  • "The BEST in Tucson!!! Chef Fred and everyone on the staff ROCK!! Thanks everyone! :-)"

  • "Kingfisher never disappoints. There are always wonderful dishes on the menu but the specials are usually what they are supposed to be, "special." I am excited to see what the chef comes up with for this summer's Road Trips, always a good reason to return to Kingfisher."

  • "Outstanding seafood restaurant with excellent service and varied menu."

  • "Service was fair. Cesar salad was lifeless....thrown together. Mussels incredibly sandy.....mostly inedible. Fresh oysters were very good. Fish and Chips........NOT edible! Entrees were removed from the bill without our asking. Having eaten at Kingfisher on other occasions....this visit did not enhance our anniversary celebration. All restaurants have bad nights. The kitchen should not have allowed much of our meal to leave the kitchen. We will give the Kingfisher another chance."

  • "Shared a marvelous anniversary with my spouse at this favorite Tucson location. Quiet table with prompt, well informed service. We both had daily fish specials, mine a perfectly cooked swordfish that was fresh, succulent and not overdone. My spouse had the trout that was every bit as good. This place can really prepare fish just right, not under nor overcooked that frequently makes fish dishes less than perfect. The accompaniments were every bit as matched and tasty. Mine was a well flavored couscous with dried tomatoes. Hers, a light linguine. Both dishes were well presented, and promptly served. This unpretentious, but warm and inviting establishment made us feel welcome, and the food made an important event for us even more memorable."

  • "This restaurant consistently serves great food and the service is always good. We enjoy the servers, who have such different personalities and all are focused on the customer."

  • "Have eaten here several times, have never been disappointed."

  • "Come here about once or twice per year. Quality of food and service are always excellent."

  • "Great food and service. The ambiance was just OK as was the neighborhood. We would go back though."

  • "Always a good sign that the parking lot was nearly full. Never been to Kingfisher but in we go. The ambiance is a little dated, but who cares. The service from Haley and the salmon was wonderful. The salmon with the combo of brocolini and mushroom risotto was brilliant. Who would have thought it? The oysters Rockefeller were good but slightly over done. Not a big deal. We would definitely go back next time in Tucson."

  • "The food is unique and we always get great service."

  • "We have eaten at Kingfisher a number a number of times over the last 7 or 8 years and always found the food to be above average, but not extraordinary. This changed with our most recent experience at Kingfisher. The menu has changed, and the new offerings, with their sauces and sides, have become extraordinarily flavorful."

  • "Another great visit! My wife currently has significant diet restrictions and chef accommodated her every request. As usual I ordered one of the specials for the evening, the Artic Char and again was not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoy going to Kingfisher, the service is always above reproach and the food simply wonderful. This evening we were privileged to have had one of the owners and chef deliver our meals. How nice!"

  • "I have generally had good experiences with the Kingfisher, but this time I ordered the swordfish and was very disappointed. It had absolutely no flavor."

  • "The food at Kingfisher is always good whether you get the seafood or meat dishes. The trout is well prepared and tasty. The sea bass is also good but the portion is a bit small. The baby back ribs and lamb shank help fill the niche for folks with larger appetites. One consistent problem with Kingfisher is that the restaurant seems dark. The waiter we had on our last visit reminded us Peter Sellers pretending to be a waiter. The guy was had virtually no warmth, people skills, or timing as a waiter. I had to finally go ask the manager if we could please order...the the guy would just disappear again. Prices are what you would expect for well prepared seafood. For a somewhat more festive atmosphere, visit their sister restaurant Blue Fin."

  • "My husband & I spend winter in Tucson and this is our favorite restaurant. It has delicious food, a great comfortable atmosphere and excellent service (great bartender too). Last Friday night we brought my nephew and his wife, visiting from back home in Chicago, and couldn't have had a more delicious dinner. The oysters were the best I've ever had. We had two of the specials, the special Hawaiian fish and my husband's standard favorite salmon. All were delicious. The service was great and the whole evening was comfortable and fun. We love Kingfisher."

  • "As always the Kingfisher served as a delicious meal. Celebrating our friend's birthday with other friends perfect setting, and ambience."

  • "We had an excellent dinner-Arctic char--and turned away several other tempting seafood dishes. A lovely evening."

  • "We enjoyed dining here. After non-stop Mexican food, this is a nice change of pace."

  • "GREAT MARDI GRAS Service was stellar, food was excellent. Some dishes were over priced "fish and chips". Although their salmon dish was to die for, and would come back to try, their rack of lamb."

  • "We have enjoyed eating at King Fisher a few times and every time the service and meals are perfect. We really like the starters.. Steamed clams (the broth didn't leave the table till finished) and the ceviche was just mouth watering. We dined on The Red Fish special of the night and Salmon both very moist and tasty. We all like the fried spinach and risotto."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised. Everything was excellent. I had a manhattan and fish and chips. My wife had the same., Next time we'll try one of the specials. I suggest reservervations."

