A word from King's Highway
King's Highway is a renewed take on the tradition of American peasant food with a desert flavor focused on fresh, artisanal ingredients. We use local and organic fruits and vegetables and sustainably-raised meats whenever we can. Our Amigo Room bar serves classic and creative artisanal cocktails using fresh seasonal juices, hand-picked herbs we grow in our garden, a wide selection of craft beers with an emphasis on local, and a friendly list of great wines in a cool, cavernous space left pretty much the way we found it. There's something going on there almost every night, bringing together a vibrant mix of guests and locals to check out awesome DJs, live bands, comedians and performance artists from the desert, LA and everywhere else. acehotel.com/palmsprings/calendar

I've always liked this restaurant for its atmosphere, service and food. I think, however, the latter may be slipping a bit. Portions seem to be getting smaller while prices seem to be getting larger. My burger was on the small side and not particularly flavorful; not what I would have hoped for at $13.

Our dining experience was excellent. We had a brilliant waitress, happy to interact the right amount and make suggestions. The food was great: the hummus plate and the potted pig to start. All very tasty. We both ordered steak and fries, the only complaint here is that the "plate" is 1/4 steak and 3/4 fries, not so much a comment on the steak size - which was adequate, but more about the fries. A small pot of fries, keeping the plate simpler, more balanced would have been better. The only issue we had was alcohol, the cocktails we ordered on recommendation were god awful. Trying too hard to be hip and definitely missing the mark on taste. I could finish mine. My husband then ordered a tap beer, it tasted like soap, it was dire.

The constantly changing inexperienced staff diminishes what should be a very decent dining experience. Great location, terrific food, creative menu, nice music (they even have a hostess that will break out into a Broadway song), but it totally misses the mark with a generally lousy, inexperienced staff.

It was great. Neat options. Cool room. Friendly service… Only a couple of "buts." The French fries could've used another 45 secs. in the fryer-rather limp. The parmesan hash browns were either woefully under-parmesaned or just didn't have any. And-the only other gripe was with our Bloody Mary's-which were delicious. However, we ordered one that was supposed to come w/fried okra and an anchovy-stuff olive-neither of which it had, which wouldn't have mattered too much if it weren't the most expensive Bloody on the menu and the accompaniments were why we chose it over other options. We were disappointed. My Cubano was great. My friend's chilaquiles was yummy. The pastries ALWAYS look really good. Need to pop in and indulge some time.

The menu didn't seem to have anything particularly exciting or special, but my husband and I were very impressed after having brunch/lunch there. We ordered the Chilaquiles, Rucola Salad, Fried Avocado and side of Parmesean Hashbrowns. All very satisfying and tasty...the Chilaquiles were not your typical greasy chilaquiles (these had very fluffy eggs and minimal grease)...the rucola salad had fried garlic that was scrumptious...the fried avocado (well, it's fried, and it's avocado, so super yum) did have a tasty/tangy aioli and pickeled onions that complimented the dish well...the parmesean hasbrowns coulda used more seasoning but had great texture!

Have to give this place a '2' overall. If you go for breakfast, then maybe a '3', but for dinner this is a bust. The pasta carbonara was the worst ever. Over cooked pasta, with a heavy cream sauce and little flavor. My date had scrambled eggs and hash browns that looked much better than the pasta. Service was performed by the motley crew - no dress code, no energy and more fitting for a fast food joint. There are so many better places for a meal in Palm Springs.

King's Highway is back from the road so you wouldn't immediately see it, but it's worth the look. Fun decor, casual and warm. Food was superior. Lamb chop one of the best. Great use of fresh, local ingredients. Had a beer I couldn't find anywhere else in Calif. Loved it! Highly recommend.

This restaurant is a converted Denny's location that has been made retro chic and is part of the Ace Hotel experience. All the "bones" of the old Denny's are still there, but the mood is now youthful and the bar is funky and fun. Very casual...hotel guests in bathing suits passed through the bar while great music played and drinks flowed freely. The restaurant filled slowly with a great crowd of people...no signs of crazed, tense, posers "questing" so be seen and heard. The food is shockingly good...amazingly fresh, creative, and flavorful...far beyond what you would expect from such a casual place. A real find. Service was excellent. No pretense, no artifice...just artistry and fun. Can not recommend this place enough!

We came in with a group of 6, and ended up sitting at the big 'picnic' table - and loved it! The decor, like the food, is a classy execution of the seemingly mundane. Most of us ordered off the special Restaurant Week prix fixe menu, and everything was delicious (fried avocado and halibut cheeks, mmmm). Full bar is also excellent, serving both classics and originals in the bar or the dining room.

