Diner Reviews
  • "Appetizers are very good. We love the risotto. Very fresh ingredients. Main courses are so so, we expect a bit more flavor."

  • "We had the tasting menu. It took an hour to get our first dish with the restaurant about 1/4 full. After that, the pace was better. The food was as advertised. It was wonderfully fresh and beautifuly presented. At $85 it was a bit overpriced. I believe that was reflected by the open tables on a Saturday night. If you like an artfully presented, fresh and tasty meal that lasts 3 hours, then Kitsilano Daily Kitchen is for you. I would suggest bringing your own bottle of wine. The corkage is $25."

  • "The food at Kits Daily is great, the ever changing menu means you're always eating whatever is fresh and in season. The service is less than stellar, if the service was improved I could easily see this restaurant becoming a favourite in the city."

  • "We did the 6 course culinary adventure and it was fun! We really enjoyed not knowing what was going to come next. The range of food was delicious and yes, adventurous. We both tried 3 things we hadn't had before and surprised ourselves what we enjoyed. The wait staff are attentive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around. Thanks Daily Kitchen!"

  • "Lovely ambience. The chef made a wonderful vegan dish for my friend. Very creative. Met the person that helped grow my salad. These people really care about the whole food cycle. Presentation wonderful. Nothing like Fresh Northwest."

  • "I had a great time at KDK on Friday evening with two guests -- let me give some feedback: appetizers - snapper sashimi: the slices were too thick and so it lacked flavour, this was the only dud dish - duck: very nice mains - pork tenderloin: very good, I liked everything about this dish. - elk cassoulet: this was the stand out dish for me. i liked it a lot. - skate: somehow I was not a fan of this, but perhaps I just don't like skate. wine - we had the cabernet franc - not sweet and great flavour, great suggestion by the waiter"

  • "Food very ambitious but different for difference sake and a little pretentious. Wine very expensive. Choose the simpler dishes."

  • "went at the recommendation of some regulars, and could not have enjoyed it more: perfectly cooked pork belly, a rosemary and pear martini mixed just right and not too sweet, and a snapper in tom yum broth that was spectacular. Attentive and friendly staff who also left one alone to enjoy the time."

  • "Food is good but if more choices on the menu can be available would be better. At least, have some soup."

  • "Great meal, well done and always nice to get spot prawns! Service was excellent. Didn't care for the broccolini -- hard to chew, very stringy! "

  • "The food at Kit's Daily Kitchen is always terrific. It's worth coming back again and again."

  • "We went there for my husband's birthday, because we wanted something different from our usual places. The menu was what made us pick KDK: it has a lot of daily made fresh items and it simply sounds delicious: prawns, frog legs, sweetbreads, veal tongue, rabbit, bone marrow. I actually regret not going for the 6-course tasting menu. Instead, we started with prawns and summer salad (for a green salad, it was absolutely amazing), then I had the fresh that day crab, and my husband went with the rabbit saddle. They were both very good, though slightly smallish and on the expensive side. The staff was nice and very accommodating. When we asked for dessert (which they did not serve), they whipped up an amazing creme brule in less than 20 minutes."

  • "Fresh local ingredients with careful preperations creates fine dishes inside a cozy and warm atmosphere. Altough we were left a bit hungry (was not advised of portions when we ordered to share), the taste was extravagant and left us wanting more. "

  • "The only thing that stood out was their sourdough bread. Everything else was meh. Our appys took 30min to arrive, and our entres 80 minutes later. Food was mediocre. "

  • "I visited the daily kitchen for date night as my girlfriend had never been there before. I was surprised to hear that not everything was created for the day, as previous visits they had a much more limited menu but everything was fresh created that day. I ordered off the daily creation portion of the menu, and my girlfriend ordered off the regular. My dishes were amazing, very fresh tasting, good flavor, and seasoned and cooked perfectly. The staple menu items however were a bit lacking, the cauliflower soup was tasty, but not as rich as we both would have liked. And the Beef steak was cold and underseasoned, but they refired us a new one and the 2nd one was much better. Great service, Great food overall, date night again for sure."

  • "The new menu and the new brunch is perfect! Rich and we'll balanced flavors with local fresh ingredients. This is what a restaurant is supposed to be. "

  • "Fresh cod was perfectly prepared. Would have liked more sauce for the squid and more whipped cream or creme fraiche for the chocholate dessert. Server was friendly and showed an interest in his clients."

