Diner Reviews
  • "The first time we ate here was excellent, this time, not very good. I ordered the filet and it was so salty that I couldn't eat it. Our server said that was not the first complaint about saltiness (I truly appreciated his honesty), and he had it recooked. It was brought back charred and completely overdine. Disappointing."

  • "The staff was very friendly and the food was terrific. We went on a Monday night, so it wasn't too crowded. There was a mix of different people, so it felt very comfortable. Prices are typical for the area's upscale restaurant scene and the servings are enough to share or take home leftovers (if your eating habits are normal). We would definitely return to try other items on the menu."

  • "We arrived for an 8:30 reservation, so the place was quieting down, which was nice. I had a fantastic vegan meal and my husband had a huge steak. Vegan meals are generally an afterthought for a chef. Not here. The quinoa-stuffed butternut squash was topped with a veggie-stuffed toasted avocado. Flavors that I never imagined mingled together perfectly. My husband's NY steak was tender and done exactly as requested. Desserts were also very creative and the height of decadence. I highly recommend dining at Kinley's and am looking forward to returning soon."

  • "I enjoyed our trip to Kinley's. Great waiter; he had good attention to detail. When he noticed chicken had not been added to 2 meals, he took them back to have it added and was back within minutes. He also made sure to be check in with us periodically to fill our tea. The only room for improvement I would suggest is that the waiter not wait as long as he did to complete the transaction (charge the credit card). We were on a time schedule."

  • "Typical for Kinley's the food was fabulous and the server did a great job. The ahi tuna tacos were delish and my halibut entree was cooked perfectly. I tried my boyfriends rockfish and it had a savoury teriyaki sauce that was so yummy I was jealous. We had a groupon but honestly I would go to Kinley's even if I didn't have one. They are that good."

  • "Everything was going well and the lady serving us took my kidding around well which I liked. They did not bring the correct salad for me but brought hers just fine. It took a while to get the waitress again and to order my salad and it really messed up our conversation for our first and overdue date. . for the amount of money I spent it slightly ruined this first meeting after long weeks of online persuasion and I was hoping for perfection. She had a great time, she says so I guess it was ok but irritating. Also, I don't know what your protocol is on the food but she had to ask for butter and for vinegar to mix with the oil or eat dry bread."

  • "Waiter is so polite and sweet. Actually everyone there is. The French onion soup is outstanding. My daughter had the turkey sandwich and raved about it. It really is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal!"

  • "Had a great time... Food was a little weird but had great taste. Service was awesome servers and bus boy work great together you can tell its a great team. Desert was amazing blue berry cheese cake was to die for."

  • "Was more than a bit disappointed after high expectations. Perhaps I just had bad luck with what I ordered. First, the $12 glass of wine I got tasted like it came out of as box. The Caesar salad was much like the one's sold as a side at Papa Murphy's (very mayonnaise-y dressing). The scallops themselves were good, but the sauce and falafel were too spicy for the delicacy of the shellfish. Also, the oatmeal raisin creme brulliet tasted flat. I hope this was just a case of bad luck with ordering because the restaurant itself a first rate venue, with beautiful ambience and views and excellent service."

  • "The food was good: the White Salad was excellent, the Pork chops nicely done (the fig and quinoa accompaniment was excellent), the Duck very nice, and the Tropical Tour dessert delightful! The service was attentive and very good. The place had quite a few people there, happily dining in a range of modes: romantic couples, pairs, small groups, and a group of 8. Around town, Kinley's has a mixed reputation. Sometimes it's great, other times it seems quite poor. The reviews suggest this, and my wife had a quite poor meal here some time back, but a good one more recently. A friend suggested that Kinley's has a fairly high mean (average), but a very large standard deviation (variation) in performance/quality. You take a chance. Good luck!"

  • "Over priced for Anchorage. Enjoyed atmosphere and service. Won't return due to lots of great places in town at better cost with the same or better quality."

  • "The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful with menu choices. The food was served at excellent intervals, time for spending quality time with my husband. Food was excellent. Dessert was to die for. Can't wait to go back."

  • "This was our last meal in Anchorage before flying back to Chicago and we wanted to find something that would be a nice end to a fantastic trip. Kinley's didn't disappoint. We ended up going all out and everything was fantastic! I highly recommend this place. No matter what you get it will be good."

  • "We have been to kinley's twice before. We had ugh hope there would be a chef or food change. My dish was sent back due to complete over cooking of my scallops. The dishes are beautiful looking but the pairings are disjointed. Wine was fantastic, service fantastic. Seating highly uncomfortable. The amount of space between ourselves and the table in the booth was way too large we could not relax. Sat on the edge of our seats hunched over for most of it. My second try on the another dish, halibut was good, not amazing but good everything else on the dish was undercooked. Service again impeccable they need to figure out the food:("

  • "Our dinner last Saturday at Kinley's was excellent, as always. Service was prompt and attentive. The short ribs that 2 of our party of 3 ordered where tasty and tender - a good trick for short ribs! The calamari steak appetizer could be an entree; it is a huge amount of calamari which is NOT (Thankfully) deep fried! the only exception to our complete enjoyment of the evening was that, arriving 6 minutes early for our 5 p.m. reservation, we found ourselves locked out on the porch. A 5:30 reservation would have been prevented this slightly inhospitable arrival."

