Diner Reviews
  • "We sat on the street, which was a bit noisy with cars. But that said, we had a wonderful dinner, timed just right to attend a show at The Guthrie. Ky was attentive and took great care of us!"

  • "The food was really good. Our waiter was very nice and personable."

  • "Delicious food, as always. Good selection of spicy and non-spicy, vegetarian and non, to fit any desires. I often go to Kindee when I have an event at Mill City Museum or the Guthrie, so location is perfect for that. The one difficulty is it's noisy (bad acoustics), so hard to converse with one's dinner companions."

  • "We decided to try Kimdee because we had tickets for a Saturday night performance at the Guthrie. We were not impressed with the restaurant. They were out of fried spring rolls at 6:00 PM, the honey lime chicken I ordered was unexceptional though listed as the chef's choice, and my fried rice was lukewarm. We asked for the ginger Creme brûlée only to be told they were out of it. The waiter suggested we go down the street to Izzy's ice cream for dessert. Our waiter is not to be faulted--he was very attentive and apologetic. Having said that, we won't be back. We can get better Thai food elsewhere."

  • "Kindee Thai is a great place to go before seeing a play at the Guthrie. I always suggest it to friends as the Happy Hour prices are good and the food dependable. We had a meal this time and it did not disappoint. Our server was lovely and friendly. A full bar menu would be nice."

  • "I had a very bad experience at this restaurant and I do not wish to return."

  • "Kindee remains one of my favorites! The food is outstandingly good, fun and adventurous. The Chef will share his recipes, but you'll never be able to make them as well as he does! Be adventurous, try something new each time."

  • "Good food, quick service. Fine place for pre-theater dining."

  • "Had dinner here before a Guthrie show. The curries we tried were very good - duck with grapes, and Panang. Unfortunately, they were out of Massaman curry. The amount of rice provided with each dish was far too little for the amount of food, and we were charged extra for a small additional serving, which seems like a cheap shot when entrees cost fifteen dollars."

  • "The food at Kindee is always excellent. However, the seating is cramped and uncomfortable (perhaps to keep patrons from lingering?). The acoustics create an annoying amount of noise, even during slow times with few people present and/or when diners are speaking relatively quietly. The female servers were dressed inappropriately. Next time, we'll get our Kindee to go."

  • "I love Kindee---the food is superb, and so is the service. I especially enjoy the Woon Sen, and the Pad See Ew---both are full of flavor, and perfect to share. They recently added Kanom Chine-an excellent choice for a special occasion! Really-everything is great!"

  • "Kindee Thai's food & service are consistently excellent. All the appetizers are great but my favorite are the cranberry cream cheese wontons. Recommend reservations when Guthrie is in session."

  • "Excellent Thai Cuisine with a modern touch at a modest price. Wine list is acceptable ... I always get the Riesling with my Thai dish. Right across from the Guthrie so it is a favorite for theater goers. Make sure you make a reservation during the fall-winter season or you may not get a table!"

  • "I found the Lime Honey Chicken lacking taste but my sister ordered it and enjoyed it. My other sister ordered a curry dish and was very happy with her dish."

  • "Really good food and close to theatre. We were, however, overcharged for our wine choice (based on the menu price) and even after pointing it out the discount was not down to the correct amount. The show was starting and we just let the extra 2.00 go. Hope this was a one time mistake."

  • "Dined outside on a Sunday evening pre-Guthrie. We'd go again."

  • "Kindee has great food. The taste is authentic and the presentation is beautiful. Had a large group dinner there and everyone raved about the food."

  • "We were in the neighborhood and wanted good food and good service. We got both at this restaurant. The food was hot and delicious and the service was quick and efficient."

  • "I always like Kindee. It has good food and service, and is handy to the Guthrie. We have eaten there many times since we are Guthrie season ticket holders. This last time we were disappointed in two things. Their sound track was obnoxious. All we could hear was a heavy pound pound of a low beat. It gets old. Also, they turned down the lights in the middle of the dinner to a point where is was downright dark and distasteful in a back corner. These affected my ambiance ratings."

  • "Perfect for pre-Guthrie. Good pricing for the area. "

  • "The service was impeccable. We sat outside and enjoyed a leisurely dinner and watched all the theater-goers. Great gem!"

  • "We heard that the couple before us did not have a reservation, and the Kindee only had outside tables available, so we asked the couple if they would like to dine with us. It was a lot of fun to meet new people in that way!"