Food was decent, went there more for the fact that it was next to Ace Hotel, which draws a younger, hipper crowd in PS. It was actually restaurant week when I went. - Fried avocado was interesting and tasty, but nothing spectacular - Halibut cheeks were the best dish, cooked very well and had a great texture - Pork chops were so-so, had a smokiness to it but not that tender - Key lime pie was too sweet

Service was fair; everyone was pleasant but not really attentive. The food was extremely disappointing. The appetizer was good and that’s where it ended. My entrée was prepared hours earlier and wasn’t warm when it came to the table. My spouse’s entrée was overcooked and the sauce had separated. The expediter should have realized it wasn’t appropriate to serve, much less leave the kitchen. Thinking anyone could manage a plate of fries, we ordered a side. They were completely raw and cold. After we complained, the manager didn’t bother to stop by and apologize. I rarely put a restaurant on the “I’ll never go again” list after one visit but King’s Highway managed to get there. I live in Palm Springs and will warn everyone I can.

We found the service to be just as slow & uncaring as other patrons. After a very warm greeting & seating by the hostess it took 10 minutes for our server to come to our table. Surprisingly our food, hot & cooked to order was served in less than 10 minutes. Our server then joined a group of employees behind the counter. Six of them chatted while we waited for drink refills. The fried chicken was above average. The hamburger was more rare than medium rare as I ordered, but it had absolutely no taste. None! So stick with the fried chicken if you must eat here. And if the manager reads this & other reviews - get a handle on your very unmotivated servers. But keep the tall hostess, she's the only one who evinced any friendliness.

We have visited this restaurant a few times before and this time was a real disappointment. We were a party of 6 and they refused to do separate checks for the 3 couples. 18% gratuity was added to the bill (calculated to include the tax in the total). Service was casual and second rate. The food was good but average and the value was not there. We won't be rushing back.

Completely uninterested servers with a "couldn't-be-bothered with you" attitude make dining at this hipster joint not so hip...just annoying. The food is alright, but uninspired. The only saving grace is that prices are quite fair for very expensive Palm Springs. Don't expect much except sloppy servers and sloppy sandwiches.

We've been wanting to try this place - a converted Denny's attached to the uber-hip Ace Hotel in Palm Springs - for some time now, and it generally lives up to its billing. The menu is sort of a modern take on traditional roadside diner offerings with a number of favorites you will recognize, slightly updated for today's tastes. Service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was subdued. We were there on a Friday night, so I was a bit surprised that the place wasn't really hopping; it is high season in the Desert after all. But it was also early and the adjacent bar (where you can get full menu service, BTW) seemed to be well on its way to having a successful evening when we left. We will be back to try breakfast soon.

We enjoyed it. Our main waiter was ok and we didn't see him much, however there was another guy helping us who was a food runner or something that made up for whatever the main server was lacking. They were good about refilling our water which was cool. The food was tasty but perhaps my expectations were too high because the restaurant came highly recommended. The interior design is a high point, the food is good... King's Highway is solid but fell short of great for our group last night. Prices seem appropriate. We may go again.

Nice place. Stopped while out for a ride for a big sunday meal. We ordered the soup of the day (bean and andouille), BBQ pork sloppy joe, date shake, and bloody mary. Bloody was spicy, light pour & with limited goodies considering the price. Date shake was tasty, the ice cream they use is excellent, but for the price Sheilds in Indio, even with their supersweet take on shakes, is a better buy. The BBQ Joe lived up to its name, it was a mess! The promised onion rings turned out to be one ring lost in the sea of pork. The roll was light and fluffy but the sauce was too sweet heavy goopy, I would have liked more savory. The soub was also very hardy, almost baked bean consistancy but the andouille was more like hot dog than a real sausage.

We were pleased with our supper at the King's Highway in Palm Springs. We had seen a number of negative reviews on Trip Advisor, and were a bit wary. The negative reviews said that it was trying too hard to be hip, that the staff were too busy being hip to serve anyone properly, food overpriced, portions small. We did not experience any of these things whatsoever. Wait staff did their job well, food was good (mostly diner/comfort type food), prices seemed reasonable. We would go again. The decor is trying to be hip (I am way past my 20's), but we liked it. Servers seemed like normal people to me.

This place is unique in Palm Springs. Built in an old Howard Johnson's, but beautifully updated - the atmosphere is lively, modern, and comfortable at any time. Crowd is usually younger (for PSP), mostly 20 - 50 something. Food is GREAT. Fresh, wonderful ingredients - menu is a blend of American or Mexican favorites with a delightful twist. Whenever we head to Palm Springs, whether we are staying at the adjoining Ace Hotel or not, we always stop at the Kings Highway diner/restaurant. The food is very good and a little more elevated than your typical joint - a grilled cheese isn't just one cheese, but three-four "stinky" cheeses with a side of pickled veggies. The chilled tomato soup was also amazing - and a huge amount! It's not a cup size, but a full meal. The service staff is friendly and laid back, which can translate to a little bit slow, but if you know that going in, you won't freak out. Don't expect super fast service, but very good and attentive service. I would definitely come back here.

Always a fun, casual restaurant with a varied menu and very good people watching. Generally, a younger crowd that stays at the adjacent Ace Hotel. If Linda is the hostess when you are there, ask her for a song. She will turn down the music, ring her bell and belt out an oldy to everyone in the restaurant.
