  • "Service was great, didn't flinch when we asked to move to a more romantic table. Cocktails are fantastic, bar tenders know their craft. Food was smack your mama good."

  • "Being a "Foodie", I was looking forward to trying this new restaurant in the French Quarter. The service was wonderful, but the food did not deliver the hype that it had received. The assorted "Cracklings" were unidentifiable and bland. The "Beet Salad" only had a whisper of a grated beet. Two guests had the "Fish on Salt Brick". Great concept, but poor execution. Both had their entrées end up in their laps and had to return to the hotel to change clothes. My "Bone-in Ribeye" was undercooked and flavorless. The "Roasted Chicken", again flavorless. The French Quarter is in great need of "fine dining" restaurants, as most have become unimaginative and overpriced for mediocre food. Hopefully, "Kingfish" will step up their game."

  • "A colleague and I went to Kingfish during a business trip to New Orleans. The place was crowded, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. The bar was full of fans watching USA in the World Cup, and though it could have easily been too noisy, it never reached too much of a din. The dinner was solid, with a nice shrimp and okra appetizer. I had the dirty chicken, breaking my normal rule about not ordering chicken at restaurants because that isn't very exciting. It was quite nice, though I did wish I tried something more adventurous. The waiter couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant."

  • "Our drinks took forever and finally showed up with our appetizer followed by the bread that Im assuming should have been brought to the table soon after the water. My wife ordered a scallop and shrimp dish that was delicious, I ordered a seafood casserole dish that didn't have a lot going on in the flavor department, and for the price of the dish I would expect to see more seafood, it was mostly beans with very little shrimp, fish, and andouille sausage. and to top it all off our waitress took my wife's drink away before she was finished, there wasn't much left but she should of asked."

  • "We had an excellent meal. I had the pulled pork pot pie and it was delicious. Serving staff were very friendly and attentive. Presentation of the food was also very good. After a trip full of lots of fine restaurants this too was very, very good."

  • "Great Cocktails, the bartender (Chris, I think) really knows his stuff. Service was spot on, the waiter did not miss a beat and was a step ahead of us at all times. The apps were good, just very small portions for the price. Entrees were good, just hope for a little more flavor in some of them, kind of bland for NOLA. I would definitely try it again."

  • "Kingfish was recommended by a family member. The place did not disappoint. The staff had our seating ready when we arrived and we were seated within minutes of arriving. The waiter knew his menu and his bar specialties. The food was excellent. Highly recommend trying whatever the off menu specialty is for the day."

  • "This was an amazing experience all around, food was great, service was amazing, and ambiance nothing less than awesome."

  • "The bartender that served us seemed indifferent to annoyed that we were there, no personality at all. Drinks were small and chintzy. I had to separately request an olive for a martinin, the mojito served did not look like a mojito and was not muddled, and the wine poured was not the wine requested but charged the higher price of the two. I would not return for another Happy Hour. We were on time for our dining reservation and promptly greeted by our server. However she was also assigned to larger party in the separate building of the courtyard. This resulted in long lapses in service to our table. Food and quality were great, service was not. A table in the dinning room should not have to compete for service in another building."

  • "We dined at Kingfish during the French Quarter Festival. We arrived in NOLA very late. Made a reservation on Open Table which was actually after the kitchen was supposed to close. Several others did the same. They kept the kitchen open to accommodate all of us. Food and service were both fantastic. We will be back!"

  • "Great quiet environment for a late meal within the french quarter. KingFish dish #1 highly recommended. My wife was not feeling well with an upset stomach and the staff did everything to provide a dish that was appropriate and make this a great experience. Special THANKS to MIKE"

  • "I loved Kingfish on my first visit. Food and cocktails were top notch. I dined there this weekend and found the food just as good as I remember, creative and tasty. However, our server, although nice was not as attentive a our sever was the first time. We found ourselves looking around for him and asking multiple questions about ingredients and food preparation that should have been part of either the menu presentation or food delivery."