  • "Took my girlfriend to dinner. When we first arrived it was nice and peaceful, perfect place to have a nice dinner. Then came the problems. First there was a crying baby that was really loud, so trying to talk to my date was hard. Second for some reason they dimmed the lights. It was already dark when we first sat down. Even though my girlfriend was right in front of me she was hard to see. On the positive side I can say is the chicken and waffle was really good, and the waitress was really nice."

  • "Had a Friday 5:30 seating; service was excellent and professional. Menu items range from steaks, seafood, and vegetarian, with unique twists. Both meals were cooked to perfection, including the accompanying dishes. Pricey, but generous portions and good ingredients. Excellent wine list, and inventive dessert menu. Try to get a booth: the tables are a little "cafe" looking and there are quite a few of them in the open floor sections, so they are not the most romantic. Maybe if they removed a couple of the tables, or separated them with decor items (plants, screens), or even used white tablecloths..."

  • "We ordered our appetizers, food, and drinks right away. The appetizers came out on time and were very good. The dinners took an additional hour. Our waiter did not apologize for the delay, but simply dropped off the food and never came back to ask us how it was. Which makes sense, because he was probably aware of how burnt our food was. The seafood had obviously been sitting for a long time under a heat lamp, and the fried ball of "mush" that came with it was visibly burnt. The "waffle" that we ordered was burnt so bad that it was difficult to cut it with a knife. The burnt side, however, was conveniently hidden on the bottom. It was very obvious that the kitchen and waiter were aware of the food, yet it was served anyway."

  • "The food was excellent. I got the lamb shank and my fiancee got the duck. We shared the beef cheek and lobster ravioli appetizers and the dessert, red velvet cheesecake. All of the food was very good. The service was excellent and speedy. The setting was a little wierd because it was extremely loud. It would be nice if there were some partitions but other than that it is not really a place for a romantic dinner but if youre going out to get good food this is the place. I dont feel this is a kid freindly place the food is a little older than chicken fingers and burgers."

  • "My party of eight couldn't have chosen a more enjoyable environment then the bar section of Kinley's restaurant on Valentine's Day for dinner. The five course meal was as much a social experience as it was a celebration for the pallet. I especially liked the swordfish which was moist and delicate to the taste. The stake was prepared exactly how my wife loves it. Your personal attention, your excellent hospitality and for your top shelf cuisine made for a fun and tasty experience."

  • "I reserved a table for 15 a week in advance on the Opentable website, so as you can imagine I believed I would get a table at 8:30 pm like I had specified on the reservation. We ended up having to wait an extra 30 minutes because the party that was before us hadn't left yet, and after I let one of the hostesses know that our party would be more like 10-12 people, they seated us in a different area. However, the hostess was quite snappy with us, as if we were inconveniencing her, and we received the same response from our waitress the entire night. Despite the food being very good, I'm disappointed in how my party was treated, considering this was a dinner in celebration of my birthday and we were very patient with the delayed service."

  • "My girlfriend and I really enjoyed spending valentines day dinner at Kinleys. The food was fantastic, and the service was timely and courteous. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "The service was the best part of the experience. Josh (our waiter) and the other members of the staff took very good care of us. The food on the other hand was overpriced and tasted like it came out of a bag / box. We started the dinner with caprese salads (tomatoes & mozzarella cheese), which was fine - the accompany field greens however tasted like dirt. My wife's filet mignon was cooked just the way she wanted it - warm red center - but it came out over spiced and chewy. Conversely, the roasted potatoes had no flavor and they were mushy - a little bit of salt coming out of the kitchen would have been appreciated. The restaurant's environment was less then inviting; looked like someone converted a gas station. Not going back."

  • "Kinley's always seems to impress with their creative concoctions. The food was delicious, inspiring, and unique. The wine was enjoyable. Service was good, and the staff are well versed in the menu. This is a great place to bring visiting friends and family, as it is a very lovely environment with upscale entrees, while feeling comfortable enough to arrive directly after casual hiking or enjoying the scenes of Anchorage or before catching a show at the PAC. The menu is a great fusion of Alaska's best with Asian and 'slow food' influence."

  • "Delicious food with some new selections on the menu since our previous visit. Excellent service; we were quote pleased with the recommendations from our server for both food and wine options. Enjoyable atmosphere although a bit loud as the restaurant got more crowded."

  • "Varied menu with something for everyone and even for those on budget. Large selection of wines and beers from around the world. Versatile seating with bar, booths and tables in a warm, intimate setting as if you're in a friends living room then a larger area with booths and tables well suited for groups. Though almost all patrons are adults, I'm struck by their welcoming attitude to my family with 12 year old. Server assistant was alerted by hostess, without my knowledge, that a child is expected and he brought a covered paper cup with straw. Great customer service. I mentioned child is 12 and he asked if she would like a regular glass and quickly brought one."