  • "The wait staff are fabulous! The chef was willing to make changes in our meal - from fried cod to baked. We really appreciated that."

  • "Tool my wife there on valentines day. Great service all the way around. Great fish dishes. Want to go back and try everything."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "My wife and I went here for Valentine's day and enjoyed it as much as we expected (this is actually our second year in a row). I had made a reservation, and we were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was polite and relaxed, but seemed a bit tired behind his smile (which I wouldn't fault him for, on Valentine's day). My wife's Hawaiian Fish was very tasty, although I remember it being more exceptional last year. The Lenguado, which I had for the first time, was excellent. The restaurant has a classy-but-comfortable feel to it; it manages to feel refined without being stuffy. Overall, I'd say Kingfisher is one of the best restaurant values in Tucson -- delicious food, great ambiance, and reasonably priced."

  • "We had been to Kingfisher other times and had always enjoyed the fish dinners...hence we decided to go back for Valentines evening. We had a table of 4 and all ordered the fish dish..3 macadamia 1 sea bass. 2 of the orders were over cooked....dry..1 macadamia 1 sea bass. The time elapsed from order to the table was very quick which leads me to the notion that the fish may have been pre cooked to a point and then kept warm. It was Valentines and the place was full."

  • "Took my wife to Kingfisher for Valentine lunch. Found waitstaff and food to both be outstanding. Highly recommend."

  • "Took the Wife for Valentines Day. The Rest. Mgr/Host called me days before to advise that my early res wouldn't be the special dinner menu. He then moved my res. up to the dinner menu. That was a very nice touch. The dinner menu was typical deceptive terms. However, the waiter put things in much simpler terms. I ordered the halibut (Hawaiian fancy blah). My wife ordered off menu - not the surf & turf - but, all surf, scallops. They were both excellent. Too few vegetables, but all restaurants do this. We went to the bar afterwards to watch the UA/ASU game, but couldn't because there were diners in there. Can't really fault the Rest. for this, it is a fancy place after all. We used to like the AZ Inn. Now we like this place."

  • "Everyone just happened to order grilled salmon with sauteed spinach. Fabulous! The warm cabbage and bacon salad is also excellent. If you love contemporary art, great drinks and food then go to Kingfisher. It is the unofficial art hangout for Tucson's artists, writers and photographers."

  • "It was a bit noisy when we arrived at 6:45, but later much better. I had one of the best meals I have ever had - the lamb shanks. Thank you!"
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "We enjoyed the meal, but their were a few glitches. We are pretty forgiving, so we have fairly high threshold before we start pointing out flaws to a restaurant. Three items were just below our "point it out" threshold. 1) The salad had a house-made crostini that looked a little too toasted, but more importantly it imparted a slight burnt taste to the salad. 2) Similarly, our lobster roll was toasted a little too long and was overly dark on the edges of the bun. It imparted a discernible but not overwhelming burnt flavor. 3) Our fried squid appetizer was a little too salted - and we aren't that salt specific. Aside from these issues our meal was enjoyable, unfortunately the food that could have been great, was just good."

  • "We returned after trying the Kingfisher a year ago. We actually live in Phoenix. It is absolutely the best seafood in Phoenix. The snapper encrusted in macadamia nuts was exceptional. It doesn't look like an upscale restaurant from the outside…. but it is! The prices are very reasonable, so eating there won't break the bank. A must when your in Tucson!"

  • "This place is stuck in the 70's. The décor has not been touched in 40 years. I was shocked when I walked in. Although the people were friendly, the food was below average. I had the Lobster roll, which was terrible. My wife has the fish & chips. The fish was good. Luckily, she had some left over that I got to eat. No way would I ever go back or recommend it to a friend."

  • "We have been coming to Kingfisher for a decade or more. The place has an old-school vibe that we dig. That said, our last visit was less than stellar. We were seated promptly. Specials recited, drinks ordered. 20 minutes later, drinks arrived. 20 more minutes, orders were taken. One hour after being seated, bread was delivered. Admittedly, this was Friday at peak dinner hour, but 1 hour is excessive! As usual, food was tasty & well-prepared, but service was painfully slow throughout our entire meal, & not particularly friendly. We had to flag passing busboys to ask for our waiter for more drinks. We will continue to dine at Kingfisher on our yearly visits to Tucson, but last night's experience was a bit of a letdown."

  • "Wonderful, memorably delicious meal. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, fish and bovine were just terrific. Desserts were scrumptious. Will make it a point to come back the next time I am vacationing in Tucson, and will bring my family as well. Fabulous experience all around."
