Great turkey burger and wonderful
fries! Veggie plate sparse - really could be more creative. Service a bit sluggish. Noise level moderately high."

I happen to dine and entertain in
this area 5 times a week and know all the places between 24th Street/64th Street and Lincoln/Indian School. On a Friday night during prime season, I had family in town and had not made reservations, so took a chance with Kitchen 56 because I could confirm a reservation through Open Table. My guests and I had a wonderful time, the food was great as was the service. Thank you to Kitchen 56 and Open Table for making me look like a hero to my guests. This secret will probably not last, and then next time I neglect to plan ahead I will need to wait an hour."

Glad we found K56 after a
stressful day. Relaxed, great food, full bar. One wierd touch: blue cheese stuffed olives in a Martini. Sent it back!"

I enjoyed it just as much today,
as when I went four days ago.....LOL. Tried a new item this time. The "Happy Hour" Garlic Cilantro Wings, were the best. Great flavor, and a nice spicy kick!"

We were very happily surprised by
this place (since it was an auto repair shop in its former life, we weren't expecting it to be so nice). Read the reviews on here and took a chance for Valentines dinner. Got there early and was seated right away. We ate on the patio which has some water fountains but they weren't noisy or distracting to our conversation. Had a choice of the full menu or special V Day menu. We chose the latter. Delicious!! Patio also had a guitarist who sang the usual pleasant middle of the road songs. Overall a very nice experience. We will go back. I am happy to support another indie restaurant."

I dined at this establishment for
the first time on a Sunday afternoon. The food was very good, as well as the service. I really enjoyed the Arcadia Salad. The "Happy Hour Menu" Fish and Chips, was very tasty, and not greasy like at some other restaurant establishments. I will be back to try other menu items. Portions are a bit small, but that is my only complaint."
Dined on 2/16/2014
Never think that because you are a
"regular" that it's important to this restaurant. They will still treat as expendable. Well, this will be the last time we go here - and we will share the info with all our Arcadia neighbors and friends."

Kitchen 56 is located in a cool,
renovated gas station. The ambience is nice, with a choice of inside or outside seating. Our party of 4 went on a Thursday around 6:30. The restaurant wasn't crowded, (which I liked), but seemed to have a steady stream of customers. We started with drinks - the Apple Spice Margarita being the standout. Also good was the garlic bread appetizer with San Marzano dipping sauce. The Giant Baked Potato and the Mac 'n Cheese with Bacon also got rave reviews. The "petite salad", was very good, but not so "petite". In fact, all of the portions were generous and reasonably priced. However, it was the service that really stood out. Our server was charming, funny, cheerful, and responsive. We'll be back."

You know those charming places you
see on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives? The ones where a building has been re-purposed into a restaurant. This is one. You can imagine the former garage bays where tables now sit with the concrete floors polished to a high sheen and a grand photo, wall-sized of how-it-used-to-be, on one wall. The service is fine and there are several really interesting items on the menu. Green chili-mac-and-cheese is good. The calimari appetizer is served with an Asian-peanut slaw. Unusual but very good. At our table this time, we had the pulled pork baked potato and the asian salad with grilled chicken. The potato was rated excellent. The salad and pizza were fine -- just what was wanted at the time. Try it!"

we had a party of 6 people who
came in for a late happy hour which transitioned into dinner because we were having such a good time. the patio was wonderful, music was pleasant but not too loud, and we could easily hear each other from across the couches on the patio. the service was excellent (Shawn!) and we were well taken care of. we then decided to stay for dinner and were able to get a table inside easily. the food was very good, and the calamari is definitely something special."

Eclectic place with a great view
of Camelback.. Great menu- nothing disappointed and can't wait to get back to try more of it.. Great service- our waiter was informative, and attentive and nice to talk to .. Will definately be back.."

Read the reviews and expected
more. The service was wonderful. Ashley was a great server. The food was ok, nothing bad, but I was still hungry when finished. The quantity was minimal, the quality was ok. Nothing bad, but nothing to rush back for. The atmosphere was cute....I was hungry."

