We arrived after a matinee at the ballet, and wanted something special, and Kinzie (as always) came through. Spectacular service - I swear it's hard to beat them in this category. Great steak selection, creative sides and risottos, and all perfectly prepared - and fabulous desserts (the Pistachio Semiffredo is amazing). Never as miss. I had the pork tenderloin which was very moist, well seasoned and quite a generous portion. My sister said her halibut was the best thing she had eaten during our three day trip to Chicago. My mother enjoyed her filet. The mushroom risotto was creamy and well seasoned and I could have made a meal out of the sauteed brussel sprouts! We ordered margaritas and vodka tonics - they were a little light on the alcohol, but when we mentioned this to our waiter, he promptly had new ones made. Meat was very tasty and well cooked. 3 of my friends ordered the 48oz porterhouse and I figured that it would take forever but they were surprising fast and it was already cut off bone and ready to serve which was nice. Our waiter was friendly and available, but not hovering,the menu good basic steakhouse and a nice wine list. It definitely lived up to all expectations! When I made the reservation online, it asks if there is anything I would like the restaurant to know about our visit. Since I was surprise my boyfriend of two years with a Chicago anniversary trip, I put in the restaurant notes that it was our anniversary. I honestly thought it didn't matter what I put in the notes, but after dinner, the server brought over a desert on the house. On the plate it red syrup, it read "Happy Anniversary." I thought it was the sweetest thing and it made my night. They are low on pretense, big on customer service, and, in comparison to both other classic Chicago steakhouses and newer hot spots in the restaurant scene, extremely well priced. Everything we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately I forgot our server's name, or I would totally plug him on here, because he was fantastic--helped us through the menu and customized our order no problem. The menu is reasonably priced unless you get a steak (which of course I did). There are a variety of sauces for the steaks, but in my opinion a $40 steak doesn't need its flavor diluted by sauces. Not only was the service excellent but the food was to die for! All of our steaks were cooked to perfection and the Blackened Scallops appetizer was outstanding! We had a 6 year old with us, and the waiter was appropriately attentive and tolerant of her request for more crayons. He described all the cuts of meat and suggested sauces to accompany them. Teenage daughter was sold when the waiter explained that the Kobe style Kinzie cut was unique to their restaurant. Husband settled on dry-aged delmonico. Both of them enjoyed their steaks very much. The stuffed potato was fabulous and so were the brussels sprouts. Desserts were reasonably-priced and delicious. The only reason that it was not perfect was the fish. Often, steak restaurants also have great seafood, but not here. The halibut was just ok. He was very accommodating of our requests and was supportive of our desire to share food (I went with my wife), offering sharing plates.
When my steak came out too well done (I asked more medium rare and it was far into the medium territory), our waiter immediately volunteered to wrap up the over-cooked steak to go and bring another. When the properly cooked steak came, the waiter also gave me some more wine, since we ordered a pairing for a set menu.

For my taste, it is the perfect combination of outstanding cuisine, coupled with atmosphere of casual, yet old-school elegance. Suit, business casual or even semi-casual, I never feel out of place. Same goes for the service. Whatever the occasion - business lunch, romantic dinner or boys night out - the staff always caters their service accordingly.
