  • "I just discovered this neighborhood gem. The dishes were fresh, well prepared and inventive with the flavors melding deliciously in each dish. We enjoyed every dish we tried. My favorite was the pappardelle with baby kale, wild mushrooms, smoked mozzerella, creme fraiche, and guanciale...I usually get bored with pasta but the combination of textures and taste in this dish was superb with every bite. The beet salad and quinoa and lentil cakes were equally good. This is the best restaurant I have been in SF in a long time. It is a cozy spot with a great ambiance and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend."

  • "My husband and I were totally surprised by how good this Luis little pop up restaurant was. I had the Duroc pork chop which was very tender and tasty and my husband had the NY strip steak/short rib duo. Short ribs were just like what mom made. All the sides were delicious too. It appears the chef changes the menu frequently depending what is fresh and local. He came out and greeted us after dinner, something he did to everyone. A nice touch."

  • "We rarely make it out to Bernal Heights, so it was fun to walk around a bit before heading to the restaurant. Cozy place with great staff and friendly chef! We had really great wine, and dinner was fun. Most of the menu sounded different and inventive, which was great for our adventurous group. In the end, the dishes that were less on the "inventive" side were the home runs, but nothing was actually bad. Actually, everything was good or great!! It's just the winners were simple (yet really solid) dishes."

  • "I think this is my new favorite. Delicious, well sourced, beautifully presented, clever dishes served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. We ordered all the appetizers because they all sounded so tasty. And they were. Especially the crab falafel and uni creme brûlée! We also ordered the pork chop and the pappardelle. I'm veggie so I can't comment on the chop but the black garlic sauce was a treat. The pappardelle was perfectly cooked, and mouthwateringly creamy! They also have vegan and gluten-free options. We shared a Martian Albariño wine, which I was happy to see on the menu. I can't say enough good things about this pop up after my second visit. I'll be back - next time, for brunch!"

  • "I love the pop-up atmosphere. We had 8:30 pm reservations and this small eatery was packed and continued to be packed with patrons until we left (10:30). We enjoyed our crab falafels, mushroom brown rice 'risotto' and the beef dish. Everything was fresh and were pleased we got to meet the chef. A wonderful experience and we plan to return."

  • "I've eaten at Kinfolk twice and both times have been outstanding. They're doing great work in a tiny space that's not set up for their level of cooking. The room is cramped and really noisy, and they might have to hunt for tools (like a decanter when the cork broke on the 20-year-old wine we brought). But the food and service have hit their marks consistently, and they have a surprisingly nice wine list for a pop-up. I hope they can find a permanent (and larger) location in the neighborhood."

  • "Very good food. Exceeded expectations on quality and taste, but also on price. Wife and I each had an appetizer and a main course and split dessert. One glass of wine each and bill with tip and tax ended up around $150. Seems a bit high for a neighborhood joint. But again, the food was excellent and so was the service so really can't complain."

I never heard of it, found it on open table. I like to go to restaurants near where I live so I chose it also because it had good reviews and I loved the menu choices and ingredients of the dishes. I had the pork chop - it was outstanding!"

The only thing my husband was a little disappointed in was the uni flan. Hew ould have liked more of the uni taste. The chef was very personable and came to all the diners tables to make sure everything was fine, a very nice touch!"

  • "We tried Kinfolk frankly because we were able to get a last minute reservation on opentable. But we will be coming back! The menu had a number of items that sounded delicious, and I think between the three of us we ended up ordering about 8 of the items not including dessert. Everything was very good. Standouts were the scallops (with pork belly) and the duo of beef. The farro side dish was also yummy and good comfort food. Only slight negative was the timing of the dishes. I got my salad while the others had their main courses. Desserts were good but not the highlight. The butterscotch pudding was airy, almost too much so- I was looking forward to a little more creaminess. But still, all was good. The chef was very nice too."

I had the beet salad with blue cheese, the sea urchin custard brulee, the fried chicken thighs and an amazing caramel pear dessert. Wines by the glass complemented the meal well. A very warm and wonderful place. Outstanding food that rivals many of the top restaurants -- I hope Kinfolk succeeds!!! Note, this is a temporary space for Kinfolk (a "pop-up") -- lets hope Chef Greg and his staff can find a permanent space!!"

  • "We had a quiet table in the corner which made conversation very easy, yeah! Kinfolk is small and homey. You feel the personal touch. The menu is small but the steak and short ribs was just excellent as were the cod and gigantic pork chop. The brushetta and salad were very good too. The only thing I didn't really care for was the brulee. It was a fish dish but was just too fishy and not creamy enough for me. I love the slow paced service where you don't feel rushed especially since with such a small place you would think, they would want to turn the tables quickly. The wine pours seemed a little low. Definitely a new happening place and the prices are reasonable for what you get."

  • "I almost hate giving a 5-star review here, because I know that it's only a matter of time before this small pop-up restaurant with 5 tables gets to be impossible to book. But this is truly the best gem in Bernal Heights, and possibly San Francisco. Chef Greg has created some wonderful dishes, so come with a group and enjoy it all!"
