Diner Reviews
  • "My friend's birthday was the occasion for Sunday Brunch and the staff couldn't have been more accomodating. The fixed price brunch contained a multitude of possibilities: Three courses - Appetizer, Entrée and Dessert. Something to satisfy the pickiest gastronome. The atmosphere is quiet and reserved, which is very conducive to conversation. ( What a joy it was not to have to yell over music or clanging dishes. ) We had a lovely time here"

  • "Beautiful old inn. Thought the food was very good (had sea scallops, fish special and lamb chops with salads and desserts). Went on a Thur eve and was quiet - my elderly parents had no problem hearing our conversation."

  • "The Kimberton Inn sits on one of four corners with buildings from the early 1800s. Parking was easy. Food was outstanding in presentation and taste. We both ordered the tenderloin tail with lobster, which was done perfectly to taste. Wine list was average with reasonable prices. Service was professional and pleasant. The ambience was quiet; reasonably lit with nicely set tables. Prices, which were high, reflect the Inn's reputation. Still, it was worth it. My only negative is that neither our waitstaff nor the owner (who stopped by and took our dessert order, introduced themselves. Had they done that (and maybe the owner could have chatted for a minute or two - it wasn't that busy), I think I would have given them a 5 for service as well."

  • "Kimberton Inn has been around forever and it is absolutely one of the best food experiences every time - we can skip a year or two (not by choice) - and still be blown away. I love the relaxing atmosphere, the excellent not rushed service, the always amazing menu. Imaginative, always fresh, and very delicious! So happy some things never change!!!"

  • "The only reason we went to the Kimberton Inn because we had a gift card. When we sat down the waitress took our drink order then gave us the menus and said the specials are inside and walked away. Not real pleasant. We received our drinks from another server and out waitress did not come back for 20 minutes. We were just getting ready to pay for our drinks and then leave. The food is ok. Nothing special about the menu. Anyone can make this menu at home. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN."

  • "I never heard of the Kimberton Inn. I mentioned it to two friends just before we went and both said I would like it. I will go back."

  • "We continue to be impressed with the consistent manner that all aspects are done by Jeff and his capable staff at KI. We live in the area and it is hard to find another restaurant that provides such an enjoyable experience."

  • "The food was good traditional food. The menu has something for everyone. The duck was wonderful. The location and interior of the restaurant is not to be missed. Very comfortable with the warmth of the fireplaces made it a very enjoyable evening."

  • "We've dined at Kimberton Inn many times through the years and have always been charmed by the ambience, excellent food and first-class attentive service. From the warm glow of the huge wood-burning fireplaces to the piano music which can be enjoyed in all of the dining rooms, I highly recommend this historical restaurant for a special dining experience. The owner and waitstaff are attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed drinks in the bar after dinner and were happy to find diners at the bar. Good to know if you have not made a reservation. The variety of items on the menu as well as the nightly specials are sure to satisfy any dinner and the chef is accommodating to substitutions if desired."

  • "Dinner reservations on Saturday night at 7:15. We were taken to our table in quick order. When ordering our meal however, 2 of the specials were not available. Difficult to believe that at that time of the evening, both scallops and strip steak were both sold out! Perhaps the chef needs to plan a little better!"

  • "Although the restaurant/setting is romantic, our table for 2 was in the corner next to a serving station. This was noisy, distracting and decidedly not romantic. A fine restaurant would not put a table there. Portions were extremely small, which would be fine if the quality of the food was superb - it was not. My filet was tough. Prices were not aligned with the quality of the food. Service from the bus boy was awesome, from the waitress, service was spotty. We were not welcomed. The only thing we heard about the specials is that they were out of the scallops. Took a while to be acknowledged and order placed. She did not ask if we had any questions on the menu."

  • "I have never before rated an entrée from a high end restaurant less than good. However, this past Friday, I was served a rib eye steak at the Kimberton Inn that is best described as a blob of fat. For the alleged 10 oz. steak, only about two oz. were edible. Our server was efficient in re her obligations; however, when I mentioned the poor quality of the steak to her, she only "half smiled" and said she would tell the chef. In my view, however, such should not have been necessary. The chef must have seen that the entire center section of the steak (about 1/3 of the whole) was pure fat and most of the rest so laden - and, thus, should not have even prepared it for serving."

  • "The food we had was excellent- the pork chop and rib-eye steak. Also, the special butternut squash bisque, which could have been a meal in itself! Service was great. Even though our waitress seemed to have a large number of tables, she was always there when we needed her. The separation of rooms kept it quiet. So nice to have a restaurant with NO TV's! This is an adult restaurant for sure, with a price tag to match, but definitely worth it for a special occasion!"

  • "We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The food is first rate and consistently good and the service is always top notch. Celebrating our wedding anniversary recently, we were seated upstairs in this elegant old inn. My wife had the lobster bisque, coconut shrimp and "Probably The Best Salad You´ll Ever Have", while I had the onion soup and the strip steak with mashed potatoes. All was very good. Service was attentive without being overbearing and sound level was comfortable for a quiet conversation without being "dead". All in all a dependable selection for a romantic dinner."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant. We've been here maybe six times in the past few years and have yet to have a bad meal. Only complaint is sometimes the server disappears for long stretches and leaves all the work to the bus boys."

