Diner Reviews
  • "The four of us had dinner to celebrate a birthday and as usual, The Kimberton Inn did not disappoint. The food was delicious, although the portions are on the smaller side. The service is top notch and very professional. On a side note, there was a storm during dinner that knocked out the power and the staff handled it very calmly and professionally. You almost didn't know there was a storm and that it was meant to be a quiet, candlelit dinner. Bravo!"

  • "We have dined at Kimberton Inn many times and always enjoy the setting and food. I recommend it for couples and small groups especially."

  • "The food was very.good, especially the filet, but there was a lot of time between our appetizer course and entree course."

  • "A great country restaurant, with exceptional food. Service was outstanding from the greeting, the bus boys (taught the old fashion dining experience way which was so nice to see) and our waitress. Definately, will be going again to The Kimberton Inn."

  • "Overall portions were small, although they were tasty. Service was not very good, we appeared to be somewhat invisible to our waitress who gave us our order that simply disappeared and failed to refill beverages."

  • "The food, service and ambience was awesome. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "Great country inn type atmosphere with good food and good service. Have been there before and will definitely go there again. I do consider the Kimberton Inn to be a special occasion type of place."

  • "After waiting at our table for nearly 30 minutes just to order, we left. Our waitress had come to the table no more than 1 minute after we sat, but we had barely looked at the menu. She said she would return in a few moments. She took orders from other tables, but never returned to our table. We asked for her to return, but she did not. This restaurant has a nice interior, impressive menu, and a good wine selection, but the service was so poor that we never ordered food or drinks and went someplace else to eat."

  • "Over the past year or so, we have become regulars. The food is always excellent - and perfectly prepared. Wine list has a wide range of carefully picked, excellent wines at reasonable prices. Service is attentive, and prompt. We love the music on Fridays and Saturdays. The atmosphere is great - if you want a quiet corner, they have it - if you want to be in or near the bar for the music, that's also great. Consistently excellent!"

  • "Our entire wait team, lead by a very experienced waitress were very attentive to us, and the food was excellent."

  • "The once monthly wine dinner at the Inn is superb. The young man who pairs the wines with each course does a stellar job. He is most knowledgeable and shares lots of information before dining. Each course was not only tasty but beautifully presented too. It is a lot of food but served at a leisurely pace and is well worth the price. Thank you."

  • "Our meal was very good and priced accordingly. The service was friendly & prompt. Very nice atmosphere, not noisy with an old charm."

  • "Went to the Kimberton Inn for my wife's birthday. The ambiance was exceptional: romantic, quiet, beautiful (and this was just inside; they do have a nice looking outdoor eating area, it was just too hot to eat outside when we went). The food was solid. While not the most inventive or creative menu, everything we tasted was cooked very well. The wine list, while not exceptional, was solid and had something for everyone. The service was superb--never a dry cup of water, waitress gladly willing to ask chef and bartender questions if she didn't know the answer, etc. At the end of the day, it's not common to find this quality of restaurant in a town like Kimberton (small, a little run down, a little off the beaten path)."

  • "Here for Father's Day. Most of the party liked their food. I had what was billed as "Probably the Best Salad You'll Ever Have" ... not. It was not very large or flavorful for the $26 (with chicken). I would not recommend that particular dish. Those who had crab cakes reported they were very good. All in all I thought it was a bit on the expensive side for the quantity of food provided."

  • "We've eaten at Kimberton Inn twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner with elderly in-laws was very pleasant. We were able to talk easily as it was fairly quiet. All five of us enjoyed our meals. Service was excellent. Father's Day brunch was very relaxing. My husband loved the salmon. We look forward to our next meal at Kimberton Inn."

  • "dined on a Friday night - I think Kimberton was particularly busy b/c of a large party in another room... maitre d ensured we had cocktails in a timely manner... of note, Kimberton replaces cutlery at the table after diners complete a course, rather than parking the used fork, knife somewhere... and another big deal, Kimberton de-crumbs the table... waiting staff is not intrusive, but they are attentive... food was excellent... what UI saw was a well-run, professional restaurant, refined, friendly."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "They got unexpectedly busy, which meant the staff was stretched very thin. When our entree arrived, we asked for another glass of wine, which sadly did not arrive until we had finished."

  • "The spinach salad special was beyond fabulous! I wish there was a dinner portion."

  • "We had our rehearsal dinner 18 years ago at Kimberton Inn. The manager, Jeff Effgin and his staff were a true pleasure to work with and made what could've been a very stressful situation for my mother-in-law who lived out of state a breeze. We celebrate our anniversary every year w. my parents by going to one of the restaurants we went to the week of our wedding. To this day, Kimberton Inn is still at the top of the list. Thank you Jeff and team!"

