A word from Kitchenette - Tribeca
Home style cooking at its best is our mantra. Our restaurant is located in the busy streets of Tribecca but one step inside instantly transports you to a quaint country diner in the heart of the New England country side. The pink polka dot wainscoting and tin ceilings along with our funky homemade tables made from salvaged doors adds to the cottage feel.

You are met at the door with our abundantly filled pastry cases. The shelves are filled with our homemade layer cakes, flaky pies, iced cupcakes, fruit crisps, and so much more to tempt you on your way to a table. Kitchenette can satisfy all your cravings whether it be an oasis from the cold with our own hot chocolate topped with a homemade marshmallow, or a steamy bowl of chicken soup or a hearty meal of turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. We are a home away from home. Come visit us for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Brunch or an afternoon slice of cake and coffee.

Hope to see soon.

Diner Reviews
  • "Kitchenette was recommended by a friend and while it was a nice brunch, the cramped seating inside this small restaurant made it slightly uncomfortable. Honestly, if they took out just a few tables, it would make a world of difference--especially with the number of unsupervised small children who were dining with their parents. Service also left something to be desired. Food was pretty good, I got an omelet that was nice and fluffy, but I was disappointed in the biscuit--it was rock hard and on the very dry side. Best part of the meal were the desserts, friend got a milkshake that was fabulous and I got a fruit crumble a la mode. If I ever went back here, it would just be for dessert."

  • "The food was the worst I've ever had in my life. My fish from the Fish and Chips had no seasoning whatsoever. My friend ordered the chicken with some pasta (Forgot the name of the dish). The sauce was just tomato sauce and the chicken was no where close to being cooked. Very unprofessional staff... If you want to hear a lot of profanity, come here. No wonder the place was so empty."

  • "I really enjoy the comfort food and ambience. I wish the brunch would be a bit more inclusive, including a cocktail and/or coffee/tea/or OJ"

  • "We had a wonderful time at Kitchenette. Tucked away in Tribeca, this polka-dot themed place impresses with great food, drinks, and service for not too much money."

  • "The breakfast is great. I am a pancake lover, and they have great pancakes. Only downside is that it is very small. The chairs are also not very comfortable. My father, who is not particularly tall, did not like it here because his knees could barely fit under the table. The waiters were nice, but rarely around because they had too many tables to serve. I'd recommend going at least once. It is a cute restaurant. "

  • "great brunch spot. very busy, but they were good with not keeping us waiting more than a few minutes after our reservation. I've been here a couple of times and, unfortunately, I had the same waiter each time. He slams my coffee down on the table each time (always spilling it) forgetting to bring milk, sugar or even a spoon. Always seems "short" when answering questions about the menu. He's not the best or really a good waiter, but the place makes up for it. The runners were always more than helpful, so it helped balance out. the place is cute and the food is pretty good with a great menu. Just steer clear of this one waiter!"

  • "The food was excellent, especially the orange pancakes. We visited on Mother's Day. We were actually seated prior to our reservation time. Good service. The seating is tight, but was OK. We definitely plan to be back to sample even more of the menu. "

  • "This is a darling dinette. I was completely taken back to another place and time. Hard to believe it is tucked in Tribeca, with its polka-dot decor and farmhouse charm. They have a bakery counter and a beautiful selection of mini pies and such, and the menu is full of reasonably priced comfort food choices. I was hoping they had more choices for me, as I must eat gluten-free. Alas, they managed a salmon & salad that was just ok. Even with that, I would recommend it for the Motown music and the atmosphere so unique in NYC."

  • "I liked the food and the casual atmosphere but it seems that they just packed too many people. A table for four was turned into two and the waiter had to reach over our table to give the other part their food. Also the table next to is complained very politely about getting the wrong dish and both the waiter and manager said it was his fault for not telling them earlier. Ridiculous. There are many other restaurants around here in TriBeCa so I probably won't come back"

  • "Nice, casual place. The baked goods on display made me feel like I was back in my Grandmother's kitchen. I was looking forward to getting my food because the plates going by looked so good. However, after waiting 45 minutes for it to arrive, I began losing interest and just wanted to eat and get out of the restaurant. I would return one more time to see if I just caught the restaurant on a bad day since my food was really tasty once it arrived."

  • "It was standing room only. There is no room to wait and they were quite overwhelmed with the crowd. They had trouble handling the phone, computer and walk ins. But if you go at an off time, you should be ok. Chicken pablano hash was so different and tasty. "

  • "This place is all you ever want in a great brunch spot. From the second you walk in the door feel you walked into a home kitchen. The staff and food were amazing. I have never had a better Sangria in my life and the turkey sausage was WONDERFUL!!! I wanted to try so many of the menu items, so can't wait to go back. Even lunch menu looked like it had many things I would want to try. Super excited we found this place."

  • "Friends were visiting from Seattle, staying at the Soho hotel w/ the great David Burke restaurant. I told them Kitchenette had the best brunch and insisted we go there. But it wasn't. For 3 of us, we spent $60-- and that's with the discount if you pay cash (seems a little shady!)--no coffee--no drinks. Wanted something healthy--should have cooked at home. I had their version of eggs Benedict--it came with a grilled tomato that was not a good tomato--+ it made the English muffin soggy. I am trying to save money (to cover rising rents) by not eating out so much. The bright side of this experience is that A. saved calories by not eating the English muffin + B. will not be tempted to go there again."

