Diner Reviews
  • "We dined here at the suggestion of a website and had a great time! The decor is simply smashing, I felt I had left Manhattan and was transported to a different country! There was a medium-sized water sculpture with floating candles that added a gorgeous touch! Our food was delicious - especially the lunch prix-fixe. The three courses arrived well prepared and seasoned. My one call-out: we had a baby (15 months old) in our party and the restaurant didn't have a highchair, but did offer a booster seat in which our wait insisted on placing in the booth after we had been seated. (I made mention in the reservation that we had a baby in our party.) Also the women's bathroom did not have diaper chaging facilities; unfortunate."

  • "Normally we eat at the local Thai hole-in-the-walls, because that's where the great food is. We were a party of four celebrating a birthday, the menu looked interesting and we thought, fine we'll probably overpay for ok Thai food but it looked an atmospheric place with a nice bar - and suitable for the occasion. Imagine our surprise when EVERY dish was amazing. The duck two ways was particularly notable. Washed down with a brace of wonderful cocktails. WE WILL BE BACK."

  • "A very close friend brought her teenage daughter to NYC to check out the City. Both were impressed, the food and drinks were awesome and even the teen was impressed with the ambience and was snap chatting all her firneds!"

  • "What a beautiful place to dine not to mention the amazing quuetness of the street! Its like a private area in soho, rare! This was the perfect date spot and we will go back again forvsure. I thought I didnt like Thai food until I had Kittichai."

  • "we were seated 20 minutes before kitchen closed for brunch. waiter took our order and our food was out within 10 minutes. refilling of our unlimited mimosas and bellinis were fast and attentive."

  • "Group of 7 went for a bday dinner. Opted for the $55 tasting menu and it was great. Wish service was a little better, such as water refilled but that's a minor thing. Would deff go back."

  • "Though it was quiet, most tables in the well-decorated dining room were full. Our waitress was pretty uninterested in her job, classic downtown service--never there when you need her. Ordering everything at the same time as she recommended was a mistake; with in about 5 minute of placing our order our first appetizers came out and we were done with all courses in about 30 minutes. I think we can all agree that only happens if your food is not made to order, and though some of the food was better than average, it was clearly premade and warmed up before coming to our table. Don't waste the money on the Duck 2-Ways, the breast would have probably been good when it first came off the grill a few hours before we ordered it."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Food was great and service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is comfortable and the tables are well spaced. It's lively, but not too loud. Everything about the meal was great!"

  • "This is not your regular carry-out/delivery Thai. The dishes are diverse and well executed. I tired both the meat, fish, and pork options from the three of us and every dish was excellent. The drinks were really good. Place is a bit pricey but well worth the money."

  • "The decor here is really nice. The Pork Cheek was the best thing I ate during this trip to New York."

  • "Black bass noodles. Need I write more? Perfect noodles. Succulent strips of bass. A hint of heat. Chilean sea bass caramelized to just slightly sweet, perfectly cooked. That is Kittichai. A distinct and sophisticated take on Thai. Very good food. As close to 5 stars as 4. Delightful wait staff."

  • "Kittichai has been a top brunch spot for me for a while, mostly due to the bottomless cocktails ( I recommend mixing the lychee bellini and the blood orange mimosa) and the ambience. And the price is exceptional for such a swanky spot. Enjoy!"

  • "The place has nice decor but the food is subpar. Nothing fancy or exceptional and is really just for sugary unlimited drinks? I feel the food wasn't good or memorable. Wouldn't come back here"

  • "At least once a year I would take my wife to river cafe, but this year we decided to change the restaurant. We heard good things about kittichai. Upon arriving the host was very nice, got seated right away late dinner. The waiter took our order, and never returned to see it we needed anything else. About ten different tables were asking for there bill and no servers were,to be found. Even McDonald's had better service. The food was good, thank God. River cafe sorry for cheating on you I will be back in the months to follow ."

  • "We got the prawn cakes and dumplings. Not much of a fan. But the Thai Steak and Sea Bass. Magnificent!!! I say stay away from appetizers save 30 bucks on bill and go straight for the entrees and side. You will not be dissappointed. Service is great. Very attentive staff. They all work as a team so you can ask anyone a question."

  • "This is my second time dining at this awesome Thai restaurant. The staff is fantastick very friendly and eager to help, both at the bar and the wait/servers. The food is awesome, probably some of the best Thai food I've had."

  • "The food is modern Thai and was a dream. I would say the best Thai I had. Loved it. The only thing it was a bit on the cool side."

  • "kittichai has been around for ages and the food remains solid. the decor is beautiful, the drinks are great and the food is tasty. it's a little over priced for thai food so definitely worth going for restaurant week!"

  • "I have got to tell you guys....Kittichai is so beautiful and so special, that I am going to make that my staple restaurant this summer for brunch! The ambiance was so sexy, and it was so luxurious and special for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. I wanted to do something so nice for him, and he was so surprised of how nice this place was. We actually were here during Restaurant Week, and for a few dollars more, you could get a 3 course wine pairing with your meal. I was completely sold. I love the fact that there is a pond in the middle of the restaurant, and that it is just so tranquil, it doesn't seem as if you are in New York, you are being transported to another time. The spare ribs and the lava cake were the OMG moments of the night."