We loved our food, the waiter
knows the menu well and was able to work around my dietary restrictions easily. We were not greeted for 15 mins which I feel probably is not the usual. Overall very good and an interesting cocktail list."
Dined on 1/19/2014
We drove 40 mins to try out this
place. Not worth it for the prices. Decor is a little boring. Our server was great and attentive. But overall a bland and boring dining experience :("

This is our #1 work lunch location
and great for HR."

I brought 10 friends here for
dinner and most of them live in the neighborhood but hadn't eaten here. They all loved the food and are excited to return."
Dined on 12/16/2013
We continue to eat at Kitchen 56
because it is close to our house... The food is pretty good but they just can't seem to get the service part of the restaurant business. The wait staff is very friendly but we always have to wait a long time to be waited on. It takes forever to get a drink. If you live close I would eat here."

Saturday night live music.
Cocktails are unique and delicious. Everything our party ate that night tasted great. Will definitely go here again."
Dined on 11/9/2013
The service was lackluster to the
point where I felt the need to wave some cash around to see if anyone wanted to take our order. The burger I ordered was, for the price, a bitter disappointment. It came out just like you'd expect at one of your neighbors bbq/picnics. Its like the chef was asleep back there and topped it with a wilted lettuce leaf and one, just one little ring of an onion. I had to have them bring me more toppings for it and even then, their offering was meager. Won't be surprised to see this location get made over again into a different restaurant because they just aren't up to par."

I wold give this place a 4.5 cuz
the food was pretty darn tasty and the ambiance was funky and cool. The reason it lost stars is because of Riis our server. He was good at the beginning. Then, toward the end of our meal, he went to ask his manager something and literally (we timed it) disappeared for 20 minutes. We were sitting there with no water, food was done, and ready to pay and leave. There was one other server and only 5 tables total. It was seriously the weirdest thing ever. He just vanished. And then salt on the wound...when he finally reemerged, he didn't even acknowledge that he'd been gone for eleventy bajillion minutes. So, I found that to be irritating, disappointing, and just totally unprofessional."

We have been coming here for
almost two years now and have brought friends and recommeded the place. Service has been fair to good but this last visit was a shocker. A question was asked by one in our party about how the grits were prepared and the waiter's response was " I don't know I don't make it the cook in the back does". Our friend didn't response to that rude statement and proceeded to order. I was stunned and so was everyone else. It did leave a bad taste in our mouth and we won't forget it. Will we comeback? probably but I hope management trains it's wait staff to answer customer questions with more knowledge about the food on the menu and how it is prepared."

This place was ok. The only good
thing was that my daughter's meal was free. Otherwise I would not have been happy."
Dined on 9/14/2013
Stopped by for the first time and
ordered the fish & chips. Amazingly light cornmeal batter, fresh flaky white cod, and not greasy at all. The fries were good too. The service was great. The place is immaculate. All-in-all it was a good experience. It was not a busy time of day so our "quiet" review of the noise level reflects that."
Dined on 9/10/2013
if one wants a meal with no
fanfare and frill, just good food and good service this is the place. have been here several times and it is always perfect for quick, unprentious dining. Menu offers a ide variety for anyone's taste always orepared to your liking and brought to you by friendly, polte and respectful wait people. The jostess is delightful and welcoming every time as if you are the sole occupant. the bar is at one end and that is a bit of a distraction because the noise level is raised by what is usuallt a full bar. No spearation from the dining area. a very simple down-to-earth restaurant but most welcoming and good food. We have eaten here amny times and look forward to the next time soon. Highly recommmend."

This is our second time to Kitchen
56. We were in Phoenix for the evening and remembered our last visit here was a good experience. The service was especially attentive and our meals were both excellent."

Great place for either Happy Hour
nibbles or full course meal, made reaffservation for 10, but two were no-shows , but no problem for staff."
Dined on 8/23/2013
This was our first time at Kitchen
56 and it won't be our last. The food was excellent and our server, Mark, was knowledgeable and fun. There was also musical entertainment which was good, but not so loud that we couldn't talk. We are already planning on going back to try more of their specialities. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone."