  • "The dining room was warm and charming with several wood-burning fireplaces, low lighting supplemented by candlelight. Food was delicious but at the higher end of our budget, so we will save this for special occasions."

  • "After living in Phoenixville fir ten years, I finally tried Kimberton Inn when I saw the Living Social deal. We were a bit later than our reservation, and everyone was quite pleasant. Service was great; food was excellent."

  • "Kimberton Inn is our favorite place for an outstanding meal and over the top service. Everyone on staff is professional, courteous, and all about the patron. Their "wine dinner" once a month is an incredible experience. Highly recommend the restaurant for any occasion, but for something really great, the wine dinner must be experienced!"

  • "I have to say, we were seated upstairs to the left of the fireplace which is absolutely the best table in this warm and wonderful inn. Our server was quick to respond to our needs, and everything was delivered promptly until the restaurant became full. Our dinner as always, was delicious. Fortunately we had nearly finished as her station filled up, planning to order dessert and coffee. I had ordered B&B with my coffee, but sadly it came to the table about 15 minutes after the coffee arrived, which by that time had been consumed. We did not order dessert either, because it took her so long to return to the table and take our order. Other than that, it was a perfect evening. i suppose you can't blame them for being popular."

  • "We have dined here several times since moving to the area only a year or so ago and it has never disappointed. The food is always of the highest standard and lots to choose from. The staff were excellent, from a lovely welcome to the table service, nothing could be faulted."

  • "I took my husband to brunch to the Kimberton Inn for his birthday. We've never been there, so this was a great experience. It has a comfortable rustic feel and ambience. The brunch list was exquisite, and the service was phenomenal. Everything down to the coffee was absolutely tasty and not overwhelming. You know the feeling of going to a local diner and you get so much loaded food on the plate that makes no sense for anyone to finish? This place has absolutely great food, carefully prepared and not served on diner-style platter amounts. The service staff was very courteous and not imposing. I'm looking forward to my next brunch at this place, and I've spread the word at my office of how great this place is."

  • "Our brunch was excellent , great food and drink. My only complaint would be that We were seated in the first table by the foyer, it was chilly there and EVERYONE Looks at you when going in and out. Our dessert took a long time to arrive too."

  • "I have been to Kimberton many times and brought my in laws from out of town to enjoy it. We were seated in the hallway. I did ask to be moved so that my in laws could enjoy the ambience of the restaurant. They moved us no problem, and they did say to request where you want to sit in the future and they won't seat you there. It would be fine, I guess, but everyone is constantly walking by being seated and leaving, sort of like the table next to the kitchen door! SOmething to consider if you book a reservation."

  • "Food is outstanding with a nice variety of selections. Also the service is excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Another plus is the very comfortable seating . It is an old and historic inn which has been carefully taken care of over the years, so the atmosphere is charming."

  • "For an appetizer I ordered the Smoked Maine Salmon for &13.50. It tasted okay but the portion for the price was less than skimpy. For the entree I had the Maryland Crab Cake. It had little flavor. The dab of sauce was excellent; it was about the size of a teaspoon. The plate was served with three strips of fried potato. Wow! What a generous serving! My wife ordered the red snapper special. The restaurant hit a home run with that dish. I had the chocolate truffle torte, which had a rich chocolate flavor. Home run! My wife had the dark chocolate mousse, which was weak in flavor. Beautiful historic setting with wood-burning fireplaces."

  • "Lovely old building/interior with great artwork throughout. We enjoyed our dinner, but nothing special. Portions are rather small and all vegetables a la carte. Would have preferred sitting downstairs by the fireplace. Will not go out of our way to return."

  • "Kimberton Inn is that rare combination of quality food, great service and an atmosphere that can't be beat. It all begins when you arrive , smelling the smoke from the wood fires (there are five working fireplaces) ablaze within. Nothing beats a cozy country inn on a cold evening, but that's just the beginning. A warm greeting, a great table by the fire, and you're set. Combine this with a very creative menu (probably the only restaurant where i would order chicken - theirs is hazelnut crusted!), and exceptional wine list, and servers who really take care of you, make is an evening to remember. This place has it all."

  • "Next to an open fireplace, in a candlelit dining room of a gracious inn, centuries old, my husband and I shared a feast. From the "Best Salad Ever" through the lamb and salmon, to the creme brulee, our conversation was peppered with "UMM!," and "wow, this is an amazing combination of tastes and textures," and, "just the right portion size," sorts of comments. A totally satisfying night. Our servers were attentive, but not hovering. Great place, tucked away in a charming Chester County hamlet."

  • "We first visited the Kimberton Inn about a year ago and were immediately impressed at the quality of our meal, and the attentiveness of the serving staff. We have since visited three more times, each time sampling some of the different tastes on the menu. You'll love the ambiance of the late 1700's Inn, with the scent of the wood burning fireplaces hitting you as you walk in from the parking lot. We will be back....often!"
