Kitchen StoryI'm very disappointed withI'm very disappointed with the management. I made a reservation for my birthday, for party of 16. I specially requested the area by the window facing 17th Street. I also called them to make sure they were able to attend big group once I the place is small. A week later, I went to the place to confirm that I was going to have the spot I requested. Apparently, they have no sense of organization. My experience wasn't a disaster because I have amazing friends. When I got there, the tables were given to other customers. The host was cynical enough to say that she never promised that front area. The table they gave me was in the very back of the restaurant, the hidden area, where I did not want. Their lack of respect is unacceptable!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic find!
This is aFantastic find!
This is a great place for the food, the service and the atmosphere.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Even though we were later for our reservation, the hostess was friendly. We had to wait for a table for a few minutes, so we ordered a bottle of wine to start drinking until they could seat our party of three. The hostess made sure our wine was put tucked away while we stood waiting, then brought it to the table when we were sat. Our waiter, Tim, was just great. Fun, friendly, knowledgable. He would hear bits of our conversation and add comments and tidbits... but in a really FUN way. He was like a fun fourth companion.
All the food was fantastic and our wine, a $40 bottle (reasonable!), was very good!
I look forward to going back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and FunThe fusion of comfort food + Asian + campy dish names seemed a bit odd at first but it was truly fun. When the waiter set my Dancing Queen (grilled beef on spiced rice) ablaze, it was a great touch and it enhanced the smoky flavor of the dish. Amazing burger and great pumpkin curry too!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMmmmmmm... baconTheir bacon is the best!!!
Dinner was great. Service was great!
Definitely going back and telling friends.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEqually great for brunch or dinnerKitchen Story is a equally good for brunch or dinner. For dinner, the Castro Tower, curries, and pad Thai are outstanding. The burger is pricey but worth it. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and pescatarians, which is always a plus. For brunch, all of the egg dishes are unique and flavorful. People go wild for the Millionnaire's Bacon...it's worth the guilt you'll feel later.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSpontaneous Night Out with FriendsWe had heard about Kitchen Story from a Foodie Friend of ours and wanted to give it a try. The opportunity arose, rather quickly, when we bumped into another hungry couple. Open Table App was used to make a very quick reservation and that was it! The rest was gastro history. We really didn't know what to expect, but once the crab cakes arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. Each of us shared/sampled each others' meals. EVERYTHING was extraordinary: Finger Lickin' fried chicken, Monterey's Muscle scallops, Dinner Beef Salad and Pad Thai. And DO NOT LEAVE without having their signature dessert - Millionaire Bacon!!!! AMAZING!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. Superb service.Have been back a couple of times with friends, and without exception every item we ordered was fantastic. Kobe roll appetizer is a must.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent fusion cuisine!Excellent fusion cuisine! They even handle fish exceptionally well - I'm so excited that I'm finding more and more restaurants which don't cook fish until it's a dry tasteless mess. Kitchen Story is no exception. Also love the rustic/industrial decor the restaurant has going. The only thing that would really keep me away is beyond the restaurant's control - it's incredibly noisy and difficult to hear each other without shouting.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter visiting for brunchAfter visiting for brunch twice before, we decided to try dinner. We had excellent help from our server who recommended some menu items that we really enjoyed. We will definitely be back!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Castro sea was delicious,The Castro sea was delicious, could've been a slightly bigger portion, but flavorful and a nice portion of avocado on top. Keep rotating the wine selection, as you have some good ones, but would be great to get a few more Sauv Blancs by the glass and more powerful reds as well.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprising Breakfast SpotMy daughter just moved in a block away and was unaware Kitchen Story served breakfast. We were delighted to find a real breakfast in a real restaurant steps away from her flat. The food was generous and delicious with all my favorites. We made a note to come back for brunch some weekend to order bottomless mimosas we spotted on the menu. By the way, the only way we would have found out Kitchen Story served breakfast was through Open Table; all of the other "what's nearby" apps missed this.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to Kitchen Story and was pleasantly surprised by the sophisticated menu and execution of each plate. Visually stunning was the Ahi Tuna scoops, not to mention absolutely delicious. The 'Big Hug was very tasty as well with Scallops wrapped with their signature maple bacon.
So interesting that I am back tomorrow night again !3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved this place!I loved this place! Everytime my partner and I would drive by Kitchen Story... there has always been a line out the door. And now we know why. We had family visit from out of town and we booked a reservation for 4 for dinner. Everything from the attentive service to the food was outstanding! Every person in our party was very happy with the experience. After our dinner we walked less then half a block to our car and we reminessed about the evening. It was so nice! We will definitely be back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly staff ready to adviseFriendly staff ready to advise how to enjoy the family style plates and servings.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFourth time dining here, andFourth time dining here, and still having a very good experience. I enjoy the friendly waitstaff, and the food is creative and delicious. Had a scramble with big chunks of avocado and cheese, very yummy. Enjoyed their americano as well - not sure what type of beans they use, but the espresso is delicious. Thumbs up and keep it up! Consistency is so key these days, with lots of competition from other local restaurants. We want this place to succeed in Castro, so please keep up the good quality experience for diners!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
