Kitsilano Daily KitchenAmazing AdventureI brought my husband here for his birthday and his review is "best dinner I've had in Vancouver" (except for my cooking, of course!). The service was fantastic, and the food was innovative and flavourful. We had the culinary adventure, most of which was lovely. I personally didn't enjoy the lamb cheeks we had, but I also don't eat meat normally. They were quite fatty, and though my husband told me that was the best part, he didn't really enjoy his either. But, when you're on an adventure, there are highs and lows and it's all part of the trip. Excellent cauliflower soup, interesting scallop paired with serrano, a King Crab that made me work a little, and a perfectly cooked oyster rounded out the meal. We'll be back for sure!12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, if you are adventurousGreat food, if you are adventurous and have a large appetite I recommend the six course meal (surprise created by the chef). My understanding is that these dishes are made from local ingredients. We will return.12/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! Kits Daily KitchenExcellent!
Kits Daily Kitchen knows how to cook mushrooms. Thankfully, there are some mushrooms in season now. The sauteed hedgehog mushrooms that my wife had and the mushrooms that accompanited my tenderloin were, as expected, great. If you ever see mushrooms on the menu, be sure to order the dish.
The staff are friendly and completely competent.11/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday!!I arranged a group dinner here for my boyfriends bday. I found this place on yelp -- somewhere with good reviews and takes ressies for group of 10. I was very impressed overall-- amazing service and food. The food was so fresh!!! The menu changes daily and the chef goes out each day and buys local ingredients. This really comes out in the food... its hard to explain, but once you taste it you will know what I mean!My favorites were the prawns with risotto, the scallops, and the porterhouse steak. All amazing!!! I wish we could have done the 6 course chefs menu but unfortunately the whole table has to have it and not everyone in the group wanted it. I tried my friends gnocci, that was delicious too!!! Another plus- you can BYOW for $8/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! We went for my husband's birthday and had an AMAZING meal! We asked if the chef could accomodate our request (no tuna for him and no beef for me) and the answer was yes so we did the blind tasting menu. Every course was delicious (except dessert which was actually really dry and not good at all). I would highly reccomend this for a special occasion, a nice dinner out, and especialy to show off to anyone who's visiting town and wants a taste of 'West Coast' food. Another great thing was that almost everything, including the wine, is local from BC.7/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA RARE GEM!!!We brought some out of town guests to the Daily Kitchen this past weekend and enjoyed the chef's tasting menu. What a delight!!! Creative food choices, fresh ingredients with beautiful presentation. My friend is a foodie and has a hobby as a sommolier and was thoroughly impressed. The service staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgable about the preparation and ingredients, and provides the perfect kind of evening one would expect from a restaurant charging more than double the prices here.
There are other, more expensive, choices for dining in our neighbourhood, but I will always return to the Daily Kitchen when I need that truly unique dining experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion! It is always a special occasion when we dine at Kitsilano Daily -- even if it's just a quick dinner on a Monday night! This is an extraordinary restaurant.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is incredibleThe tasting menu has never failed to impress. Cannot say enough about the fantastic food and service. Would highly recommend the wine pairing with the tasting menu.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticBoyfriend and I celebrated anniversary. The six course was encouraged and sounded intriguing, but we decided we didn't have the time. We chose to share an appetizers of Golden Beet Salad and then split two entrees, the Copper River Salmon, and then Rare-Seared Sirloin. My boyfriend usually hates beets and fish, but he loved both. Everything was prepared to perfection. The champagne was delightful and both our cocktails wore wonderful. We didn't indulge in wine this time, though the selection of BC wines was commendable. For dessert we shared an Organic Wildberry Crumble and I had Vanilla Bean tea from Mighty Leaf (my new favorite). What a great evening overall! Service was perfect - staff are attentive, knowledgeable and thorough.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne word - awesome! Chef hasOne word - awesome! Chef has a passion and it comes through not only his creations but also his serving staff.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe spot prawns specials wereThe spot prawns specials were terrific. I wish they were available all year. The bison steak was also perfectly cooked.
The service at Kits Daily Kitchen is always terrific. They are enthusiastic and friendly and always there at the right time.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic find!I can't believe the Daily Kitchen has been there for four years and we've only gotten to it now! Food was outstanding, value was great, service was awesome. Can hardly wait to go back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful culinary adventureWe thoroughly enjoyed this memorable culinary experience! Had the 6 course menu for $65 each. Loved the element of surprise as as the glass of bubbly since it was our anniversary. Lovely decor, attentive service, and some stand out dishes such as the duck breast, Valencia orange sauce with spot prawns, tender lobster and foie gras to name a few.
Would definitely come back.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat EveningThe food was excellent, great portions and good value, very good service. The complimentary bread is absolutely amazing and they provided a 2nd basket free of charge. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative wine policyAs a wine lover, I pay close attention to a restaurant's wine list and if they allow guests to bring their own wine. While the restaurant offers a good selection of BC wines, my preference for the meal was a German Riesling and their BYOB policy allows me to bring my preferred bottle of drink to compliment the meal. Their corkage is a reasonable $25, and no corkage if the wine is 1995 or older. They will also waive the corkage on certain days of a month. Check their website for more details.
We were greeted promptly at the door. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was fresh, but it's not top notch. Overall ambience was very relaxing and enjoyable.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Experience Indeed!Chef Fowke is outstanding with his culinary skills. We had the chef menu du jour: 2 seafood dish, 2 meat dish, and dessert! Everything was great! The complimentary bubbly for my birthday, the superb services we received from the waitress, the food, etc. Bar none the best in Kits!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommend this owner-managedHighly recommend this owner-managed neighborhood restaurant. Cozy, romantic, quiet enough to have conversation without shouting and still has a great vibe, food is AMAZING, truly delicious and well-priced for the quality (not super cheap but definitely value priced). Small menu changes daily, local & organic whenever possible, yummy wine list. If you'd rather avoid the big box chain restaurants with formulaic food, servers, tv's and NOISE.... some place to enjoy really great food and visit with your dinner companion(s) = then this is the place for you.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect spot for a romanticPerfect spot for a romantic evening or good catch up with friends. I love to sit back, be spoiled by non-pretentious, friendly staff and enjoy delicious food. A great find!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
