Diner Reviews
  • "Loved the 5-course meal. "Most perfect meal ever!" was the comment at our table. The Idli, Vada with Coconut Chutney & Sambar was amazing - just the right amount of spice. Kiran's Egg Benedict was unique - the crab was exquisite. Even the salad stood out -- the heirloom tomatoes were bright and her balsalmic reduction added an amazing flavor. "Surf N Turf" of salmon & lamb was so flavorful. Topped it off with homemade ice cream & sorbets -- as outstanding as every dish. Can't say enough about how great the meal and the experience was. Live Jazz music added a special touch to the ambience. Kiran makes every visit special. Thanks for a great Easter meal!"

  • "We went for easter brunch. The food was excellent, the service even better. The only problem was the table behind us had two out of control and very noisy children, which ruined the enjoyment of our very expensive meal. "

  • "Indian cuisine may not seem the most typical choice for brunch on Easter Sunday, but since Kiran's always does a magnificent job, we trusted our family celebration to the chef-owner and staff. The five-course meal, with two courses offering choices, was terrific. And both the vibe in the dining room and the quality of service were first-rate. And if you don't feel like Indian food for Easter (or Thanksgiving, or another holiday), you really should feel like going to Kiran's for dinner anytime."

  • "My daughter and I were transported to a time long gone...we rarely eat out because the quality of food and ambiance is very poor everywhere,I am never satisfied so I now refuse to eat out..thank goodness for this place I now have a special place to go..it is a wonderful dining experience, the service was impeccable ,the ambiance was perfect, and Chef Kiran's menu is outstanding. I really loved how the food was spaced out so well...a wonderful two hours The afternoon tea was half the price of tea in London and it was equally as good. I have also enjoyed dinner here..I am looking forward to my next visit...you will not be disappointed !! "

  • "We had guests visiting from San Francisco They loved the food and the service. They said Kira a was equal or netter than any Indian restaurant in San Francisco We enjoyed our dinner. Thanks. "

  • "Modern twist on traditional Indian food; quite pleasant for most items but a few items should be left alone (what did you do that the normally delicious and simple pilau rice? Just too sweet for my palate). Very pricey so reserve for special occasions."

  • "Dinner with veteran travelers to India and foodies. All agreed we felt like we were back at the Imperial or the Oberoi dining rooms in Northern India. Sophisticated crowd from the neighborhood on a Tuesday evening. Started with cocktails and Samosa's, and tasted our way into okra, dahl and Biryani. Then onto Lamb Vendaloo and Naan right out of the oven. Appetizer portions are enough for two, sides are enough for 4 hungry diners. Nice and quiet enough for a one on one discussion, but not too quiet. All in All wonderful experience. another nice surprise in Houston!"

  • "Great authentic Indian food. More on the pricey side, so save for client or special occasions."

  • "What was originally a date for two turned into a double date, but the ambience and food allowed it to still be completely romantic. Everything was delicious from the drinks to the food to the dessert. Granted the dessert menu was a little misleading on descriptions, but overall it was a great experience."

  • "I looked forward to the meal but from the starters Samosas and Baji through to the Chicken Masala all I tasted was hot chillies and no other flavours. A real shame as for the money I expected better. Good service. I just feel there are better authentic Indian restaurants for the money in Houston."

  • "Bravo! Always a memorable meal and this time was no disappointment. 10's on accounts, food, service, atmosphere! One superlative after another. You won't be disappointed. The quality of ingredients, the quality of preparation and the robust flavors always leave one with a self promise to return."

  • "We reserved our table online and still waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Ordered several plates to share. Food temperature was under hot, but the flavors were sensational. My "summer in bombay" was forgotten but when it finally came around, surpassed my expectations. Our side of rice was left out until we were finally checked on again, nearly after our meal was complete. Dessert was fresh and cleansing to the palate. In general, delicious food and lackluster service."

  • "from the dishes presentation to the quality of the ingredients, you know this place is very good. everything was well prepared and full of flavors. service was outstanding. i eat out every night, and this is one of the restaurants in my book that i typically take out-of-towners for a special occasion and intro to the Indian cuisine."

