A word from King's Arm Tavern
After Jane Vobe opened the King’s Arms Tavern in 1772, it became one of the town’s most genteel establishments. She once described it as a place “where the best people resorted.” Today, the tavern remains true to her words. From the finest furnishings to the most gracious service, the King’s Arms Tavern offers musical entertainment in an elegant environment.

Enter the rustic reproduction tavern and be greeted by a server dressed in the fashion of the 18th century. Hear “the news of the day” from a citizen of Williamsburg. Choose from a chophouse menu, featuring prime rib, pork chops, and roasted lamb.

While our meal and the service were very nice, we were less than pleased with our table. We chose King's Arm Tavern to experience Colonial Williamsburg dining but were relegated outside, walked around the Tavern, through a courtyard, to what we were told was the "summer kitchen." It was a small room that was already occupied by a party of five women who clearly had enjoyed their private dining experience. Our corner dining was not to be the ambiance we would have surely had in the Tavern proper. My advice is to refuse to take a walk outside to your table and request to wait for one in the Tavern. Again, the food and service were great.

The King's Arm Tavern provides a great 18th century experience. From the costumes of the servers to the balladeer who sings at each table to the food based on the period, everything was wonderful! The Arm's Seafood Macaroni, which had large shrimp, plump scallops and nice chunks of salmon over a bed of angel hair pasta. The sauce was tasty, but did not overpower the seafood. The vegetables were fresh and crisp - not overcooked. The Thomas Jefferson's Brandy-spiked Bread Pudding was delicious. No raisins made it even better! The sauce was creamy and the bread pudding was not soggy. I would definitely return!

Upon arrival we were greeted kindly and seated immediately. Our server, Billie, was knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful description of the menu and its highlights. Our party had both the classic peanut soup as well as the creamy mushroom onion soup. I couldn't decide which was better. My Mother-in-law had the game pie. It was piping hot and packed full of flavor. My Father-in-law and I both had the pork which was tender and tasty. My husband had the seafood which came with the sauce on the side so you could have as much or as little as you like...delish. We finished with bread pudding--covered in a sumptuous vanilla sauce. Billie was an absolute delight the entire evening making our overall experience a true delight.

Every time I visit Williamsburg I enjoy an evening meal. It's great fun to eat in a Colonial atmosphere with a little history imparted each time. The peanut soup is divine. The only complaints are that I could not drink one drink and sent it back. It would have been nice if it had been removed from bill. The other thing is they didn't serve hot buttered rum. :((. A definite must eat place.

Tavern was beautiful and elegant. We were shown to a table for 4 that was in a little nook which made for a cozy dining experience. Our server was super sweet and efficient. She related the fork lore surrounding the dishess we ordered. Food was excellent and we had a wonderful dining experience.

This is an actual Colonial era Tavern and is great for special occasions. Too pricey for everyday. All the staff are in costume from the period and the menu actually includes deer, rabbit and duck. Totally candle lit with strolling minstrels playing and singing.

Starting from the moment that you walk in the door, you are whisked back to the 18th century. The staff invites you to enjoy your evening. Music from the era fills the air as you look at the menu. The server is very informative as they explain the etiquette of the time. The drinks are nothing more than fantastic and before you know it your meal is in front of you and it is cooked to perfection. I Had the Prime Rib and my friend had the "special", Rockfish topped with Crabmeat. They both were fantastic!! The meal was topped off with desert. I had Bread Pudding and my friend had Pecan Pie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Both again were amazing. Just a tremendous eating experience. I would recommend The King's Arm to everyone.

We had not been to the King's Arms in many years and looked forward to dinner for my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, the overall value was so unexpectedly poor that it detracted from the positives. The ambiance is old-world lovely. Drinks were very good. Peanut soup is fabulous. It was the main courses that were disappointing and just not worth the high pricing. We had the chicken breast, the venison "pot pye" and the steak tips. The latter included maybe 3-4 pieces of beef for $35. Chicken presentation was slapped on the plate, and $30+ for just a pot pie! All 3 meals were disappointing. Desserts were scrumptious. But we spent $190 for 3 people, and it just wasn't worth it. The other Taverns have better food and better value.

Kings Arm Tavern is a fun and enjoyable experience. The restaurant portrays colonial times in Williamsburg, VA with customary dress, food, and entertainment. The food is very nicely prepared and often unique. Entertainment is fun, foot stomping style. Service is attentive, but not pushy. I highly recommend dining here if in the area.

Since my girlfriend had never been to Colonial Williamsburg before, I made a reservation for the atmosphere and because they have a reputation for good food. We were very disappointed with the food. My girlfriend ordered the "sea food macaroni". It came as seafood in a cream sauce over angel hair pasta (I guess it technically is macaroni) she was disappointed with the presentation and the seafood was way over cooked. They were very gracious and took it off the check. I had a safe prime rib. Asked for Medium rare and got medium well. The potatoes were tasteless as well as the Yorkshire pudding. The place is beautiful, the service attentive and the entertainment very good. I should have known better than to expect great food also.

If you like history and colonial ambiance, this is the place for you. The food is interesting, not gourmet, but that is not really the point. The point is getting a taste of what it might of been like to dine in a tavern in colonial times. You learn about relish, linens, and eating utensils. A fiddler stopped by to sing us a tune and the staff was friendly and full of facts. The meat pye filled with rabbit, duck, and venison was good as was the nut brown ale. The pye is large so bring a healthy appetite. It is also on the sweet side and not heavily spiced.

We had dinner here while enjoying Colonial Williamsburg. The prices are very high for the quality of food, you are basically paying for the Tavern experience which is something to try at least once. The ambience and live music are great, especially for kids. The service was excellent, they move you in/out pretty quickly and I applaud them for servicing so well in such constrained areas. The drinks were delicious and unique, one of the highlights of the evening.

A visit to the King's Arms Tavern is special because you are taken back to colonial times and learn about the food and music of that era. We had a very good dinner at King's Arm. The waiter was very informative. He gave us bits of information during the meal about the time period. Of all the colonial dining we did during our visit to colonial williamsburg, King's Arm had the best musical experience. Instead of just walking around and serenading the patrons, we were encouraged to sing-a-long. It was a nice touch. And of course, the food was very good.
