The food was excellent - we all shared the duck risotto and loved it and each enjoyed our entrees and desserts! The cocktails were strong too. Our first server was great. He knew the menu, he was friendly, and attentive (initially). However after we got our entrees our server switched and we had trouble ordering more drinks and seeing the dessert menu. I think they just got a little too busy. Nonetheless we really enjoyed our dinner.

Our dinner experience could be likened to an episode of The Three Stooges. Appetiser brought to table before cocktails. Sent it back. My husband ordered a second drink as entrees were served and he never got it despite several reminders. Had to ask for bread. One roll appeared for only one of us. No butter. Water glasses were kept filled. Unfortunalely, water was warm. Duck risotto was overwhelmed with taste of cheese. Felt rushed and ignored throughout. Too bad.

I'd been wanting to try Kitchen for some time, and was very pleased when I did the other night. Food was excellent. Menu has good choices for light and heavier eaters, nice variety of veggie, fish, meat. And who doesn't like a deviled egg? Oh, maybe the Paleo people. But they don't really like food, do they???

Small, unpretentious, South End gem with great food. I had the venison with coffee beans and cacao which was totally amazing - a new dish for the fall season. Other diners in the party had the hamburger, which received raves as the best hamburger he'd ever tasted. It was pretty amazing, apparently they crush some bacon into the hamburger patty which give a smokey rich flavor, and the bun is freshly made. A third diner had the classic Lobster Thermador, perfectly prepared. This is one of my go-to places for introducing people to the South End food scene. Waitstaff is great, knowledgeable. Cocktails and wine list very good too. A few outdoor tables allows people watching on Tremont Street - always a great floor show.

Brought a friend in from out of town. My wife had heard of the restaurant and we brought our daughter as well. Very quiet, but we arrived early on a Sunday evening. Had appetizers, dinner and dessert as well a drink to start off. All food was excellent! Our server was very, very good; excellent with the recommendations and very attentive without being overbearing. My daughter had a an excellent meal, but she does like things that many 7 year olds might not (she had the mussels appetizer as her meal!) Overall, an excellent time.

The food was very good and yet I am not jumping up and down. There was a little something wrong with everything although not really significant enough to complain about, except maybe the bread. I was thrilled that they preented their regular full menu for Dine Out weeks. That took me back. I comes in 3rd in the 4 places I dines at for Dine out Boston. Mooo and Clink edged it out. Towne was a distant 4th place.

Taking advantage of restaurant week-starter: fresh oyster and mussel, it was fresh but the oysters needs to be clean before serving raw half shell since I kept on getting piece of shell overall it was delicious. Entree:1/2 roasted chicken was cooked perfectly but I would prefer more seasoning like fresh ground pepper or herb seasoning on the skin of the chicken to give it that layers of flavor. Filet Mignon was undercook when I wanted medium rare not rare on the fly but the foie gras was melting in my mouth. Desserts: homemade truffle and cheesecake is awesomely filling any dessert cravings you have.

From the mushrooms "under glass" (some of the most delicious mushrooms I've had!), to the buttery beef tenderloin, to the out-of-this-world donuts, Kitchen was a totally impressive experience! This still seems like a hidden gem, in a sea of other South End restaurants, but definitely worth a visit, or multiple!

I recently ate here one a date during restaurant week. It was all I could have asked for. The tables were close together yet far enough apart that I couldnt hear others' conversations. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Our server was super friendly and knowledgable about the menu. My only complaint was the dinner rolls. Do they make them without salt? I am not sure but they lack flavor. Great overall and I would go back.

Kitchen was a very good experience - I had a reservation and they sat me right away, I love the "Kitchen-y" decor and the table was clean and comfortable. We got the Mushroom Under Glass and Scallops appetizer, which were both AMAZING! So yummy. Entrees were only okay... the sole was really salty (as though the fish itself was soaking in a bath of salt), zucchini/squash mixture was nothing special and loaded with oregano and the potatoes had a little more crunch than I prefer. The duck breast dish my friend got looked good, I didn't hear her feedback. Service was great, I loved her energy and was always attentive at the right times. I would come back and perhaps try a different entree!

