Diner Reviews
  • "Went on a Sunday evening and enjoyed a wonderful dinner! Atmosphere was quiet and comfortable yet we still felt "special". The wait staff were very attentive. WE had the crab cake and the pork chop - both were delicious. Went home very satisfied and will be back!"

  • "I have been eating at Kimberton since I was a child. My parents loved the restaurant. It still has the old school charm. The food is always very good, especially things with mushrooms. The sauces are wonderful. I love the old farmhouse atmosphere and the waitstaff is always attentive. I took my mother, who is 90 years old, and she was very happy with our choice of restaurant. The only negative thing was that they tried to seat us at a table next to the bar. It was quite loud and it would have been hard to hear our conversation. We immediately asked to be seated elsewhere because of the noise and were taken to one of the interior rooms, which was lovely. No problem with changing tables. As always, we had a great dinner and a fun time."

  • "Service was very competent, friendly. Ambience? Depends on what you like. This is an old place, the space composed of smaller rooms (vs one huge arena), with traditional furniture, old art work on the walls. Noise level was perfect for intimate conversation. Food is very well prepared. Only disappointment was the menu: the items are, for the most part, old familiar classics. (Shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque w sherry, Caesar salad, tenderloin w béarnaise, crab cake w remoulade, etc.). Not much new or innovative, no unusual combinations or flavors, just high quality traditional favorites."

  • "The Kimberton Inn was the perfect venue for celebrating our daughter's graduation from college. She choose an intimate brunch over a large party. The Kimberton Inn did not disappoint."

  • "I always say, go there in the winter to experience a real "Country Inn" in Chester County, with its five fireplaces ablaze. Fact is, it's great any time of year."

  • "Could not have been a better brunch experience. Wait staff was attentive but not overbearing or intrusive."

  • "Quality food prepared expertly. Service is impeccable. Love dining in the bar area for a treat without breaking the bank."

  • "I have been here on multiple occasions, brunch, date night, birthdays, you name it. You cannot go wrong. The food is always delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff is amazing, very attentive."

  • "This was my second time dining here and my second time getting a fabulous meal and excellent service. This was also my second time being seated in the "hallway" area where it was high traffic. For one and a half hours people were constantly walking back-and-forth going to the bathroom, going to the exit. It was a bit too disconcerting considering we were trying to have a romantic evening. In the future I will be sure to request a table in a more private area of the restaurant. Also, be prepared to pay top dollar for your drinks if you are waiting at the bar. We had two drinks each and the total was $50. Yes they were top shelf however if we had known they were $12 a piece we might have only had one each."

  • "Took my husband to dinner. Had never been to Kimberton Inn before. Was very impressed. Decor may be a little dated but the atmospher, food and service was impecable. Great dining for a special occassion. Didn't have the opportunity to grab a drink at the bar but the bar looked like it would be fun."

  • "Since we had been away from the area for 12 years, we looked forward to dining at the Kimberton Inn upon our return to PA. We found the service to be very attentive and the food was very well prepared and delicious. Our table was nice despite being in the hallway, since it was somewhat private being set back in an alcove like area. Had it not been set back it would have been very disappointing to be in the hallway area."

  • "We sat down before 2 other couples and ordered and we were last to be served our dinners. Way too long to wait 45min for dinner to come out. But the food was excellent. It made up for the wait."

  • "My husband loved his calves liver entree; I was disappointed that my favorite entree-the scallops-was not available. I chose the crab cake which was huge and full of crab but it did not have much flavor. Although we had made our reservation several weeks ahead, we were seated at a table adjacent to the kitchen door, a service hutch area and the stairway. Staff was racing by every 2 minutes. The dining room is romantic; however, our table was not."

  • "The four of us had dinner to celebrate a birthday and as usual, The Kimberton Inn did not disappoint. The food was delicious, although the portions are on the smaller side. The service is top notch and very professional. On a side note, there was a storm during dinner that knocked out the power and the staff handled it very calmly and professionally. You almost didn't know there was a storm and that it was meant to be a quiet, candlelit dinner. Bravo!"

  • "The food was very.good, especially the filet, but there was a lot of time between our appetizer course and entree course."

  • "The food, service and ambience was awesome. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "Overall portions were small, although they were tasty. Service was not very good, we appeared to be somewhat invisible to our waitress who gave us our order that simply disappeared and failed to refill beverages."

