KittichaiPrices UP Quantity DOWNI have loved Kittichai for years...and been there many times. This time, however, I was shocked to see how expensive it is. Drinks $15, entree $28. Two people (with one drink each) and the bill was over $140. Yikes! The portions seemed more skimpy than I remember. Especially the Papaya Salad. C'mon, guys! Don't ruin one of the best downtown restaurants with greed. My friends and I will give you one more chance. Then that's it. Please don't let us down.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNew favouriteSuch a fun experience here! The $25 bottomless brunch is brilliant, and the ambience of the restaurant is just beautiful.
Would love to come back here for a dinner date sometime!
Food was nice, although I had the Smoked Salmon off the brunch menu and it was a bit smaller than I expected (and I'm a girl and not a huge eater either).
But I would definitely go back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe sausage wraps were outThe sausage wraps were out of this world. Appetizer portions were good sized, dinners were not huge but nicely done. Overall a good experience!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, interesting andGood food, interesting and tasty. A beautiful calm Thai feel. JUST GREAT!!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, beautiful decor,Great food, beautiful decor, strong drinks. Our waitress was a little sarcastic, and the music playing was annoying and the portions were a little small but the food was amazing.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was beautifully presentedThe food was beautifully presented and delectable. I was amazed at how delicious the fried rice was !
I was told it was a romantic place, and could see how it potentially could be, but on Saturday night it seemd more like "da club" ! The music was very loud, thus folks were talking very loud. Hip looking diners though; everyone well-dressed. With all of that... I'll definitely go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe 5 course tasting menuThe 5 course tasting menu was well thought out and presented. It was a nice progression that ended with big bold flavors.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid brunch, great service.Solid brunch, great service. Our drinks were always full and the brunch special's definitely a good one. The room's gorgeous and filled up quickly on a Sunday morning.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMstill excellentLove this place. This time I tried some soup and the hanger steak which were delicious. Sea Bass is always excellent too.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, drinks and atmosphereThe food, drinks and atmosphere met and surpassed our expectations. The Chilean bass was superb and our waiter most helpful and accurate with suggestions.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the tasting menu and itHad the tasting menu and it was fantastic. Culinary twists in typical Thai dishes. Sat across from Hugh Jackman which kind of added to the experience.....more so for my girlfriend.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Thai Food !!!!If you like Thai food and great ambiance then this is your place. Its expensive but well worth it. Our server was amazing and the food was creative and delicious. The drinks are just as unique. Its a Soho gem and I cant wait to get back !!!3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely worth a visitI usually prefer smaller restaurants and was a little worried about the theme like atmosphere of this restaurant. However it turned out to be a great meal with interesting offerings with well prepared sauces and presentation. Good energy and atmosphere.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy third time at KittichaiMy third time at Kittichai . Always a hit with my family and friends.
One minor dissapointment: during this last visit, I did not love the new desert optionon on the tasting menu... chocolate lava cake is not a good option for splitting 4 ways and the tasting menu requires sharing with the rest of your table.
Overall, it is still an excellent restaurant and so far everyone who went with me plans to come back, and bring their friends.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMthe coconut soup & the beefthe coconut soup & the beef carpaccio were amazing. very delicate yet full of flavors appetizers.
but if you are looking for strong thai tastes, i would recommend you avoid the smoked chicken.
it is good don't get me wrong but it does not taste really thai.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly OutstandingWe had the five course tasting menu which really highlights the quality of the restaurant. Each of the courses includes 2 or 3 items so in total you're eating about 13 items. The dining room is beautiful, the staff is beautiful and the food makes you say "wow!" This is a place that impresses.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMA fun spot for brunch, menuA fun spot for brunch, menu items different from the standard eggs and French toast. The atmosphere was lively but no one was getting obnoxious despite the all-inclusive mimosas/bloody mary option. The servers were friendly and did a good job of keeping up with the drink refills and checking on how everything was going and tasting. A good choice for a cold and rainy day - lots of candles and flowers.12/16/2012 12:00:00 AM
