My wife and I had a fantastic meal and watched the most beautiful sunset at our recent visit to Kimball's Kitchen. This was our first visit since they changed over from their previous incarnation ("The left bank" restaurant), and it did not dissapoint! The service was refined, but very friendly. The food was amazing. As someone who not only appreciates great food, but also loves to cook, I could tell the care and attention that went into the preparation of each and every element on the plate. It was nothing short of perfect execution for everything we had. We will be back!

We never dined here when it was the Left Bank because of the dress code. Now, as Kimball's Kitchen and with a resort casual dress code it is a perfect place for a relaxed fine dining experience. The servers are quiet and professional, the setting is beautiful with every table having a lovely view, the wine list is well balanced and the food is very good. Most dishes are served a la carte but the side dishes are served family style which we found annoying, since they tell you that the portion size is enough for sharing, and the prices are double what side dishes would normally cost, but too much if only one person wants it.

Beautiful restaurant. Found it overpriced and food over salted. Eager wait staff; forgot a first course but recommended a delicious glass of wine. Ordered swordfish which was cooked perfectly-not over cooked-but was way too salty. Delicious chocolate creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was a la carte.

This was one of the best dining experiences in recent memory! The entire staff - from sommelier to server - we're attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The menue had a variety of selections, from meat to pasta to seafood and everyone in our party raved about their choices. I cannot say enough about the entire dining experience. It was a memorable meal for our last night in the Outer Banks. As a separate note - we especially appreciated the fact that the hostess who greeted us said she read my comment about this being a special reunion of long-time friends and would seat us at the best table in the restaurant.

From the moment we walked in I felt relaxed, welcome and of course, hungry! There are water views of the sound from every table and we witnessed a beautiful sunset. Our waiter was Billy, who was not only quite attractive but very attentive and friendly. He helped us choose some appetizers entrees. Dining here was quite honestly an experience. We never felt rushed, service was outstanding, yet unobtrusive and the meal was one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Five stars all the way.

Our party was charmed by the sharp decor and beautiful setting. Overall, our food was very good except for the grouper, which was a special for our evening. Unfortunately, it was so salty as to render it inedible. The service was extremely uneven. It took quite a while to have our cocktail/drink orders placed and received. The waitress indicated we could take it slow and just order appetizers and salad initially and then could order the entrees. She indicated bread would come out at this time. However, the bread did not come and, following a long wait, we had to inquire only to be told it had been sitting on the bar for a while. Once the entree order was placed, service from that point on was prompt.

Our first time at Kimball's - the menu is fairly standard surf and turf but very well done and usually with a subtle turn from what you might expect - so it was different. The location is of course spectacular and the staff were great. It's a tad pricey but then you are paying for the location as well as the food. I would rate it just a tad below blue point and red sky for top places in the OBX.

It's not just a change in name - Kimball's Kitchen is a very different experience to dining at the "old" Left Bank. The restaurant is still very beautiful and the views remain the best in Duck. But this is now much less of a fine dining experience than when it was the Left Bank. We dined her twice during our week at the Sanderling. Our first visit was very disappointing - way too noisy, far too many unruly kids - way too much like a super expensive "Happy Meal". Second visit was much better - kids had gone back to school and we went for much more basic fare. Getting right at Kemball's Kitchen is now all about timing and menu choice. Avoid busy school vacations and stick with steak and fries!

My girlfriend and I decided to try Kimball's Kitchen for a romantic, sunset dinner. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated by a window, with a view of the sound. The mesh screens over the window worried us a bit as they detracted from the view. The noise level was a bit loud. Sides are ordered separately and served family style, which was fine as we always share. Our server, Nicole, was friendly and efficient. The swordfish steak was nicely done. The scallops were seared to perfection and still were moist and tender inside. The screens were lifted shortly before sunset, revealing a magnificent scene as the sun sank with vibrant colors. We had the chocolate mocha creme brûlée for dessert and it was divine. We'll definitely be back.