  • "A great country restaurant, with exceptional food. Service was outstanding from the greeting, the bus boys (taught the old fashion dining experience way which was so nice to see) and our waitress. Definately, will be going again to The Kimberton Inn."

  • "After waiting at our table for nearly 30 minutes just to order, we left. Our waitress had come to the table no more than 1 minute after we sat, but we had barely looked at the menu. She said she would return in a few moments. She took orders from other tables, but never returned to our table. We asked for her to return, but she did not. This restaurant has a nice interior, impressive menu, and a good wine selection, but the service was so poor that we never ordered food or drinks and went someplace else to eat."

  • "Great country inn type atmosphere with good food and good service. Have been there before and will definitely go there again. I do consider the Kimberton Inn to be a special occasion type of place."

  • "Over the past year or so, we have become regulars. The food is always excellent - and perfectly prepared. Wine list has a wide range of carefully picked, excellent wines at reasonable prices. Service is attentive, and prompt. We love the music on Fridays and Saturdays. The atmosphere is great - if you want a quiet corner, they have it - if you want to be in or near the bar for the music, that's also great. Consistently excellent!"

  • "Our entire wait team, lead by a very experienced waitress were very attentive to us, and the food was excellent."

  • "The once monthly wine dinner at the Inn is superb. The young man who pairs the wines with each course does a stellar job. He is most knowledgeable and shares lots of information before dining. Each course was not only tasty but beautifully presented too. It is a lot of food but served at a leisurely pace and is well worth the price. Thank you."

  • "Our meal was very good and priced accordingly. The service was friendly & prompt. Very nice atmosphere, not noisy with an old charm."

  • "Went to the Kimberton Inn for my wife's birthday. The ambiance was exceptional: romantic, quiet, beautiful (and this was just inside; they do have a nice looking outdoor eating area, it was just too hot to eat outside when we went). The food was solid. While not the most inventive or creative menu, everything we tasted was cooked very well. The wine list, while not exceptional, was solid and had something for everyone. The service was superb--never a dry cup of water, waitress gladly willing to ask chef and bartender questions if she didn't know the answer, etc. At the end of the day, it's not common to find this quality of restaurant in a town like Kimberton (small, a little run down, a little off the beaten path)."

  • "Here for Father's Day. Most of the party liked their food. I had what was billed as "Probably the Best Salad You'll Ever Have" ... not. It was not very large or flavorful for the $26 (with chicken). I would not recommend that particular dish. Those who had crab cakes reported they were very good. All in all I thought it was a bit on the expensive side for the quantity of food provided."

  • "We've eaten at Kimberton Inn twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner with elderly in-laws was very pleasant. We were able to talk easily as it was fairly quiet. All five of us enjoyed our meals. Service was excellent. Father's Day brunch was very relaxing. My husband loved the salmon. We look forward to our next meal at Kimberton Inn."

  • "dined on a Friday night - I think Kimberton was particularly busy b/c of a large party in another room... maitre d ensured we had cocktails in a timely manner... of note, Kimberton replaces cutlery at the table after diners complete a course, rather than parking the used fork, knife somewhere... and another big deal, Kimberton de-crumbs the table... waiting staff is not intrusive, but they are attentive... food was excellent... what UI saw was a well-run, professional restaurant, refined, friendly."

  • "The spinach salad special was beyond fabulous! I wish there was a dinner portion."

  • "They got unexpectedly busy, which meant the staff was stretched very thin. When our entree arrived, we asked for another glass of wine, which sadly did not arrive until we had finished."

  • "We had our rehearsal dinner 18 years ago at Kimberton Inn. The manager, Jeff Effgin and his staff were a true pleasure to work with and made what could've been a very stressful situation for my mother-in-law who lived out of state a breeze. We celebrate our anniversary every year w. my parents by going to one of the restaurants we went to the week of our wedding. To this day, Kimberton Inn is still at the top of the list. Thank you Jeff and team!"

  • "Nice place for special occasions, prices high for amount of food. Everything is a la carte. Ordered salmon and you just get the piece of fish on the plate sitting on a noodle."

  • "We had a lovely dinner on Sunday evening on the patio. We were the only table on the patio. We had great service. The food was very good. I will definitely be back for dinner again."

  • "Kimberton Inn is one of our favorites. Food and service was great. It's such a historical place with great colonial era atmosphere. While we were eating we questioned ourselves why we hadn't been there more often. We will be back soon."
