A word from Kitchen 56
Kitchen 56 is a friendly retro yet modern neighborhood restaurant set in a quirky and sleekly remodeled 1960’s Garage. With a spectacular panoramic view of Camelback Mountain the 360 degree full bar is open to the large comfortable patio with sparkling fountains.
Try the succulent house
smoked pulled pork sandwich, a light salad of mixed greens with cranberries, candied pecans, bleu cheese and citrus vinaigrette. Happy Hours are everyday from 3-6pm with food and drink specials. This is an original restaurant owned by locals. Get the flavor of the neighborhood, it's casual but cool. Serving lunch and dinner daily starting at 11am.

Overall we had a good experience
at Kitchen 56. Everyone at our table loved their meals, and my veggie firebread sandwich was to die for. The wood-fired flavor on the veggies was strong and incredible. I'd definitely have it again. Other than that, our drinks were just okay - nothing too special or outstanding about the cocktails, but drinkable - and our server wasn't terribly knowledgeable about the available liquors or flavor profiles of the drinks. But we did have a good time, and I think we'll be back."

Personally, I have been to Kitchen
56 several times, but this time I brought along a friend for the first time. As usual, I enjoyed all of my food. The Arcadia Salad, (although quite small for the price), is always delicious, as was my Ahi Tuna Entrée. My friend had the Calamari appetizer, and the Pork Chop Entrée, both of which he enjoyed. The Sunday entertainment on 7/27/14, was terrific. Please bring him back!"

We came to Kitchen 56 fir a
surprise birthday dinner. The wait staff helped me pick a dessert to surprise our friend. Then, our server snuck up behind him with the desert while we sang. It was perfect! A++"

which was noted when I made the reservation. There was no recognition. The "birthday girl" would have died had I been caught mentioning it to staff. A missed opportunity. Food and service was good. Will go back - and do recommend dining here."

Been in Phx a week working on
project so I used Open Table to review available local resturants. Kitchen 56 looked like a good local choice. Beer and apps @ 1/2 price. Very varied drink selection but I went with a new beer - which was cold and tasty. Portion size of wings could have been a meal. Spicy but a little dry. Very tasty dipping asuce. Really disappointed in baby rack ribs which waitress told me was on of their specials. Very tender but too much sauce so I couldn't taste the meat. Sides of mashed potatoes and cabbage made for interesting chioices"

Wings were awesome! Had lunch
there before and was good. But ordered chicken flatbread and thought was a pizza kind of dish and was a sandwich. On gray flatbread- like they purposely burned it. At first glance I thought it was a mushroom. "

We found Kitchen 56 on YELP and
thought we would try it out for Easter lunch. We were so glad that we did! It was so nice to sit outside on the patio and eat the tasty food. They have a smaller menu, but it was still hard to chose what we wanted. The burger was fantastic - so full of flavor, but the green mac & cheese was out of this world! We will definitely be back to try other menu items!"

Our first time here, we really
enjoyed the outdoor dining area, my daughter especially liked the water fountains. The meals were excellent, wait staff was prompt & friendly, and the Bloody Mary station was first rate. Will definitely be going again! "

Kitchen 56 is a wonderful
neighborhood eatery - its clientele is from all age ranges and this creates a very relaxed friendly atmosphere. Our party of six shared edamame beans covered in a wonderful light sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts and chicken wings (they were a bit dry) to start. Our entrees were superb with the burgers a strong favorite. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and attentive to our needs. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Kitchen 56 to anyone who wanted a relaxed night out with great food in a friendly atmosphere."

This visit was actually my second
trip to Kitchen 56, and it was just as good the second time around. We started with a few drinks at the bar which was busy but not overcrowded. The drinks were different and tasty - one friend's long island was a bit strong. We then had an appetizer and a couple of entrees - everything was fresh and tasted great! The wait staff was attentive, answered questions about the menu but didn't interrupt conversation. Water glasses were regularly filled. We had a great time - and will be back."

I happen to dine and entertain in
this area 5 times a week and know all the places between 24th Street/64th Street and Lincoln/Indian School. On a Friday night during prime season, I had family in town and had not made reservations, so took a chance with Kitchen 56 because I could confirm a reservation through Open Table. My guests and I had a wonderful time, the food was great as was the service. Thank you to Kitchen 56 and Open Table for making me look like a hero to my guests. This secret will probably not last, and then next time I neglect to plan ahead I will need to wait an hour."