  • "This is a great spot to eat before enjoying a play at the Guthrie. Just let your server know you have a play to attend and they make sure your food is there and you can get on your way. Yet I never feel rushed to give up my seat if I am not in a hurry. Service is good and food is good. They have dishes for those who like it hot and those who do not. I never see many children here which is just fine for a night out."

  • "Kindee is dependably good food with nice fast service. Great for pre-theater. We really enjoyed the red curry and tom kha soup. Just one complaint: the bathrooms were a mess."

  • "We were easily able to get in for a quick bite before the theatre. The food was okay- had a few apps- nothing outstanding. The fish lettce wraps were rubbery so I wouldn't get them again. The service was fast."

  • "I brought a group of friends for my birthday. The food was excellent...everyone really enjoyed their dishes. The server, on the other hand, was often absent (we would have had more drinks...if we could have ordered them) and he was clearly put-out by the fact that we asked for separate checks. I also wasn't offered to see a dessert list. I would go back simply for the food, but I would steer clear of the server."

  • "Looking for spot near Guthrie to eat before play and had never been here. The food is bursting with flavor & everything is super fresh. Service generally very good, quick when we needed it to be. The decor is pleasant with some nice touches: far Eastern style tapestry & lighting and harmonious color scheme. Though mostly full, it was relatively quiet, seating a little tight but adequate spacing. Wine list had many fine choices. I had the shrimp spring roll and it was very savory and was accompanied by a perfectly balanced sauce. Then got a salmon with vege and rice dish that was faultless. Love that the rice choices are jasmine & brown! My friend said her tofu vege dish was very pleasing. Definitely will return!"

  • "Myself and four friends met at Kindee Thai on a Friday. We ordered three apps and three entrees to share. All were wonderful. The only complaint was the dipping sauce for the calamari had a unpleasant smell to it. It tasted great though. We had the spring rolls with shrimp, the cranberry cream cheese wontons and the calamari. For mains we had the pad thai with tofu, a chicken stir fry with veggies, and a beef dish with veggies and kefir limes. Everything was lovely. We didn't leave any food on the plates. The service was great at first but as we were finishing up our server got slammed (there was only one server as far as I could tell) and we had to wait quite a bit for our bill. I highly recommend this place."

  • "Food was good, but the wine pour was very stingy. White wine was, maybe 3 ounces. Red was 4 ounces. Price $7 for white. "

  • "The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. The restaurant had beautiful decorations and a very welcoming feel. Then I found that the service was honestly some of the best service I've ever had. When our food came it had a beautiful look to it and tasted just as it looked. Overall my experience there was great and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those looking for a place to eat before or after a show at the Guthery because Kindee Thai Restaurant is kitty corner with it."

  • "Loved the food -- exceptional. The desserts lacked, were disappointing, not of the same caliber. The rest -- appetizers, main course -- were great. Service was good. Comfortable environment."

  • "We tried this out before a going to a play at the Guthrie. I'm delighted we did. The spring rolls were fresh and the sauce especially flavorful. The chicken satay was so juicy and well seasoned and I could have just about ate the dipping sauce with a spoon. The drunken noodles were amazing. The jungle curry was spicy and I loved all the vegetables in it. Beware though, because it doesn't have coconut milk it's a broth served in a bowl with a side of rice on a plate. I wasn't expecting that, my fault for not asking I guess. The ginger crème brulee I'm still thinking about. The waiter was very attentive. Everything was reasonably priced. We loved the restaurant and plan on going back."

  • "Perfect spot to have a bite before going to the Guthrie. The spring rolls, suggested by our waiter, delicious. We'll definitely have those every time we go to Kindee. Had yellow curry - with tofu - I thought the potatoes in the curry were just ok. Husband had beef tenderloin (suggested by our waiter) he pronounced it delicious. Inventive food, I had green tea crème brulee - sounded unusual, and was very good. Not too sweet, but with good flavor. Suggest a reservation - the place was full. I saw 3 people get take out while we were there. Will definitely eat there again."

  • "We like to dine at Kindee Thai whenever we go to the Guthrie. The food is great. We loved the coconut-lime soup, the fried sprint rolls, and the masaman curry. The service is prompt and friendly. We'll be back!"

  • "We enjoy having dinner here before a Guthrie production. Kindee Thai has consistently upgraded it's menu, adding better wines, craft beers, and adding dishes such as halibut. They have kept our old favorites, such as Tempura Green Beans & Sweet Potatoes, and Lettuce Wrap Fish. Food is fresh, cooked to order and served well. They hold spaces for reservations (recommended on play nights) so we can get in and out in 40 minutes without feeling rushed. It's a great place to go."
