A word from King + Duke
At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.

Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

I have been to King + Duke for dinner on a few occasions and always loved it, so I was delighted to find that lunch was just as wonderful. It's not overly expensive, and the food is wonderful. The service was absolutely top notch, and I only wish it were closer so I could go more often!

This is a great spot! Food was incredible, the atmosphere was a perfect balance between lively and somewhat intimate so you could hear your party speaking. The bartenders were amazing, I let them make my cocktail based on what I was in the mood for and they did not disappoint!

This was our first/ last time to King/Duke, I thought the food/ drink were very moderate for the cost. I really don't mind spending for a good meal, enviroment, but +$20 for 3 scallops that were nothing special and $15 glass of wine from a >$10 bottle they're a many better places to spend the evening.

Heard a lot about this place. The interiors are cool but it's a little too "the latest hot spot" for me. The food good was good, not excellent and it's hard to have a meaningful conversation because the place is so loud. I was a bit disappointed. Not sure what I expected but it sure wasn't "it" for me.

This place was a let down. The food was mediocre with some things being really good (hit) and some having no flavor and/or not enough seasoning (miss). Beef tartare was outstanding. Lamb shank lacked seasoning and was a tad bit overcooked. Lobster was ok. Brussels with bacon was really good. Cornbread was uneventful. The service was mediocre as well...not bad but we've had better. We were seated 25 minutes late and the hostess didn't explain that they would be sending a text to communicate that the table was ready. The waiter forgot our bread and didn't visit the table as much as expected. For the money spent, we would have been better off at Chops/Lobster bar. They need to step it up and provide Buckhead service to match those prices.

Everything about the meal was lovely. I had the same server two different times. She remembered me and the beer I ordered the first time. A nice thing to be remembered. The staff are present, kind, and unobtrusive. Sitting outside is perfect on a moderate night. Sitting inside is perfect any night. They made simple, wholesome ingredients quite extraordinary. This was my 3rd time dinning here and I brought 3 friends who had been dying to try it. The food was amazing but our service this trip was definitely lacking. We had a reservation at 8:30 and were waiting in the lounge for 15 minutes when the hotess came to get us for the table which wasn't ready even once she got us. Then we we given water but no one came to take our drink order or greet us for 15 minutes and then it took a long time for them to arrive. Our server never really greeted us or told us about the menu. The food was delicious even though it took about 30 minutes for our entrees to arrive after our appetizers. Overall I think they were having an "off" night. Would still go back!

We visited on a week night and had very good service and delicious food. The cheddar cheese popovers with a little melted butter would have been worth the trip, but the pimento cheese hushpuppies and the deviled eggs with crab salad sealed the deal. Our entrees were all good, but the biggest surprise was the chicken; it was so moist! We will go back.

The food & bottle of wine was expensive! My wife had the Lobster dish and I ordered the steak dish. First of all, the Lobster dish was OK, but nothing special! The steak dish was $67.00 and it had grizzle in it & the steak didn't compare with McKendrick's, Chop's and/or Bone's. We were disappointed! We spent over $200.00,which we were willing to pay, but the Lobster and Steak dishes were not what we expected & overpriced! We got ripped off!

This was our second visit to Kkng & Duke. We came shortly after they opened and they had some links to work out but it seems like they've done it. We had a great knowledgable server and the food was unfussy and outstanding. The candied lamb belly appetizer was wonderful-lots of warm spice with pickled cucumber and goats cheese the lobster roast was amazing. That's how to eat lobster! The roasting brings out the natural sweetness and the citrus and Brazil nut but on top was incredible. And don't forget the Yorkshire pudding/popovers they bring you before your meal. I'm a big Ford Fry fan and King & duke doesn't disappoint.

I've heard so much hype about King + Duke and it's sort of true. The food is unique and delicious. The ambiance is very vibrant. I was just surprised at the way I was treated as an OpenTable VIP. I made an 8pm reservation for a Wednesdsy night and I requested Chef's Table or downstairs seating when I made my reservation, but my party of 3 was seated upstairs at a big round table for 7! It was very awkward. I asked to move to a smaller table, but was told they had nothing smaller unless we wanted to wait. I spotted a corner round table for 6 and we moved there, but the hostess was extremely curt and annoyed. Usually OpenTable VIP means great treatment, but not here, apparently. Very disappointing!

I struggle with this, because I really wanted to like this place. It took 2 months to get reservations (generally suggests an excellent restaurant) so I was really looking forward to a great dinner. Well lets just say I had a serious let down. First, the atmosphere is great, and the only reason I would recommend King and Duke would be for a starter place to enjoy a cocktail and an appetizer. The service was less than spectacular, and when your are spending the kind of money they are asking, it should be nothing short of stellar. Four dishes with one "very good" and three disappointments (one had to be comped). Portion size is an insult for what they charge. Much more wrong but not enough characters left to go into detail.

I perused the menu online prior to my visit and was sorely disappointed to find some of the more adventurous offering no longer on the menu (specifically, the redfish, duck and rabbit dishes). The lamb appetizer was underwhelming for lamb (one of my favorite meats), and the sirloin with chimmichurri was 'meh' at best, and it came out closer to medium than the rare I requested. The brussel sprouts were good, but nothing spectacular. The highlight of the meal was the mushroom side, served in a cream sauce over a crusty baguette. The atmosphere was great and our server was wonderful, but for the price, I wasn't impressed by the food, and the online menu was wrought with false advertising.