  • "If you're looking for a bottomless brunch that doesn't get too loud and still allows you to hold a conversation, then Kittichai is it! The food was great. I had the pad thai and asked them to substitute the shrimp with tofu and they had no problem doing so, and the dish was delicious! I've realized many restaurants don't allow substitutions for brunch, so was pleasantly pleased. The lychee bellinis were HEAVENLY! Absolutely phenomenal. Great value, great food, great ambience!"

  • "This place was amazing and had the greatest portion sizes. I know that sounds a little silly, but it's great to find a good restaurant that you don't get rolled out in a wheel barrel."

  • "It has seen better days...little worn for wear but still has a nice warm ambiance. Great date night or on a client tab. Restuarant week was a perfect example of its value and it was tasty. Good wine pairing choices and you were able to talk. Many places pump up the music to mask the food and get you on drinks- not here."

  • "Return visit to Kittichai and once again fabulous. The atmosphere is very zen-like, a little noisy due to the wood walls and ceiling but the orchids and pool more than compensate for any background noise. The tuna tartare was beautifully presented and the chili vinaigrette was a perfect complement. The meat fell off the ribs and the glaze was so good you wanted to lick your fingers - which was totally unnecessary because the waiter brought hot towels after our appetizer. We were full after our entrees but managed to share an incredible panna cotta - even the coffee was excellent! This was a perfectly prepared meal with Thai flavor influences, impeccable, non obtrusive service and a great atmosphere. At reasonable prices!!"

  • "We got the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairings and were very pleased with both food and wine. We especially liked the waiter suggesting the best order in which to eat the dishes. The only complaint that I would have is that the service felt a bit rushed. We were given our first course and wine before our cocktails arrived! The second course followed quickly after that. This was not an inexpensive meal and I would have preferred a more moderate pace. After that, we asked our waitress to slow things down (which she did) and we had more of an opportunity to enjoy our food and wine. The tasting menus was terrific. We were both pleased with the opportunity to taste so many items (each course had several components)."

  • "Had dinner here for restaurant week with a dear friend and we looked forward to a cool experience. Since it was a pre fixe it was all inclusive w app, entree & dessert. That's how they get you to pay $20 for an entree that would normally be less. I ordered the braised pork cheek dish and it wasn't even presented on a plate, but on two side dishes. We ordered separately from the pre fixe - the rotti which never came out. My dish was pretty dry and not juicy enough to be considered braised. For the ambience of the restaurant to be so nice, I was surprised at how "blah" the service AND was food were. Thank god for good company."

  • "Amazing first date! Food was fantastic, ambiance warm and comfortable, noise level perfect for first date conversation without having to yell or speak loudly. Staff was all friendly and attentive. Order the 4 or 5 course sampler for two. You won't regret it."

  • "Great menu for Restaurant week and lovely presentation! The environment of the entire restaurant is a great date night location. The serving sizes for dinner were perfect and very filling unlike some of the other restaurants I have been to for Restaurant week."

  • "The food was good but not transformative. I had heard so many good things about this restaurant that I was hoping for a great experience but found that I could get the same quality of food in my east village neighborhood for half the price. I think people mostly go for the scene."

  • "This place is amazing. Normally I don't frequent classy joints like this one (wallet size limitations) but since they had restaurant week specials, my friends and I made a Friday night reservation and headed on down. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the ribs for appetizer, hangar steak for entree and lava cake for dessert. Mmmm, not a bad choice among those 3. Also had a bite or two of everyone else's choices (we like to share) and everything was excellent. Service was also great, ambiance of the restaurant was super classy, and I also saw some very intimate booths that would be perfect for a date ;) I'll definitely be back (after my wallet has stretched a bit)!!!!!!"

  • "The crispy branzino and hot and sour soup both tasted strange. Hanger steak was extremely salty. Veggie fried rice was the only dish we enjoyed without complaints. Service was good, waitress was nice. First round of utensils were sticky and they were quick to change them for us. Ambience was nice, but don't think I would go back soon."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "What can I say, there's a pond! I really enjoy the look of the place. Very earth tone, it makes you feel calm and well rested. The Lego movie song "everything is awesome" describes my experience there. I can't wait to go back ^_^"

  • "Tried this for the first time after hearing really great reviews from friends. The bottomless brunch drinks were good, especially the lychee bellini. We all had a great time, good atmosphere and great service. The food was unremarkable but if someone wanted to go there badly I wouldn't mind joining them again"

  • "The first thing we noticed was how beautiful the decor was - perfect for a date night. The duck confit salad was very good, although I did find a few inedible hard pieces in my salad? We both ordered the hanger steak which was delicious and tender. I would recommend ordering from the regular menu if you do come. We thought it would be a great deal choosing from the Restaurant Week menu, but the serving sizes were incredibly small and I was still hungry after. I am not sure if I would return and if I do, it would be more for the ambience than anything else."