Kitchen 56 is another of the great
places to dine in the Arcadia area. Great menu that is quite creative and extremely tasty. This was out first time dining there and won't be our last. The prosciutto fig pizza was amazing."
Dined on 8/10/2013
Everything aspect of the
experience was good to very good. We were a group of four and it was wonderful to be able to speak to one another without shouting. The menu offers a wide variety so if you want light fare there are excellent dishes and if your appetite is bigger, there are many items from which to choose. i would go there again and soon!"

Usually Kitchen 56 is one of my
favorites, and I was thrilled when it opened in "my" neighborhood. This time - the first time we had been able to get back in months due to medical issues - I was disappointed, particularly in the service. Our server forgot one of the items I'd ordered and then spent many minutes chatting up another table before I was able to get his attention. While he apologized, getting half of one's entree at the end of the meal should maybe merit something (no charge on the entree? free drink or dessert?). Although my husband says they have the best burger in town, he is always reluctant to go to Kitchen 56. I may now share his sentiment."

Used to be an old gas station -
you can see the photo of it when you walk into the restaurant - small, nostalgic ambiance - bar is personable - food is great - I always get a salad - the arcadia is a nice one - green apples, fresh greens, grilled chicken and home made dressing. The stir fry is light and delicious - great happy hour prices all day on Sunday! Best part about this place is the service is always great - very attentive staff -- a great find."

We met another couple there for
happy hour and then dinner and everyone enjoyed the place immensely. The menu had changed a couple of days before our visit, so there were some things on the web-site menu that were no longer on the menu, but everything we had to eat was great. Decent wine list and solid neighborhood eatery ambiance. It's quite a ways from our home, but we'll definitely be back."
Dined on 6/22/2013
Friendly ambiance. Live musician
that was very good. Had read reviews before going and upon returning, agreed that they were accurate. 1 had the pulled pork, rating it excellent, 2 had chicken stir fry, also excellent, 1 had short ribs, excellent again and the last had pork chop and rated it too fatty and gristly. All all agreed it was a fun and good pick for the birthday we were celebrating. Our waiter was pretty slow, but helpful enough."

We all live a considerable
distance from Kitchen 56, yet this is our 5th visit. Our table was ready as reserved. The welcome and service was excellent from the start- low key but professional and we never wanted for anything. We love the menu- trendy and eclectic but solid with something for everyone in our party of five. Drink service was fast, efficient and accurate with everything prepared exactly to order. We all look forward to next time."
Dined on 6/5/2013
We had a good dinner and enjoyed
the local - the old gas service station in a nice area. We have driven past it may times and finally stopped and enjoyed a relaxing Saturday night dinner."
Dined on 6/2/2013
The restaurant had a very open and
friendly environment. The food was fairly good and so was the service. However, the menu on the website is very outdated compared to what you received at the restaurant. Also, we hung out at our table for about an hour after our bill was paid and no one ever stopped by to see if we wanted anymore water or anything else. The pulled pork sandwich looked especially good. I plan to return at least one more time and try some other items on the menu."
Dined on 6/1/2013
We needed a meal reasonably near
the airport and did not want to do chain restaurants. Kitchen 56 turned out to be just right. The food was good, the service totally suitable. It is not a fancy place, but it was a good meal with good wine and served our needs well."
Dined on 5/26/2013
I have been there several times
now...been happy with every visit. Have found some favorite dishes, but want to go back to find more. I find their dishes are not typical or found elsewhere. Unique and pleasant twists. For me, a nice low key vibe but still hip enough to be interesting. I don't typically order appitzers at restaurants, but I do here...I enjoy their food enough to investigate their creations. BRAVO...a great find! Normally my wife and I go alone for a special indulgence...this time we brought the family and everyone was pleased."
Dined on 5/26/2013
Would not recommend for dinner.
Great place for a late lunch. The Calamari is fantastic! A definate must try, it is prepared different than most places and that is what makes it truly unique."
Dined on 1/19/2013
Met family from across the Valley
here for Sunday lunch. It was convenient and conducive to conversation. Prices were reasonable. The food was adequate but not exciting. I ordered the three cheese and basil omelet, but the cook forgot the basil. My brother enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich, and the side salads were nice. The prosciutto/fig/arugula pannini was disappointing. The bread was more Texas toast than pannini and there was very little inside. We may meet here again when we need a central location."