I came here for Dine Out (Restaurant week) and I was extremely pleased. I've often found that restaurants don't put as much "effort" into their restaurant week dishes as they would for their regular menu or simply have very very few options in comparison. Not the case here. Not only did Kitchen offer at least 6/7 options for each part of the meal, but each of my choices was amazing. I had the scallops, beef tenderloin then the cheesecake and I couldn't have been happier. I'd even come back for another meal here since there were so many other delicious looking things on their rest. week menu.

1st time @ the south end-very charming area of Boston i've never been to before. restaurant week lunch: fresh oysters-delicious & sweet where 4 was not enough. scallop- disappointed cause it's a single scallop which i think they could have done 2 scallops but it was fresh and well balanced with corn creams sauce with some type of thick cut bacon/ham. entree-duck risotto: 1st time i ever had duck in risotto but the combo works heavenly paired with cherry sauce. short ribs: cooked perfectly melting in your mouth but i think it lacked a little bit of salt and pepper and the mash potato is smooth and creamy. dessert was good-doughnuts & ice cream: doughnuts were over fried to more a dark crisp and texture was not like a donut.

Everything from their food to the service to the decor was absolutely perfect, and I can't wait for the next time I come. I ate the three course meal of Scallops, Duck Risotto, and Doughnuts. I think my favorite part had to be either the scallops or the doughnuts. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly! One thing that I was slightly concerned about was the entree portion size. The appetizer was one scallop (which was perfect), but the duck risotto dish was too big. Every bite was flavorful and delicious, but near the end, I could barely finish the entree. I like to be satisfied and full after a dinner, but not completely stuffed. The dessert portion was very appropriate.

We've been to Kitchen many, many times. The food escalates from good to fantastic; but the service is consistently between languid and pathetic. Cheerful staff, but seemingly untrained to be alert and responsive. Lately, we waited for 20 minutes for WATER and for someone to take our drink order; at this point the app order was entered and came with the drink order, but then to order the main order needed flagging.... This experience (and others similar) are not deal-changers for now, BUT there are other options in the South End. Your Manager Danielle is STAR.

The concept is old american recipes with a modern twist. The snacks are all from Betty Crocker's cookbook. I'm eating at a restaurant? Choices all heavy, boring, full of cream, sauces and carbs. Over buttered toasted brioche bread incorporated into many appetizers and entrees. My expensive mixed mushroom appetizer had melted cheese on it and was served on brioche. My fish so undercooked left a huge raw piece on my plate. The busboys and hostess 3 times tried to take my husbands food away while he was still eating because they were full and apparently needed the table-- I literally had food in my mouth when they took my appetizer plate. Check delivered while we still had half a bottle of wine. Can't imagine who would go back twice.

My friends and I grabbed an early dinner at Kitchen before a show at the Calderwood. Excellent service. Waiter gave just the right amount of attention to the table. I had the pasta dish which was really yummy…creamy with subtle flavors. I relished every bite. Well done! Everyone I was with enjoyed their choices. Also, we also shared a couple of deserts. I especially thought the cheesecake was nice, not too sweet…the way a good homemade cheesecake would taste. I'll definitely go back; I'd like to try brunch.

I'm all for paying a fair price (or more likely in the south end, paying more) for a good meal, and nothing tasted bad. That said, the scallops were delicious (they should make an entree) and my friend had the duck and enjoyed it. That being said, the potatoes tasted bland and like instant potatoes. My friend was not impressed with the brussells sprouts.

I went for brunch with a friend on Saturday morning. The ambiance was terrific, the waitstaff was attentive, and the food was delicious- all was great except for the $55 cost for brunch for 2. One of the biggest culprits for why the brunch price tag was so high was because they charge you $4.50 per cup of coffee, which comes in an admittedly nice french press. My friend and I shared 1 french press, which one would think would come out to $4.50 total but they in fact charged us $9. Why would anyone want to pay $9 for 16 ounces of coffee?!? And we made the mistake of getting an 8 ounce refill of coffee, which ended up costing another $4.50. $13.50 on coffee here could almost pay for 2 for brunch at any of the other fabulous S End spots.
