A word from Kirby's Prime Steakhouse - Southlake
Continuing the legacy of Dallas' Original Steakhouse, Est. 1954, Kirby's Prime Steakhouse in Southlake, Est. 1999, is an award winning restaurant featuring Mid-Western, grain fed, aged prime beef. Kirby's also offers fresh seafood, daily specials, and a spectacular collection of New and Old World wine housed in an impressive cellar of over 3,000 bottles. Kirby's boasts a trendy jazz bar and lounge featuring live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. To compliment their excellent wine selection is classically trained Corporate Executive Chef Daniel Nemec. Chef Nemec seeks to introduce the culinary versatility of Kirby's cuisine to the newcomer, and to charm the well-educated diner with the tastes, colors, aromas, and preparation of the dishes Kirby's has to offer. Guests can enjoy one of Kirby's wonderful cocktails in the lounge or partake in a glass of wine selected by certified Sommelier, Bil Semon. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I was looking for a change up this time from my customary filet, and decided to ask for a simple grilled chicken. They brought out a delightful partially breaded chicken with the leg bone in. It came with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, which were prepared to perfection and an optional sauce! I would recommend asking for this in the absence of wanting a steak!"

  • "Can't believe we missed this for so long. The epitome of fine dining...and the food to die for...the Tournedos Bernaise melts in your mouth. But after an excellent meal with wonderful service, the icing on the cake was the dessert menu. FINALLY, light...and chocolate...desserts to tempt a lady's heart...even after a five course meal. And the dress code, while not super casual, was relaxed and welcoming. All in all, our new venue to head for after a stressful day (sans children) or any ole time at all."

  • "Our friends recommended Kirby's and we tried it for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. We were pleased with the excellent, attentive service from our knowledgeable waiter, Nick. We started with the deep-fried asparagus. I had a very flavorful lobster bisque and my husband had a seafood salad. We had some beautifully cooked (although rather liberally salted!) steaks. We had a scrumptious lobster risotto and creamed spinach for our sides. These, along with the house salads that came with the steak made for a lot of food. We ended up taking home enough to have a lunch the following day! Because it was our anniversary, they boxed up a free carrot cake for us to take home and gave us a $20.00 gift card - a lovely touch!"

  • "I am convinced that you will find the best steak, in my case, the filet, here at Kirbys. I dined at the bar, and the ambience, and service was as good as the meal!"

  • "Our food was fabulous! our 7 year old grand daughter had the chicken tenders and loved the seafood for 4 appetizers and the bread! Our 14 year old had the shrimp with the lump crab and clam chowder; my husband had the red fish and the lobster bisque and I ate the lobster bisque and the rib eye Med rare and it was perfect! We truly enjoyed the service and the food. We will go back again!"

  • "You can find any of your favorite red or white wines here! The wine steward has clearly shown he is captive to no corporate interests by maintaining a true variety from the best of Orrin Swift to French Reds to Caymus! The food to order with it, is also good!"

  • "Visit Kirby's in Southlake very often and especially on Sunday (half off wine night). The steak was excellent though the salad had many pieces of brown lettuce and, my biggest problem, the server was not very attentive. By the time he came back to check on us the entrees were arriving. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasty and the wine selection is excellent. I will return but I do get frustrated by service problems."

  • "Go here on Sunday, when most restaurants are not even open, and you will find a crowd anxious to take advantage of any bottle of wine under 200 for one half price. In everyday parlance, this means you can get a bottle of wine, for the same, or less, than you would pay at retail at central mkt, or market street. The good food remains the same, too!"

  • "We go to Kirby's every year for our anniversary and are never disappointed. Elegant setting, yet still very friendly atmosphere. Steaks are tender and juicy. and love those mashed potatoes! Our service was great from Nick and those who supported him. Love!"

  • "Both my wifes steak and my steak were extremely overcooked. ordered a Filet medium and came out well. we dont normally complain so we did not return them, but were very unhappy. Did not expect this when ordering a $50 steak. The staff were all very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. however we didnt go there for the staff. we went for a nice dinner which did not happen i took the time to email the general manager about this assuming that he would like to be aware of this. he did not respond, so i assume does not care. needless to say i will not return."

  • "Unfortunately, we had a so so experience at Kirby's Southlake. My wifes meal (chefs special) was raw. Calamari rubbery. The server attemted to repair our experience with free dessert. We love Kirby's but this experience left us wanting more."

  • "Fantastic service and food. Celebrated a birthday and were treated like royalty. Active bar scene with live music did make for a noisy atmosphere, but we were seated near the bar. If you don't enjoy that scene, I would request a table further from the bar. Great experience."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "If you sit at the bar before 7 PM on a weekday, you can catch the lamb chop(s) appetizer, which is the size of an entree', anywhere else, and for only 9.75. The order consists of three good size lamb chops, with sauce on the side. They are cooked to Medium Rare, unless you specify otherwise, and are grilled to perfection!"

  • "Tried the grilled salmon for the first time here, and was quite pleased! Enjoyed the dish with the side of wiled spinach, which was also executed well!"

  • "Upon being seated, our server was to us within 2 minutes. He and the staff assisting him were very attentive. Food came from the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time. Water and drinks were continually refreshed. I and my wife will be revisiting Kirby's. The location between Dallas and Fort Worth is also a bonus. We met a friend who arrived from DFW and this was a great spot to meet."