I dined at this establishment for
the first time on a Sunday afternoon. The food was very good, as well as the service. I really enjoyed the Arcadia Salad. The "Happy Hour Menu" Fish and Chips, was very tasty, and not greasy like at some other restaurant establishments. I will be back to try other menu items. Portions are a bit small, but that is my only complaint."

We were very happily surprised by
this place (since it was an auto repair shop in its former life, we weren't expecting it to be so nice). Read the reviews on here and took a chance for Valentines dinner. Got there early and was seated right away. We ate on the patio which has some water fountains but they weren't noisy or distracting to our conversation. Had a choice of the full menu or special V Day menu. We chose the latter. Delicious!! Patio also had a guitarist who sang the usual pleasant middle of the road songs. Overall a very nice experience. We will go back. I am happy to support another indie restaurant."

You know those charming places you
see on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives? The ones where a building has been re-purposed into a restaurant. This is one. You can imagine the former garage bays where tables now sit with the concrete floors polished to a high sheen and a grand photo, wall-sized of how-it-used-to-be, on one wall. The service is fine and there are several really interesting items on the menu. Green chili-mac-and-cheese is good. The calimari appetizer is served with an Asian-peanut slaw. Unusual but very good. At our table this time, we had the pulled pork baked potato and the asian salad with grilled chicken. The potato was rated excellent. The salad and pizza were fine -- just what was wanted at the time. Try it!"

Kitchen 56 is located in a cool,
renovated gas station. The ambience is nice, with a choice of inside or outside seating. Our party of 4 went on a Thursday around 6:30. The restaurant wasn't crowded, (which I liked), but seemed to have a steady stream of customers. We started with drinks - the Apple Spice Margarita being the standout. Also good was the garlic bread appetizer with San Marzano dipping sauce. The Giant Baked Potato and the Mac 'n Cheese with Bacon also got rave reviews. The "petite salad", was very good, but not so "petite". In fact, all of the portions were generous and reasonably priced. However, it was the service that really stood out. Our server was charming, funny, cheerful, and responsive. We'll be back."

we had a party of 6 people who
came in for a late happy hour which transitioned into dinner because we were having such a good time. the patio was wonderful, music was pleasant but not too loud, and we could easily hear each other from across the couches on the patio. the service was excellent (Shawn!) and we were well taken care of. we then decided to stay for dinner and were able to get a table inside easily. the food was very good, and the calamari is definitely something special."

We continue to eat at Kitchen 56
because it is close to our house... The food is pretty good but they just can't seem to get the service part of the restaurant business. The wait staff is very friendly but we always have to wait a long time to be waited on. It takes forever to get a drink. If you live close I would eat here."

I wold give this place a 4.5 cuz
the food was pretty darn tasty and the ambiance was funky and cool. The reason it lost stars is because of Riis our server. He was good at the beginning. Then, toward the end of our meal, he went to ask his manager something and literally (we timed it) disappeared for 20 minutes. We were sitting there with no water, food was done, and ready to pay and leave. There was one other server and only 5 tables total. It was seriously the weirdest thing ever. He just vanished. And then salt on the wound...when he finally reemerged, he didn't even acknowledge that he'd been gone for eleventy bajillion minutes. So, I found that to be irritating, disappointing, and just totally unprofessional."

We have been coming here for
almost two years now and have brought friends and recommeded the place. Service has been fair to good but this last visit was a shocker. A question was asked by one in our party about how the grits were prepared and the waiter's response was " I don't know I don't make it the cook in the back does". Our friend didn't response to that rude statement and proceeded to order. I was stunned and so was everyone else. It did leave a bad taste in our mouth and we won't forget it. Will we comeback? probably but I hope management trains it's wait staff to answer customer questions with more knowledge about the food on the menu and how it is prepared."

ordered the fish & chips. Amazingly light cornmeal batter, fresh flaky white cod, and not greasy at all. The fries were good too. The service was great. The place is immaculate. All-in-all it was a good experience. It was not a busy time of day so our "quiet" review of the noise level reflects that."

if one wants a meal with no
fanfare and frill, just good food and good service this is the place. have been here several times and it is always perfect for quick, unprentious dining. Menu offers a ide variety for anyone's taste always orepared to your liking and brought to you by friendly, polte and respectful wait people. The jostess is delightful and welcoming every time as if you are the sole occupant. the bar is at one end and that is a bit of a distraction because the noise level is raised by what is usuallt a full bar. No spearation from the dining area. a very simple down-to-earth restaurant but most welcoming and good food. We have eaten here amny times and look forward to the next time soon. Highly recommmend."