  • "We dined there based on a local paper that stated it was best new restaurant. We liked the vibe, awesome decor and bar. Our waiter (forgot his name) was quirky but cool. But the kitchen needs help. Apps were cold and even not so warm even after we we sent back to heat up. The waiter and manager took the item off the check which was nice considering we did end up eating it. Entrees were so-so, I got the fish of the day on some salt block, very small portion and the favors though good, didn't jibe. Hubby said his meal was good, but nothing special too. You definitely need to get sides with you're meal which we did, and the veggie mix was warm and crisp. Kudos to our server who gave great service and a round of wine!"

  • "Great lunch menu. Much of the food comes from Covey Rise Farms. Wonderful beet salad. Pickled Mirliton & Corn Bread Dressing was perfect. Top notch as you would expect from Greg Sonnier. "

  • "Sophisticated interior, friendly & professional staff, delicious food. We were a table of 5 and all agreed that Kingfish is our new favorite spot in the Quarter. Amongst the 5-star items: beet salad, infused chicken and the grits."

  • "We ordered appetizers/drinks. The waiter didn't like it and didn't check on us the rest of the evening. We had to ask someone else for anything else we needed. We paid and he didn't even say thank you! The drinks that were served were also very small and were $12. I definitely would not go back or recommend it! "

  • "We had an excellent dining experience at this restaurant. Our server, Patrick, was fantastic and our food and drinks were great. Definitely try the alligator wings as an appetizer...they were tasty. This is a romantic spot, to celebrate a birthday, or just to have a slow, enjoyable dinner. I highly recommend it, thanks for the great memory!"

  • "My first time was after the French Quarter Fest - had drinks & light food in bar area. We were really impressed with the atmosphere & personal attention from management. This time the great experience started with delicious cocktails with friendly bartender, Emma! I had the Pimm's Cup - excellent & my friend tried the French 75 - also great. Dinner was the Butternut Squash Lobster Bisque - outstanding; pot pie & gulf fish served on a plank - both good. I think the 3rd time will be the charm :)"

  • "I made a late lunch reservation at 2:00. We arrived to a frosty hostess who couldn't be bothered to smile at us. Our waiter was knowledgable but service overall was extremely slow. We were seated near the bar and could see how long it was taking for drinks to be made. It look 15 minutes to get a glass of wine. Our food was mediocre. The hoppin john salad wasn't very tasty and the fried green tomatoes it was served w/ had no flavor. My friend's butternut squash and lobster soup was brown w/ spices. He couldn't taste the squash and the lobster barely registered. The small plate shrimp dish I got as my main course was a bit of a mess. A soggy sweet potato waffle topped w/ Barbeque sauce and shrimp, 2 of which still had shell on them."

  • "My girlfriend and I arrived just as the restaurant opened for lunch. It is located in a beautiful building in the French Quarter right beside the courthouse. The food there was very delicious. My beef tournedos were done correctly to my order and were very flavourful. The only complaint I can think of is the relative small size of the appetizer, I only got two small shrimps for my shrimp prima . Overall, $80 apps+main for 2."

  • "Was here twice before and had a pretty good experience, but this time, the waiter was terrible, the food was not served until 55min after we arrived for lunch! The appetizers we ordered were brought to the table next to us (who were seated 15 min after us) by a different server. No one came over to apologize for the mistake. When the manager finally came to the table, the first thing she said, before we could even explain what had happened, was "Just so you know, we are not a fast food restaurant" Terrible! Beautiful place, just bad service. When the food (finally) came out of the kitchen, the lettuce was old and brown on the edges, the fish "special" was overcooked and cold, and the chicken was just okay. Will not be back to eat."

  • "Kingfish is a great addition to the FQ scene. It hasn't been "discovered" by tourists yet. The service is warm and personable. The plank fish and the cocktails were memorable. We sat by the french doors at the front of the restaurant which were open to the street and let in a warm breeze. A week earlier we sat by a beautiful, huge fireplace in the back and had killer Bloody Marys."

