  • "Server excellent. Food superb. Timing very poor. Salads and appetizers arrived BEFORE first cocktail! Entrees arrived before able to order a glass of wine!! Timing issues unfortunate given quality of server and meal. Dining room not busy at the time..... Lovely atmosphere snd staff wonderful. Wonder why timing do off?"

  • "Our reservation was at 8:15 for a party of 7, but we weren't seated until 9pm. They did comp us a round of drinks for the delay, which was great. But the service continued to be very, very slow. It was 10pm when we got our appetizers, and only after asking how much longer it would be. The food is always great at Kitchen, but I've never had such bad service. Not sure I'd recommend it for a large group."

  • "Food was ok nothing to write home about. I got the sole which was decent. I substituted fries instead of the potato and there was an upcharge! Seated in the back and it's overcrowded and excessively loud back there because of the fishbowl like room. Waiter was horrible. Lots of good places in the south end but this is not one of them"

  • "I ate at Kitchen for dinner and really enjoyed the meal. The ambience in the restaurant was really pleasant. I was surprised that the kitchen ran out of Oysters when we ordered them, but we were able to find something else on the menu instead. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Also, we had some great cocktails!!"

  • "Wonderful dinner. Service was outstanding. Attentive but not overbearing. Food was excellent. Mushroom appetizer especially unique and flavorful. Both lamb pie and pasta were excellent. Lamb was especially flavorful with great presentation. Chocolate pudding was fun . Was expeditious without being rushed. Front room was just a little lively noise wise...not bad but suspect back room would be quieter."

  • "I booked Kitchen for my boyfriends birthday and we had an absolutely fabulous time! We were there for restaurant week and we truly enjoyed the plethora of options they offered. The ambiance was spectacularly romantic, especially since we were sitting in the back "greenhouse" esque room with a view of the garden. Although all of the food was delicious, we both got the duck and absolutely adored it. I would recommend eating light before hand since the food is very hearty and filling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all couples and families (maybe not children)."

  • "A friend and I dined at Kitchen last week for Restaurant week. I originally made reservations here solely for the dessert that was on the online menu, Bananas foster. Unfortunately, this was not on the menu when we arrived. It seemed as though the waitstaff had heard this disappointment several times from other guests as well. With that said, the food was pretty good. The service was ok, little snobby for my taste, but good enough. We had a great seat in the back overlooking the courtyard, which was the best part of the evening. It's an intimate place, definitely good for a date, with good food. I probably wouldn't try it again, as there are so many other great places in the area, but it's a fine option for the south end."

Chocolate pudding and donuts were yummy for dessert. Very small space! Didn't realize! The staff was very friendly."

  • "I was impressed by the food and service at Kitchen, especially considering it was Restaurant Week, so you never know what to expect. Our waitress was attentive, helpful and checked on us frequently. I ordered the French Onion Soup, which was excellent, the lobster thermador, which was so savory and had huge chunks of lobster and the chocolate pudding which was very rich. I cannot wait to dine here again!"

  • "The hubby and I left with full bellies last weekend. Our server was lovely--very knowledgable about the menu and gave excellent advice. The fresh rolls were a nice surprise--nice and crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. I had trouble deciding between the entrees. I finally chose the Lobster Thermidor, and the hubby got the duck. My entree had big chunks of lobster and delicate gnocchi in a tasty cream sauce. The duck disappeared very quickly from the plate, and got a recommendation as well. The donuts were a sweet cap to the meal. I'd definitely return to check out the rest of the menu!"

  • "My friend and I made a reservation at kitchen to celebrate our mutual milestone birthdays. Our reservation was on a Saturday for 1:00. Not only did it take 10 minutes for anyone to greet us, but our table wasn't ready and we had to stand at the door practically on top of 4 people eating at the bar ( there is no room for people waiting for their table to stand) for almost a half hour."

  • "During Dine Out Boston, I tried the mussels, crispy half duck and donuts. The mussels and garlic bread are very tasty. The leg portion of the crispy half duck tastes very good but the breast portion is somewhat dried. The donuts is 3 pieces of munchkin size donut that taste very duck. The donuts are pretty disappointed. Service is pretty good. Overall, this restaurant is pretty good."

  • "Went recently for restaurant week. Chose Kitchen because tyre were at least a few items from each course we'd like. Food was great. Sat at the bar, super bartenders especially for such a small space. Only weirdness is the lack of a host. You're kind of standing there waiting for some one to acknowledge you. I get that there's no room for a physical host stand but someone should be always at the door, if that's the case."

