Diner Reviews
  • "Both servings of strip steak were so tough , we both asked for shaper knives. Grizzel left on the cut was just wrong. I have never purchased a cut this poor from a food store. Very dissapointed!!"

  • "I have always loved King St. Trio - one of my favourite restaurants in the city. I love it even more now that I am wheat-free. They have lots of gluten free options, in apps and mains, as well as at least one gluten free dessert. My only possible suggestion would be to have some nacho chips or gluten free bread on hand so people could enjoy the Brie and the cheese plate too! Great night, great meal!"

  • "Thank you very much for the attentive service. We appreciated the thoughtful touch of offering a dessert to the birthday boy."

  • "Food was beyond amazing and service was excellent. Overall very pleased with our experience ! Will definitely return !"

  • "I had been before and really enjoyed it, came back again and it was a little disappointing. The food wasn't as good as my first visit, the service was very good, and really like the decor, but the food for the price was disappointing this time. I would try it again as it could have been a off day or different cook."

  • "reservation was easy and prompt on the web; service was friendly and fast, Waiter was extra friendly. The food was quite good although I did not enjoy the curry soup. It had too much meat and less taste of a curry. The ambiance was fine until the arrival of a group of younger clients. For a brief moment, I though I was in Beertown!"

  • "King street trio is a carnivore's delight! I always take out of town visitors here when I want to show off what Waterloo region does best: locally sourced food cooked to perfection and presented with elegance. We three shared two salads to start and then each enjoyed a different meat dish: rack of lamb with veg and roasted baby potatoes, 10 oz sirloin with garlic mash and veg, and bacon wrapped filet mignon with mash and veg. We shared a bottle of ontario red wine and topped it off with coffees. No room for dessert! This place is a gem. Five stars all round!"

  • "There is no question that KST is my favourite restaurant. My only constructive comment is I find the time to order feels to long as the wait staff continue to push drinks. However I have not found this in all experiences. Great place, great food and always very friendly environment."

  • "There isn't anything I could suggest to improve on the evening. Food, service ambience....everything fell together perfectly! I love the open kitchen concept. It gave me an opportunity to compliment the chefs. The deserts are made in house and the pumpkin creme brûlée is to die for."

  • "Very pleasantly surprised at the wonderful evening we had even though it was a very late Christmas friends out evening. The food was super and the service could not have been better, we were not rushed yet were not trying to fill time between courses. Amount of food was very plentiful our guys were not asking to stop somewhere on the way home to fill up. Will be back."

  • "server team was great to our group of 7 guys who were having supper before a scotch night up at DVLB. food was good but not the chefs' best night. will go again as soon as practical, will ask for a front window table."

  • "King St. Trio is definitely worth a visit. Service is professional and food is well thought out, consistent, and "honest" without the pretentiousness of some other spots. In Waterloo, most will recommend one or two spots that, in my opinion, are either hit-or-miss depending on the day you dine or just way over-hyped. King St. Trio is an extremely reliable restaurant for consistently high-calibre food, great service, and elegant but casual enough atmosphere. Jay W."

  • "I took two others to KST for dinner. Very friendly and polished service. A bit noisy for my tastes, but OK. It is what it is. The others really enjoyed their food (rack of lamb and risotto). I had a rib-eye steak. The piece of meat was full of gristle. Couldn't eat a good chunk of it as a consequence. I didn't make a fuss because it was a 'professional' dinner - I was taking a guest speaker out for a meal - but I was disappointed. Too bad, because I like KST and will go again."

  • "First the food: it wasn't bad but it wasn't great, plating was sloppy and flavours were muddy Second the service: our server was charming and attentive but management was hostile right from the moment we stepped in the door."

  • "Great service, great atmosphere, top notch sides, like the open kitchen, less than satisfied with the steak. Good date night location."

  • "KST has been a favourite for some time and our last visit on Feb. 15th didn't disappoint. Great mochachino cheese cake. Succulent filet mignon. Brian and Eric made us feel very welcome."

  • "Was greeted with a smiling face from the host. Service was above par - they were busy, so the waits for food/drink were a little longer than I would expect, but we were still well looked after. Food was very tasty! Wish we had saved room for desert as it all looked delicious...but just couldn't eat another bite!"

  • "We really enjoyed our evening. The food was great: interesting options, nice combination of flavours, well presented. I love it when I walk away from a restaurant relaxed and talking about the great meal we just enjoyed."

  • "First time at King St trio.. A great experience, asked for a Martini that wasn't on there list, went out of there way to make it...Good was absolutely wonderful, fresh, delicious, great presentation, will come back again and again."