  • "We had a very good meal. There were four in our party and we had different appetizers, entrees and desserts as well as cocktails and several bottles of wine. Everything was very very good till it came to coffee. During the meal we had several of the wait staff ask about our meal but when we were served the worst cup of coffee I ever had in New Orleans, pale beige, (been coming here every year for three decades) not one of them seemed to care. They did not offer to replace it or at the very least take it off the bill as we did not drink it. Too many other places that want your business in the Quarter."

  • "My first time at Kingfish - went for lunch with a friend & it was great!! The atmosphere was pleasant, food terrific, prices really reasonable and service outstanding! They did not rush us, making it the perfect get together spot for a lunch date to catch up with old friends. Thank you."

  • "It was a nice change of pace to have a dining experience in New Orleans which was great food but not Cajun or Creole. Loved it."

  • "I had a delicous salad for lunch...rare to come by in the French Quarter. My son had a disappointing BBQ sandwich with very greasy fries. The rest of our food was great. We returned to the bar several times during our visit to NOLA to enjoy the extensive drink menu and comfortable atmosphere. "

  • "Every restaurant can have an "off day" here and there but our lunch at Kingfish was a complete disaster. Took clients, too, so it was even more embarrassing. Every bit of food ordered, save for the french fries, was bland and tasteless. No flavor whatsoever...school cafeteria food has more zing than either the rotisserie chicken or the fish tacos. Today's lobster bisque ended up coming out as some blob so thick you could eat it with a fork. One person in our party sent his back, while the other didn't. The waiter was entirely too "personal" for my taste, too. Each time he came over, he jumped into our conversation as if he was dining with us. Not cool. Overall, big fail."

  • "First impressions are everything to me. So I have high expectations for my first visit to a restaurant. I had heard great things about the food at Kingfish but otherwise did not know much about the restaurant. I had made a reservation so when we arrived we were greeted and seated almost immediately. The server, Chris, was entertaining and full of knowledge about the food. My guest and I both had cocktails; and they were amazing (French 75 and Bramble). From the appetizer to the main courses, we were grinning from ear to ear. The menu provided us with many options to try things we had never eaten before and our meals came out cooked to perfection. Very impressed with my first visit meaning I will be back soon."

  • "Service was attentive, prompt, and friendly, and drinks were spectacular. Though praised by a friend, the food was just okay. The cracklin's were good, though a little cold and more chewy than cracklin' (the best piece was at the very bottom of the dish). I expected this app to be on the greasy side (it is fried skin after all), but hoped it would be a bit crisper. Instead of smoky, the Alligator Wings Confit were simply too sweet, consisting mostly of breading and bone. The Pickled Mirliton & Corn Bread Dressing had very little of the squash (and I couldn't detect any of the pickling). It was tasty, but I hoped for more balance between vegetable and bread."

  • "5 of us made a 9:15 reservation. We arrived a bit early and they had a spot for is so we sat right away. Our waiter was knowledgable and really enthusiastic about the food. He anticipated a few questions and gave us his favorites as well. The cocktail list gave us lots to choose from. It is inventive and everything was delicious. I had a bourbon/champagne with muddled jalepeño. We ordered apps and mains to share. Fried green tomatoes were especially delicious as was a pork belly confit. The mains: pork shank, boursette (little pasta purses) with cheese and crab, grilled flounder over crawfish risotto, and scallops were excellent. The service was perfect - attentive but never rushing and we closed out the restaurant a little after 11."

  • "We had a lovely dinner, sand although menu seemed limited, there were good choices. My companion's pot pie looked great, and my fish was cooked to perfection. Our server was knowledgable and gave us good guidance. Sweet potato waffle shrimp appetizer - wow! Good time and good food for all!"

  • "Everything on the menu looks great. Between two of us we shared 4 'lil plates' and could hardly finish the entree we shared. Although could have something to do with the enormous pimms cup one of us had first. Dishes were flavorful and presented well and staff was friendly and informed from the hostess to the servers. Ambience was nice."