  • "I took a friend for the Saturday afternoon tea service. The food was lovely, with a pleasant hint of India. the teas were very good and the service was attentive. I like the restaurant a lot having been there many times before. The tea is great and I will be back."

  • "I visited Kiran's based on Houston's top 100 restaurant rating howver the expereince was not good at all. I ordered appetizers (Sabudana Vada) based on the Server's recommendation they were uncooked and had twice the salt and had to return them and all I got was sorry no alternate recommendation or how can we make it up to you. The main course was okay nothing to rave about and service was slow lot of staff but people had to wait a while to get the food"

  • "My wife and I were here for our first wedding anniversary. The food was outstanding, I feel that the vegetarian dishes that my wife got were far superior in flavor to the lamb chops that I ordered. Not that the lamb was subpar, the vegetarian dishes were just that outstanding. Small dining room with tables very close together, we would've enjoyed our visit a lot more with more privacy."

  • "Busy..busy...busy....slow service and food was "good" not exceptional. A bit too large, many diners...I guess I was hoping for more attention to detail and personal service....but it was a Sat. night."

  • "I have entertained clients here before (Native's of India) and have loved it. This is the first time I have ventured there without my security blankets to order for me. My wife and friends are also picky eaters so I was concerned. We have all eaten meals from many countries. My friend in particular has eaten Indian food in India and the Far East often. Turned out there isn't anything that Kiran does badly. What a wonderful experience. It offers the taste of Indian food without over powering each dish and is just enough volume to satisfy the appetite. I would recommend this to anyone. Really an enjoyable experience."

  • "I like spicy vegetarian food which they cooked to my test and very well presented. I could not avoid over eating. My friends wanted mild Chicken and Lamb and they enjoyed too."

  • "My partner and I went to Kiran for Valentine's Day. The set menu was GREAT and all the food was tasty. We had a great evening overall. Some of the appreztizer were a little smaller than expected, but my partner loved the mushroom soup (she doesn't usually like mushrooms at all) when the server saw how much she liked the soup he gave her an additional serving which was very nice."

  • "Even though we had a reservation at 9:15pm we didn't get seated until 9:50pm. When we asked the hostess how long was the wait instead of giving us atleast an estimate, she gave us the ambiguous response of "not much longer." Our waiter was extremely slow and seemed to not be able to keep track of our dishes when they were brought out by the bus boys. We watched our orders being given to customers around us who sat 20-30 minutes after us. By 11:30pm we still had not be served our dessert course. Falling asleep at the table, we asked for it to be boxed so we could just leave. Really ruined our Valentine's day."

  • "This is a special restaurant. The mix of India flavors with unique ingredients makes for a delightful experience. Price is reflective of quality, however. Special occasion evenings can create some extended seating delays. Expect that and you will still have a great evening."

  • "My fiancee and I went to Kiran's for our valentine's day dinner. The place was packed, but the service was smooth and quick. We had an amazing 7 course meal. The food was some of the best we have every had. We are definitely coming back to experience the other options on the menu. This has easily become one our most favorite restaurants in town."

  • "My girlfriend and I have designated this place as our nice out to eat restaurant. We love the food and always order more than we can eat so we can eat the rest the following day. It's almost better the next day anyways...almost. We love eating here and always look forward to a night at Kiran's."

  • "Yes it was valentine's day, we had a reservation for 10pm, arrived 10pm, we could see a lot of people waiting and management never mentioned it was going to be one hour wait. Seated 11 pm, not a word, a courtesy drink or anything. I am a big fun of this restaurant but never again on special occasions."

  • "I took my wife here for our 1 year anniversary. We have always loved Indian Cuisine, so I thought Kiran's would be the perfect place to celebrate our marriage together. The food was amazing, and service was top notch. I honestly don't have one complaint. Everything was perfect. Even the valet had our car ready for us when we walked out the door. This restaurant is the best Indian dining experience in Houston, bar none."
