I wouldn't give business to kittichai after a slap in the face experience."

  • "We were enjoying the outdoor seating until we heard rats squeaking behind the trellis on the deck. It's NYC and rats love here but it was really unnerving. Service was slow as they were slammed with parties. Staff are models not waiters!"

  • "It was really great to come here for brunch. I really loved the decor. The food was good but i should've stuck to thai. I hadeggs benedict which had thai flavors but didnt mesh well with the western food. Nonetheless it was still good. Would go back again. Really great bloody mary!!"

  • "This wasn't the city's best Thai, but it was good and the menu was unique. The combinations were creative and the atmosphere was fun and lively."

  • "This was my fourth time at this place in less then 2 years. The ambience is still great. But I would mention that the food quality has definitely changed. I wouldn't particularly say that it has deteriorated but has definitely changed. This time it was all vegetarian fare. I would recommend their Carrot Croquette, they were amazing. We ordered pretty much all the veg dishes (they only had 5 options). My friends loved it, for me it was different. Would I go again? Maybe!! Not sure, unless the food quality improves tremendously. Thanks."

  • "Asian Restaurant Month (ARM) was advertised on OpenTable so we decided to go to Kittichai for the advertised $35 prix-fixed three course dinner. We walk into the beautiful restaurant and asked to be seated outside because it was a lovely night. Waitress comes by and we ask about the special for ARM. She says that menu is only valid until 7:30pm. Confused, we asked her to send the manager over. In the meantime, we looked for terms but on OpenTable and Kittichai website but found nothing. The manager came over and we explained to him that we were there for the $35 ARM menu. He was extremely rude and said he didn't even know what ARM was that he couldn't do it. When it came down to it, the food was subpar and I would not return."

  • "This was one of my favourite fix price lunch restaurants last year. Now they do not offer anymore such opportunity! They allow 35 dollars fix price dinner only until 7:30 pm. !! We were there at 8:00 pm, we spent a lot of money for almost nothing. I hope they will get back to last year setting!"

  • "Came here with my boyfriend for my birthday in December and have returned many more times since! Great menu, great service, the only thing not great is my wallet after!"

  • "Fantastic restaurant! Food was outstanding, ambiance was perfect for a couple or group and your glass was never empty. I'm not sure where else in manhattan you can have a delicious entree and bottomless drinks for 90 minutes for $25?!? I recommend the kittichai Omlete or the Thai Eggs Benedict. Can't say enough about this place, went way beyond my expectations!"

  • "We had been to Kittichai last year and had a wonderful dinner. Although service was good and attentive, this time, the food was very disappointing. The sea bass was hard and rubbery and flavors among dishes were repetitive. We are not coming back"

  • "Came for Mother's Day brunch and had a terrific time. I've been here for dinner before but the (unlimited drinks!!) brunch was just as good. Everything was delicious and I still can't get over the beautiful water feature at the center of the main area. Our waiter seemed really bored and wasn't very attentive at all, which lost them major points - but overall the restaurant and food is amazing. Will be back!"

  • "The service and ambiance is great, and the tasting menu w/ wine pairings really let you experience the wide range of delicious and interesting dishes!"

  • "We had dinner at Kittichai several years ago, and remembered it as kind of magical place. This time, we went for a Mothers' Day dinner, and it seemed much more mundane--beautiful ambiance and good food and service, but the chair at the table was very uncomfortable, we were seated in a wind tunnel that delivered cigarette smoke from people smoking on the front porch, the foam was pretentious and unnecessary, and it seemed very expensive. An overall pleasant experience, but not as spectacular as I had expected. "

  • "The food was very tasty and delicious... The only disappointment was that I wanted to order a dish from the lunch menu and they couldn't accommodate my request the server just said they couldn't make it for me."

  • "Kittichai is a beautiful, serene, almost hidden gem in Soho. The sophisticated variations on Thai food are delicious and the vegetarian options are excellent. The ambience is outstanding and it is quiet enough for business or personal conversation. "

  • "I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed with our experience at Kittichai. This restaurant had been strongly recommended to me by a friend and one of my fellow diners had a very positive experience prior. I'm not sure if I went on an off night or if the overall quality has since diminished? Ambiance and drinks were great. Food was mediocre and service inconsistent. Unfortunately I'm not eager to return. "

  • "I've been to kittichai twice before a few years ago- the food was much better during those occasions. My kittichai omelette off the prix fixe brunch menu was under cooked and lacked seasoning. Also my food was not brought out at the same time as my friends, despite ordering the same thing as one of my friends so we waited awkwardly for the food until it was brought out. I would stick with the sweet brunch menu items as I feel those are more well prepared. The severs were good at refilling our drinks despite the busy brunch rush."

  • "We went to Kittichai for brunch. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. One of the members of our party had to go straight to the airport after brunch. The server brought our food almost immediately after ordering. The service was great, the waiter was understanding and the food was delicious."

  • "So first off all the waiters were modelesque and attractive. The ambiance is low key & very serene and the layout is absolutely beautiful. So to start we were late. They didn't fuss and were very understanding. It was a party of 4 but they seated us when it was just 3. Our friend came shortly after. They did warn us that once we sat the 90 minute unlimited brunch would start. I had the shrimp pad thai which was pretty good. Right amount of sweetness and the tofu in it was tasty, like little croutons. The drinks were flowing though there were lapses when I felt like I had to call the waiter for a refill but he was very attentive. I had the lychee bellini which was a bit sweeter than the blood orange mimosa. I had a great time and recommend!"

  • "After a delicious dinner and a short after dinner conversation the maitre'd came over and asked us to vacate the table for the next customers. This was rude and uncalled for and very bad management. We gad not overstayed at all. "

  • "I went to Kittichai, one of my NYC faves, for my pre-birthday dinner. As usual, the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and hit that sweet spot between authentically Thai and modern, which so many restaurants miss. The atmosphere is stylish and grown-up fun. The cod "noodles" was so yummy and interesting that I could have eaten that all evening and not get tired of it. The only thing that was not particularly exciting was the desert course (Thai tea panna cotta). "

  • "I've been here twice now, both times for brunch. The lychee belinis are delicious and the waitstaff is very quick to refill so you definitely get your money's worth. I've had the eggs benedict and the french toast and both were great!"

  • "Friends and I went over the weekend to celebrate a birthday. The service is immaculate. The whole staff were just fabulous. The food was great. I had the Mahi Mahi which I loved because it had a little spice to it. Majority of my party had the steak which they al raved about. Im a vegetarian and I was almost tempted. I would most definitely go again."

  • "I think the best part of visiting Kittichai is that we are treated to great service. They were ready to explain the menu in detail and also made suggestions and accommodations according to our preferences. "

  • "I used to love coming to Kittichai. in fairness it's now been several years. I won't be back. while the food is still good, the service is now awful across the board - greeting, bar, table. so disinterested. and the place hasn't been maintained at all. banquettes have holes in the fabric, paint is peeling, wood tables are all dinged. yikes, it's sad to seeing a dying beast."