  • "We went on the "culinary adventure" and it did not disappoint. Top to bottom, a most excellent experience. Heartily recommend! "

  • "The new brunch offering at Kits Daily Kitchen is terrific. The Broiled Soft Eggs & Local Cured Sausage, Bacon, Pancetta & peppers à la boulangerie was incredible. This time, boar bacon was also on the plate. Can anything be better? The cauliflower soup, which is also available on their dinner menu, was fantastic. There are a lot of other items on the brunch menu which we want to try...and we will definitely be back to try them."

  • "Our friends and we decided that we'd go with the six-course culinary adventure (is there any other way to go?) and were not disappointed, indeed we were over-the-moon. Nice wines, roasted cauliflower soup, risotto, ling cod with foie gras, bone marrow and sweetbreads, and accompanying sauces and condiments that were perfectly matched. Of course, I missed at least one dish in the foregoing, but when the food, the service, and the company is this outstanding, the luxury of the evening remains, while some of the details fade. "

  • "Kitsilano Daily Kitchen really like it name, their foods are so fresh and well made, very delicious, their daily seafood fresh catch must try and the angus beef steak and the game hen are very good must try and also duckling skin. I will go back again with my bf coz this time is to celebrate my best friend BD. Highly recommend :)"

  • "Had the tasting menu with treating tasting appetizer courses but when it came to the main dishes, was slightly disappointed. There was this savoury pumpkin pie made using a phylo crust which was quite large paired with veal sweetbread. The pumpkin pie overpowered the veal with too strong flavours. For the other dish there was a lamb, tenderloin on one side and panko crusted on the other paired with bread pudding. The lamb was cooked well except for the fact that it was quite fat. On the other hand, the bread pudding was quite flavourless and very doughy. Alas, the desert was an excellent pecan pie which I think helped save the meal."

  • "This was our 2nd visit. This time, we ordered 6-Course Food Adventure. There were good variety of food, including beets, soup, fish, ox-tongue, lamb & dessert. Taste was good, presentation was so-so, but portion was relatively small & the wait was unacceptably long."

  • "Locally sourced food. Delicious for the most part. Highly recommend the oxtail stew fingerling potatoes and pork belly. My lamb entree was more dare than I would like. Service was very long between courses for a week night. Made a reso but server did not check so my table did not get its gift."

  • "My husband and I live in Seattle and went to Vancouver for a weekend getaway. We were looking forward to our dinner at Kitsilano Daily and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was very attentive, and each course was amazing (all the way from the homemade bread served w/creamy blue cheese to the pork belly to the risotto to the lamb to our espresso!). I love a good dinner out that doesn't break the bank, and this was it!"

  • "First time to the rest and to my surprise it was better than I had thought. Menu changes daily. Great local wines to choose from! The only thing that was not too great was the dessert! Maybe it was just that night..? A nice cozy rest with delicious food! Def will come back again."

  • "Excellent Service. Every dish was described to us and the server was very polite. Seafood was cooked to perfection. Not over cooked or under cooked."

  • "We came to Kitsilano based on good reviews from Yelp, and it was every bit as good as everyone said. We went the day after Valentine's, so it was also nice and quiet as well - I'm not sure if it is always like that. But the food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the wine selection from the Okanagan valley in BC; I have yet to see many of those wines in Portland, OR so that was a special treat as well. Bottom line, if you want a great meal and don't mind spending the $$, come here and you'll enjoy it for sure!"

  • "Great concept - building a menu around food that can be sourced the same day and being flexible enough to create other dishes with the available ingredients."

  • "This is our second time to KDK. I would have given 5 stars but there were a few minor things that were out of place. Service was a teeny bit slow at the top, but was very attentive after that. The server made an excellent wine suggestion that my husband enjoyed immensely (me, not drinking). We opted for the 6-course adventure menu. First course was a cauliflower soup, a little too salty, with hair-like fibres still in it. I knew it was edible, but it still feels strange in the mouth and we were pulling fibres off our tongues. Would have liked those strained out. Everything else was lovely with beautiful presentation and complex flavours. I was full by course 4, but made it to the end. Portions are healthy. Will definitely go back!"

  • "I was expecting quality, inspirational culinary experience, even if it is a casual presentation. But it was very typical and no theme or statement found behind it. Soup and sauce were not properly prepared, lots of skin and residues left in your mouth. Duck was very tough and chewy, beef as well lots of tendon which was not yet tendered. 3 rotation on the valentains day was too optimistic and greedy. Server picked up dropped folks on the floor in front of customers and put it back. It did not meet least standard as a decent level restaurant. Very disappointed, unfourtunately."