  • "Days after making reservations for Kitchen, I realized they were part of Marliave and Grotto, both places we have dined at. Knowing this, we knew we must have made a good choice and we definitely were not disappointed. All of our choices were very good (mussels, mushrooms under glass, scallops, beef tenderloin, crispy duck and chicken). The beef tenderloin was "melt in your mouth" good. We thoroughly enjoyed the donuts for dessert too! The service staff was very attentive too. Overall, we were happy with our choice to go to Kitchen for restaurant week and we definitely will go again."

  • "We went here for restaurant week and I loved that they gave their full menu for us to choose from. I got the scallops in bacon on top of grits and it was my favorite thing that I got all night. It was so delicious and the sauce that came with it was a really good pairing with eh bacon scallop. I got the duck, and it was a little too fatty for me and I had to remove all the skin from it because it was overwhelming. I then got the donuts which were really good. The raspberry sauce was good too. I would definitely come here again. Ill skip the duck though. Also it is pretty noisy in there, but I chuck it up to restaurant week. It was hot in there too. we sat across the kitchen, which added to it. and all the people probably added to that too."

  • "This place is small and darling. It certainly feels romantic. The cocktails are great. The food ranged from very good to outstanding. The more creative entrees were better than the more standard ones so go for what is a little more out there. It was on the quite side when I went there, but I think it does get a little louder as the evening goes on."

  • "As much as I liked this restaurant, it is not a good fit for Boston's Restaurant Week. First, my fiance and I felt extrememly rushed before, during, and after the meal. I understand that there is a quick turnover with tables during these two weeks, but there weren't enough people in the restaurant throughout the night to merit the constant bombarding of servers trying to clear plates before we were ready and looming over our shoulders the entire evening. Second, the portions were abominably small! If I am paying $40 for my meal, I expect to feel full by the end of a 3-course dinner, not searching for another place to get a snack after. If this event was called "Taste of Boston", then it would be a different story."

  • "Husband and I went there for Restaurant Week. Parking is a challenge there, but eventually found spot. Hostess was pleasant and our table was ready in a few minutes. But so much for requesting a quiet table. We were seated across from the open kitchen - very noisy. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller as an app, but got raw oysters instead. Sent them back and had long wait while my husband had scallops. Rarely saw waiter after our initial order. Both entrees were very good - lobster Newburgh and steak. Desserts also were yummy - chocolate pudding and donuts. We would go back again, but request a table in the back room, which looked much quieter."

  • "I had never been to Kitchen before and chose this location for Dine in Boston Week based on the menu variety. Kitchen did not disappoint! There were 4 people in our party and we all were more than satisfied with our meals. The cocktail menu was very unique, as well, and their mint julep was impeccable. The wait staff was attentive but didn't linger and were very timely in our needs. The only weird thing about the restaurant (but not a negative) is that the bathroom is downstairs at the end of a long, narrow hallway next to the kitchen and you can hear pots and pans banging around while in the kitchen. Otherwise, I will definitely return to Kitchen, not just during Dine in Boston Week and definitely recommend."

  • "We were very comfortable in the ample booth for five people. The service was great and we never felt rushed. The buffet brunch was very fresh, plates were being made all the time. The food was very good , we especially liked the Swedish meatballs and the home fries! We would have liked a veggie dish but the mixed berries were delicious.   • "We chose this restaurant on a whim, it was the best "pick from a hat" I've ever choosen . The manager sat us and proceeded to tell us about their concept and how the old cook books on the back wall were recipesthat gave the chefs inspiration on their dishes. We started with a salad and had a considerable sided dinner. We tried leaving room for dessert, but that didn't happen. All in all I don't want to dig in and explain every detail of how amazing the night went, I will leave that for you to have on your own. One of the best restaurants I have ever experienced."

  • "Mercifully we had eaten here on a different occasion and found the food to be very good. This time we ate on a Sunday with only option being brunch buffet. Food was only okay to good. Platters are on counter & not under any heat lamp so items such as their pancakes while having a decent flavor were almost cold. The selection was nice with good variety, but temperature of food was lukewarm and some items (such as sausage patty) were only okay as far as taste. It was a bit of a disappointment as I know they are capable of great food. Because we had been there for a non-buffet meal we will certainly return -- just not for their brunch buffet! Service, coffee, overall feel of place was very good and I would recommend it for other than buffet."

  • "I had a very poor experience last Saturday. Eat here before and it was good. Had a reservation for 8:15 with visitors from out of town. We arrived and hostess was nowhere to be found. Finally she surfaced, told us that a # of parties ahead of us(would be seated when table available but no idea when). Waited and grabbed seat at the bar. 30 minutes later, asked again about table, she basically ignored us by proving same answer (during all this time an apology was never expressed). 45 min later I asked to speak with manager. To my surprise she mentions "I'm the Manager". I could not believe that a manager would treat commuters with such arrogance. Expressed by dissatisfaction with her attitude and we left and went across the street for dinner."