  • "The Kitchenette is this adorable little place in Tribeca. The decor is really fun and quaint and the atmosphere is very homey. You feel like everyone at the counter is a regular. The food has always been delicious and fresh and I would die for their biscuits. I have never gotten any of the desserts, but I plan to one day, because they all look amazing. The menu is affordable, but plan on spending at least 15 on a full meal. The wait, especially on the weekends, can be kind of long, so I recommend putting in a reservation. The website makes it really easy."

  • "I'm starting off this review by saying that any breakfast restaurant that I've ever visited, I'm being offered a cup of coffee within 5 minutes of sitting down. Well, at Kitchenette it was a good 10 minutes. We didn't even know if we had a server. The place is chaotic with employees not really interested in serving their tables. The food is okay. I mean, you can't really mess up breakfast. I was excited about the biscuits but they were a little dry. Oh, and the coffee we waited over 10 minutes for...it was full of grounds. Gross!"

  • "Had been to the Kitchenette on the Upper West Side and this was the first time in Tribeca. Really good food as always. The fruit cobbler was not quite as good as Upper West side. Service was OK."

  • "Busy decor and a polka-dotted menu that is hard to read. Very cramped dining space and even with a reservation, we waited about 25 minutes for a table. Food was tastey and service was efficient. Not recommended for those who do not like tight spaces, or a relaxing brunch experience. I would try the joint again perhaps earlier in the morning to beat the crowd."

  • "A friend asked to be taken here for lunch for his birthday; I had never heard of the place though I do remember The Kitchen on West Broadway. A 50s ambience; comfort food; and no alcohol. The staff looked like web designers from Williamsburgh - or whatever they do for a living in Williamsburgh. Pleasant, but not very attentive. Food was what one might expect: very rich, not very well presented. A very odd clientele; no one in a suit or tie, yet they appeared to have some kind of jobs. And of course the Tribeca mom with her attention grabbing baby. Not for me."

  • "Last Sunday, we went to brunch at Kitchenette (TriBeCa) and were very disappointed at first because we had to wait an hour (!!!) for our table (even though we had a reservation via Open Table at 12 PM)… The Service was VERY unorganized and the interior turned out not to be as cute and cozy as imagined…Nevertheless, the food was delicious and affordable ($ 15 cherry and blackberry pancake, $ 15 Omelette, $ 5 Hot Chocolate with homemade marshmallow, $ 5 fresh orange juice) but taking everything into account, it´s not worth the wait and we will not come back again."

  • "After the rave reviews online and in TimeOut NYC, I was excited to try Kitchenette. After ordering my excitement subsided significantly. First, it took ~30 minutest get our food. People who had sat down after us were eating before us-- there is something really wrong with that. Second, our waiter seemed to forget about our table. No refills, check-ins, etc. during our long wait for food. Finally when the food arrived, it was nothing more than more disappointment. My burger was over cooked and lacked flavor. The upgraded hand cut fries I got were even more pathetic-- soggy and luke warm. To the restaurant's credit they did get me a new, fresher, order of fries, after I had tried to eat the burger. All in all choose another place for brunch."

  • "I went in for brunch after a very late evening the night before. Let's just say, I was not feeling great when I arrived at the restaurant. Although the food was amazing and the staff perfect, the noise level was way above anything I could have handled and the tables and chairs were crammed in to fire-code capacity. I had a reservation, but waited for a table for a while. When I was finally seated, we had to get up and down every time the tables next to us had to be served, bused, or changed. This is not the type of environment I want when I go to brunch. Nevertheless, it is absolutely adorable and the food is amazing."

  • "A good little place just off Chambers Street Metro - great staff, great food, the drinks come in jars - not the cocktails though......a nice little place, just like grandmas house, polka dots, the tables are a little wobbly but just use a paper napkin to level it.....I'd say being from the UK that this place is like a quirky cafe with quirky staff....bravo"

  • "I absolutely loved Kitchenette in TriBeca! The food was delicious and the service was excellent and all the members of staff were extremely friendly and helpful. On my next trip to NY I definitely intend on going back and would certainly recommend to friends. The Lumberjack brunch option was fabulous and would recommend the Caramel Turtle milkshake!"

  • "Went there with out-of-town guests, having stopped in once before a few years ago, since it seemed to have a nice aesthetic and was in my neighborhood. I paid $4 for a single cookie that was not that good. The place was cute and somewhat eclectic, but a little like they were trying hard to look like they weren't trying hard. Ordered the Vanilla Creme Brulee French Toast on recommendation from the server. When it came it was cold at the bottom, indicating to me that they hadn't microwaved it long enough. Yuck. If I'm going to pay $14.95 for french toast and you're going to make me wait 25 minutes before it's served, please make it up fresh! Is this a restaurant or a deli? Food not good and overpriced. Not recommended."

  • "Sitting by the door in the winter was not a good idea but the service made up for it. Our waiter was outstanding!! Pleasant, charismatic, and energetic! Food was delicious with constant tea refills. I highly recommend the desserts... do not leave without cake!"

  • "Unfortunately, our reservation on open table was not honored because they had overbooked. We ended up waiting 45 minutes (unacceptable). The reason I waited was because their staff was/is very friendly, providing frequent feedback as they weaved in and out of the waiting queue. The food is average, and not worth the wait. There are just too many places in NYC."

  • "We enjoyed our breakfast at the Kitchenette. The homemade English muffins were very good, as were the potato pancakes. The atmosphere is fun, with the decor made to look like you are in someone's kitchen. It is a rather small space and the tables are pretty close together, but once you are seated, it was comfortable. We would recommend going there if you are in TriBeCa."