  • "Our first time here found us very happy with our choice of restaurants. Excellent staff and service from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious (everything we ordered) and I will say the steak was the best I have eaten in years. The baked Brie was to die for and overall I would say I will be returning sooner than later. My only complaint is the olive salt in my martini was extremely strong and ruined the drink. Get olives on the side or have them rinsed. Do yourself a favor and dine here."

  • "I recently booked dinner for two, followed by a surprise birthday party for 14 people to celebrate my husband's birthday. The staff were very attentive to every detail including secretly ushering in the guests. The food was excellent and many of our guests plan to return. The food is all prepared from scratch and the presentation is exquisite."

  • "Came here with a significant other for the first time. Waiters and waitresses were super friendly and accommodating. We had a seat right by the open kitchen so you know everything they make is fresh and done well. We got the cheese platter. A little too expensive for what we got, but it was still pretty good. I ordered the stuffed chicken which was on a bed of really nice risotto. My partner ordered the steak which was cooked very well and the demi-glace was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and refilled our glasses without us asking to. If I could afford these kinds of dinners all the time, I'd go back again =)"

  • "A nice dinner out. Great service. Wonderful ambiance. Food was mostly average, not memorable with the exception of the Oyster Rockefeller. A couple of small things that keep the occasion from being better and cheapen the experience. The balsamic seemed to be pretty entry level quality. And coffee was served with the milk/cream in those plastic individual portions that you expect in a diner or fast food place."

  • "This restaurant does not disappoint - I've enjoyed both lunch and dinner and repeatedly have a great meal and service. This is not a 'cheap date' and nor is it meant to be - 3 of us enjoyed fine dining for a birthday celebration for just under $150 - worth every dime we spent. We will be back!"

  • "The food was to die for. Had a great table next to the kitchen, watching them prepare food was an awesome experience. Service was great. Server was friendly. The manager Alex was fantastic. All in all a wonderful experience, I've been recommending it to everyone! Will definitely be back!"

  • "The service was great the server was great, the was great , but we ordered the Scallops and for the price was very disappointed in them they looked like they were cut in half very small , you get bigger ones at the grocery store for better price , for the $$$$$ spent it was just ok ."

  • "Amazingly friendly staff and very decent food! I had the NY strip loin steak and my girlfriend had the chicken Alfredo. Both were very good, although she enjoyed hers a little more I think. The steak was prepared amazingly and the butter sauce was perfect. The meat itself was not the best strip loin I've had but it was still quite good. The Alfredo portion size was pretty good (fed my gf for 3 meals in the end). I only had a bite but from that, it was quite good. The sauce has a nice mushroom taste which made the pasta pretty unique. Also the noodles are hand made on site (I think)! All in all, very nice experience!"

  • "The appetizers, oysters Rockefeller and seared scallops were over priced for the amount received and tasted just ok. The entrees, 6 oz filet and stuffed port tenderloin were delicious and we would order it again. The service was friendly, accommodating and attentive. The atmosphere was quiet yet we could not hear other tables and that was enjoyable for us. We both commented on the décor and enjoyed the ambience."

  • "In town for work and need a place to take my wife out to dinner, Looked online and found the King Street Trio. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. I would recommend to anyone."

  • "Great atmosphere and the staff was incredibly friendly! Had a great experience, however I found the food to be a little disappointing for the price. Bland taste and off textures (sauce was too runny, pasta was very mushy)."

  • "We were able to book in advance and are so grateful we did! The filet mignon was excellent with the Stilton crust and garlic mash were delicious! We had the pumpkin spice latte creme brûlée for dessert and wasn't too stuffed from dinner to eat it. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly and we will definitely come back again! Thank you for a great start to New Year's Eve!"

  • "To be able to go for casual dining and savour the cuisine that is made upon request. No rush and hustle. Kick back and watch the chef, sous chefs cook and to see they enjoy what they do. We will be back with friends or on our own, and give another featured food a try. Loved the appetizers "Pecan crusted brie with blueberry sauce". Awesome:)"

  • "we were at King Street Trio for New Years Eve. There was little to no evidence in the dining room that it was a special evening. We entered the dining room and were pointed to the table...were not escorted to the table. All evening long seemed to be rushed as if to get people out before midnight... We actually did end up leaving before midnight and went to another dining room in Waterloo with a lovely bar to celebrate midnight. The food was quite good throughout the eveing with a hefty price tag for 2 of over $200.00 for the evening... the dining room manager even left for the night around 10.. The chef did make an appearance around 11 to the tables to say Happy New Year."

  • "Great food and wonderful appetizers. Our challenge was the inexperience of the waitress. She tried to empty an entire bottle of wine into 4 glasses at the get go. Challenge to drink and not spill!!"

  • "I had not been to the King Street Trio since it was on University Ave and had not heard much about it, since the move. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the decor and the food. Both were excellent."
