When I ordered the beef brisket the waiter let out a slight groan. That was a warning sign because what he served was not brisket at all. A plate of bland, unseasoned pot roast on a bed of what tasted and looked like instant mashed potatoes - for $26 dollars. My wife tasted it and said it reminded her of bad 1960's school cafeteria food. That said, the pecan chocolate tortes we had for dessert were very good. We only dine at Kinley's armed with a Groupon to shield us from the high prices. For the same price better food is available at Glacier Brewhouse and Sacks Cafe.

Kinley's is one of my favorite "special occasion" restaurants. They have the best calamari in Anchorage and the bacon-wrapped dates are scrumptious! In addition to an extensive wine list, they also have a good selection of local brews on tap.

The food at Kinley's is always exceptional -- interesting, fresh, prepared to order. The waitstaff is concerned about the guests, and helpful in providing special service. The chocolate pecan torte is the best. It was throbbingly noisy because of a concert at Moose's Tooth, but we still were able to have a pleasant evening.

Enjoyed lunch with my mother-in-law. Great menu selections and wide variety. I am vegan and this menu accommodated me well. I had the Mediterranean Vegetable sandwich, sans the feta. MIL had lamb sliders and soup. All of it was great! Pleased we have this quality of choice in Anchorage.

  • Bad Manager

It was our waiter's first night, and he blew it. It took 45 minutes before our drinks arrived. We had to ask for them twice. Entrees came 20 minutes later, omitting the salads we had ordered. The waiter was trembling when he poured the wine; he knew everything was screwed up. But the worst part is that a hostess and another server acknowledged it was his first night, but they didn't jump in to help. They just let him fail, ruining our chance to have an enjoyable meal. The manager, or someone, should have jumped in to help. They might have coached him to offer us a dessert, or buy another round. The waiter was too rattled to think of this. We left unhappy, more at those who didn't help, than the waiter who tried.

Fairly decent restaurant. Had their appetizer and entree specials. Appetizer (Kobe slider) was just OK and seems to lack flavor. Couldn't bite through the bacon as it was very tough. Entree (white salmon) was very good and the highlight of the evening. Simply prepared with a nice selection and presentation of starches and veggies. Dessert was an absolute bust and couldn't eat but a few bites so stay away from the creme brule.

Our server was pleasant and friendly. The fish dishes were slightly undone as they should be and the fish was obviously very fresh. The appetizers were very big - too large for individual servings, but good for group grazing. The side vegetables etc on the entrees were just dumped on the plates with no attempt at making them neat and attractive. Nevertheless the food was very ample and tasty, if a bit slapdash.

We have dined here on many occasions and wanted to bring special company here. The appetizers were delicios as was the dessert. Our waiter was very attentive and fun. The support wait staff were outstanding! My disappointment, this time, came from an undercooked piece of King Salmon and over cooked roasted potatoes. This has never happened to us here. I can only assume it was a one time flaw.

Food always good, restaurant is comfortable and lively. This time, not a usual thing, our service was very slow and inattentive. The server left for long periods of time without checking on things, forgot to bring drinks and left empty glasses on the table, three of the four of us were without drinks for about 10 minutes. Not good for a business. Fortunately, we wherein good company and the food made up for the servers lack.

I hope it was just an off night for our Server, but it was the worst experience ever. Once she took our order she never checked back on us until 25 minutes had gone by. One of our friends had asked for Ketchup with his potatoes & she said "you're kidding. You don't have ketchup with potatoes." It was very uncomfortable for all at the table. She was so rude that we didn't order any more alcohol or desert from her. Doesn't matter if we even wanted to though because she never checked back on us again.

I was disappointed with my meal for the first time in many visits. It was far from the normal quality I have come to expect from this establishment which it is normally a very pleasant and memorable experience. I had ordered the rockfish and was truly was surprised with the disheveled appearance of the plate, the overcooked Kinley's version of hush puppies which were virtually inedible; hard and cold. Our meals were delivered by someone other than our waiter who took our order and did not see him again until he delivered our bill.

We have been to Kinley's a number if times because we know that the food is consistently good and the service has always been top notch. This visit was much different, our food was ether undercooked or over cooked, and poorly executed, and this could have been fixed if our server was to have checked back with us after we got our food. We didn't see her for 15 min after, except for when she dropped off a drink refill but didn't even make eye contact or stopped to ask anything.Poor attitude, I could see her roll her eyes as she walked away, after I told her that my scallops were burned. The best part was when I told her we were using a groupon, and she smiled and said, of course you are. What! We're crossing this restaurant off of our list.

Save your $ Review of Kinley's Anchorage. The acoustics of the dining area are horrible for holding a civilized conversation. My wife & I had to speak at elevated levels to hear; it reminded me of being at a college dive bar. At first, service was ok. Our waiter Pav came and asked if we'd like drinks. I ordered a beer. At the time of our dinner arriving, my beer glass was empty. Pav did not recognize this and did not ask if another was wanted. During our dinner he came once and asked how we were doing, but after this, he did not come around until the end of our meal. We saw him go over to another table with younger women at least 10 times. Our H20 glasses were empty for a while and food was so-so. Not worth the $.

Dinner for 5 included five different entrees and all were very good to excellent with good pairings of meat and side dishes. Service was excellent during the meal with refills and responses from wait staff and busboys. The dessert menu was so tempting that we tried four different desserts. Incredible! My favorite was the triple chocolate cheesecake but the honey lavender ice cream was both subtle and sensational.

We have been going to Kinley's for several years now. There food has always been outstanding and the service up and down. This dinner was absolutely outstranding. The food was WOW. Bacon wraped dates, and oysters au gratin for apps were unbelievable. Followed by a caprese salad then almond crusted halibut and pan seared scallops. We topped the evening off with a Mocha Bourbon Pecan Torte and the Graham's port flight - Probably the best deal in town!

Went to Kinley's for the first time with friends who had never been there either. Welcome was very pleasant, however it took a while for our server to show, but he was very nice but his assistant waiter's BO was almost unbearable everytime he came to refill water etc. The appetizers were great and we thought we're off to a great start! Wrong!! Once the main entree showed things went downhill from there. My filet migon was cooked to the consistency of shoe leather(ordered medium), my friends scallops were still frozen in the middle, my wife's french onion soup was burned(not the cheese but the broth) the manager tried to fix things but to no avail, and to make it worse, we ended up paying the whole bill.

Kinley's always does well with the food - bread is delicious, ditto coffee -- two basics on which every restaurant should score well. Our food was tasty, well-prepared, and the right temperature. The chocolate torte is always worth saving soom for. This particular evening (but not typically) the server was pleasant, but service was exceptionally slow, even after we said a couple of different times that we wanted to leave soon. Overall, well above average, but not every diner wants a 2 1/2 hour meal on a weekday evening. We had other plans that we ended up having to cancel because of the delays.

Bad service. Food quality poor. Refused to give us a booth even though restaurant was nearly empty and I had a reservation; when we turned to leave a booth miraculously became available. Waited 20 minutes to place order then almost an hour for food. Sent steak back; small and overcooked. Potatoes had been siting in steam table and were cold. Never again.