  • "Nice place for special occasions, prices high for amount of food. Everything is a la carte. Ordered salmon and you just get the piece of fish on the plate sitting on a noodle."

  • "We had a lovely dinner on Sunday evening on the patio. We were the only table on the patio. We had great service. The food was very good. I will definitely be back for dinner again."

  • "Kimberton Inn is one of our favorites. Food and service was great. It's such a historical place with great colonial era atmosphere. While we were eating we questioned ourselves why we hadn't been there more often. We will be back soon."

  • "We really enjoyed our meal, it was wonderful! We brought our neighbors along who really enjoyed it and had only dined there one time prior. The service was good, the meal was amazing and we love the ambiance that The Kimberton Inn provides. A Neighborhood Gem For Sure!"

  • "My wife and I went there for the first time after living in Chester County for 35 years, we have been missing a treat all that time! The food and service was outstanding. The decor is a true early American inn, not a building made to look old. The only issue we had was that my wife is in a wheelchair and the front entrance is up a flight of stairs. They have a side entrance off the cocktail lounge with no step which solved the problem. We will be back again."

  • "Had a wonderful brunch with my mother and niece on Sunday, May 18th. The food was fantastic - just enough, not too much that we were uncomfortable, but enough that we were full and satisfied. The menu had a wide variety of choices so you can enjoy breakfast or lunch or both! The cheese biscuits were a delight and the fresh squeezed orange juice was absolutely delicious! We had a friendly waitress and the service was exceptional. "

  • "The food was very good from salad to entree to dessert. It was also priced more reasonably than expected. My only negatives were that it was quite noisy and also, where our table was situated, the lighting only illuminated half the table, so it was difficult to read the menu. "

  • "Having driven past this place so many times we decided to check it out, what a hidden gem. From upon opening doors you feel right at home, greeted by hostess and was told our party was already in bar. Didn't feel rushed to sit right down was able to enjoy drink at bar and then hostess came to get us when table was available. Knowledgable staff and recommendations for dinner menu. We enjoyed tenderloin tails and the liver which was prepared impeccably. Stuck around for espresso and dessert...creme brûlée and cheesecake with fresh fruit. Felt price paid was worth every cent. We will for sure be back."

  • "This was our 1st time there. What a great restaurant! I would highly recommend to everyone. The food was fantastic, service was excellent. We live about an hour away but that would not stop us from going back. They also have a great little bar.If you want a great experience this is it. "

  • "My husband and I went there to celebrate our Anniversary. It was a very nice place and the serve was good. Our only complaint is that we waited 20 minutes beyond our reservation time. My dinner was delicious, however it would have been better if it were hot and not just luke warm. Overall, it was very nice and we enjoyed ourselves."

  • "We were waited on constantly for water, plate clearing. Our food was served at a good pace. While portions were served smaller, everything we had was wonderful and carefully made. It was so nice to taste authentic crafted food. Even the belgian chocolate ice cream was homemade. I would go again and take friends along. Such a wonderful experience"

  • "After a delightful but long day of touring in the area, Kimburton Inn provided a lovely, relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy an excellent meal and appropriately attentive service. It was well worth the drive from Wilmington."
    Dined on 5/20/2014
  • "Hardly worth it. Too many other good and well run dining venues in area. Very unprofessional greeting and service. Food was ok at best. Add in the private party (wedding reception?) being hosted in separate room with having to enter restaurant through a dense smoke cloud, overly loud music vibrating, etc really detracted. "

  • "Everything was fine except our teenage son's sirloin was too chewy (maybe it was a poorer quality piece) and his creme brûlée was served very cold. Also, had to remind waiter about the cappuccino I ordered which arrived when dessert was almost finished. Liked the atmosphere, dim lighting, and live piano. We had an outstanding water boy as well. It was our first time to the restaurant."

  • "The food is out of this world, service great....wow...what a great time!!"
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Service was great. Because the drinks were a little slow arriving, we were given shrimp cocktails for the table. (Slow because we followed a wedding party) Everything else was delivered in a timely fashion. Noise level was very low...great for conversation. Entire party enjoyed the food. One considered the soft shelled crab appetizer the best ever eaten."

  • "We took my Mom to dinner on Mother's Day. The ambience is lovely there, very charming. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and unobtrusive. Best of all the food was delicious. We weren't rushed and could relax and enjoy our time together in a beautiful setting. It's a bit pricey so we consider it for special occasions."

  • "I took my wife, daughter, and mother-in-law to the Kimberton Inn to celebrate Mother's Day. We've been going to the Kimberton Inn for years and we absolutely love it. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and we love the atmosphere! The owner stopped by to say hello while we were there; he's just a great guy."