  • "Kirby's ignored my note that this was a birthday dinner. The table was not set for the proper number of guests and when the busboy cleared the dinnerware he did so with a vengeance. The clanking and clattering was enough to make your ears bleed. The waitress was less than charming although she tried really hard. Her skills were more along the level of Humperdink's or Cheddars's. The food was ok. The ambience was nice. This location is nothing like the Greenville Ave location. We won't go back. For nearly $200.00 for two people I expected better than that."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "Kirby's is the best Steakhouse in D/FW! The ambience is just right, the food second to none, and the service exactly what you want - there when you need something, and allowing you to enjoy your dining experience during the evening. I highly recommend Kirby's!"

  • "It was impeccable and I would never expect anything less. Always consistent. Keeps us coming back."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "..Is also good here! Try the chopped salad with blue cheese, apples, and bacon. A veggie side to suggest is the chopped spinach with garlic, always a healthy choice along with the great bread!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Apparently if the restaurant is full, they don't have enough wait staff. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to come by after we were seated. Another 10 minutes before we received our drinks. Not the level of service I would expect from an upscale Steakhouse."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Food was great! Highly recommend the grilled tequila shrimp appetizer. I had the red fish which was superb and my husband had a filet that had a wonderful smokey flavor. They have an extraordinary wine list. Our server was extremely attentive but not bothersome. Will definitely be going back but asking for a quieter table. It is rather noisy at Kirby's. We were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and struggled to have a conversation."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "If you are seeking a good side to accompany your steak here, look no further than the chopped salad, which you can order either as a full, or half order. It comes with bleu cheese, bacon, apples, and walnuts, mixed into the lettuce-good stuff!"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Always enjoy this restaurant. Good food and the service is excellent. Keith was our waiter this time and he made my husband's birthday special!"

  • "Dine here several times a year and a friend has their annual Christmas gathering here. Everything they do from Great food to Great service deserves an outstanding rating. Great wine list as well."

  • "Had a wonderful evening at Kirby's for our house closing celebration. Our server- Keith, was fantastic as well as the bartender. Had the first correctly made extra dry martini in quite a while. Only complaint is our steaks were over done. We both ordered medium rare but my wife's strip steak was medium well and on the tough side. My rib eye was medium but at lease it was still tender. Side dishes and appetizers were outstanding."
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "While dining at the bar, I overheard the couple next to me discussing how they had requested a hard to make martini all over town, and Max, the bartender at Kirbys, had nailed it! These guys (and ladies) really do a good job here!"
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "If you want to try something different, and delicious at Kirby, give this one a try! It is surprisingly lean, crispy, and delicious!"
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "Tried Kirby's for the first time for our anniversary after seeing good reviews. What a great experience! Staff was friendly and service was great, and our server did a great job recommending wine and side dishes to go with our main course. Great steak and one of the better means I've had in a while. They even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary, along with a gift card!"

  • "Loved both the great experience, not to mention the 1,000 points added to your account when you complete your dine here! Together, a great bargain, and evening out!"

  • "Check out the new Summer Menu it's awesome!! The staff will take care of your every need from the moment you walk in the door."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "For any of you who are fans of Orrin Swift's abstract cabernet-you know it is no longer in retail now, due to the seasonal change. They still have plenty here-by the glass, and by the bottle! Further evidence of the excellent job the wine manager does here!"

  • "We generally go to Kirbys for all our special occasions and a few in-between times also. Their service is always great and so is their food."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "I've been going to Kirby's for over 6 years not and it consistently provide a great time for us. The staff is awesome and many have been there for as long as I have been going. Thomas (the wine sommelier) is a super cool part and he really cares about what he does and if you like what he has recommended. I've had several different waiters and waitresses and have always had a great experience. I've met the owners and you can definitely tell the overall attitude of this restaurant starts at the top and works all the way down to the greeters. I love the place! Also, if you are a wine snob, do not miss the baked herb boursin cheese appetizer. Everything is fantastic! Always!"

  • "There for anniversary food was great and the service was wonderful. We will go there again."
    Dined on 6/4/2014
  • "We have dined at Kirby's-Southlake a number of times and yet have tended to select other (newer) restaurants in recent years. Decided to revisit Kirby's for an anniversary dinner and enjoyed one of the most tender and perfectly cooked filets in recent memory. Service was friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Server brought us a complimentary dessert and wished us a happy anniversary. Really had no complaints. My only negative comment would be that the wine menu is over-priced ($5 - $10 per bottle) compared to other high-end steakhouses. I don't mind paying extra for a good bottle of wine but don't like the idea of being gouged. Don't recall that being an issue on previous visits."
    Dined on 6/5/2014
  • "Can't say enough about the wine list at this venue! It is a virtual library, of every wine you would like to enjoy, in all varietals! You can find Orrin Swift, Opus One, Caymus, and Mi Sueno, all in one list. In most restaurants, you go in wondering which one from that list will be missing-not here!"

  • "Came on a night that two conventions from the Gaylord happened to be downloading into Kirbys. All three bartenders were swamped, but still managed to give excellent service and attention to regular customers-kudos!"

  • "I deviated from the norm and ordered the chicken florentine, and was pleasantly surprised to find the chicken was thin, well proportioned, and crispy. It came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes which was exceptional!"

  • "This was our second time visiting Kirby's Prime Steakhouse and the steak is so delicious! The service is impeccable and the dessert was to die for. I would recommend Kirby's over and over again, you would not be disappointed."