I really liked the vibe and the service at this restaurant. The decor is cool and modern, and the wine list had remarkable prices on first growth wines. The food was forgettable, but the overall experience was fantastic. I had the oysters on the half shell and they tasted super fresh. They were served with what tasted like a straight quality vinegar and diced cucumber. Would have liked a lovely mignonette. My wife had the duck, and didn't eat much of it. My daughter had the Mahi Mahi and didnt finish it, but I had the lobster ravioli, and they were amazing. My wife started with the grilled romaine, and they did it the way you want it to be done, one of the best I have ever had.

This was our second visit to Kimball's Kitchen - we had gone as a couple and now went as a group. Coincidentally had the same server as last year (who was great). This is our favorite restaurant on the outer banks and definitely has the best steaks on the OBX. The only caveat we have is that it's a little bit on the loud side, which doesn't come into play much for a couple but at a larger table made it hard to hear all the way across.

If you came here to vacation and get good steaks from where you live the steak here is nothing special. Great bartender, solid wine list, raw ahi appetizer is awesome and memorable...loved the grilled romaine salad...diver scallops and crab cake were also solid dishes...if you are staying around the Sanderling, also try the more casual Lifesaving station...great food and a diverse menu.

I was very disappointed, after seeing Kimball's high ratings on Trip Advisor. I'm sure the steaks are wonderful, and seafood we ordered was properly cooked, but the menu is like many mediocre restaurants where you have a choice of protein and then pick a sauce (beurre blanc, hollandaise, peppercorn, etc.) There isn't an iota of imagination or creativity in this food, and the menu reads like one from the 50's: steak, potatoes, cheesecake. There no key lime pie, or anything remotely mindful of its southern setting. If this is what Kimball's patrons like, they have a right to it. But if you're a foodie looking for creative and delicious, don't spend your $$ at Kimball's. It's not worth it. But hey, the view is gorgeous!

Kimball's has a beautiful view of the sunset, perfect ambiance, just right menu and great wine selection. We chose this location for our one special night out and now we go every time we are in the Duck area. The food is always perfect and the entire setting allows for a relaxing evening. We recommend taking your time. Arrive a little early to sit at the bar before your meal and enjoy a few cocktails (they are amazing). Definitely do apps (pork belly slider or small lobster ravioli were awesome). Have a great meal and be sure to do a desert (even if you can barely squeeze it in) and of course wine with all of your courses! Disclaimer: tab can be big but I am sure you could also do a reasonable meal here too if you skipped the drinks.

Kimball's Kitchen was a wonderful experience. Our server, Billy, and the manager/sommelier, Matt, made for a fantastic evening. My wife and I both had steaks, she the filet, me the NY Strip. Both were cooked perfectly to our liking and the bacon/vidalia onion "steak sauce" was outstanding. I wanted a wine-by-the-glass and Matt brought me 3 tastings to try. We also loved the chocolate/mocha creme brulee to finish things off. Overall, fully a great experience with a wonderful dinner. Highly recommend for a nice night out in the OBX.

Kimball's Kitchen is in a lovely setting overlooking the Currituck Sound. It is part of the Sanderling Resort. The dining room is a beautiful, graceful curve that follows the shoreline. The views of the sound via the floor-to-ceiling windows are excellent. Every table has a view, and the tables that are back from the window are staggered so that you do not have to stare at other diners while gazing out at the sunset. The food was very good, but not outstanding. My fish dish was excellently prepared. I chose to have it served on a bed of local greens and veggies. The amount of baby lettuce was a bit off-putting, though it did taste good and was delightfully fresh. Skip the hand-cut pasta dish. Sticky, bland and way over-priced.

Second time dining at this restaurant since it reinvented itself. I am local to the area so have lots of alternatives and comparisons and Kimball's would not survive without one-time tourist traffic from the Sanderling Inn and the sound view. Wanted to give it another shot after a mixed experience a year ago, but this will be our last visit. Waited a half hour for our confirmed table, the dining room was smoke filled from faulty exhaust from the kitchen, front door was open so mosquitos were biting. The staff is very nice and friendly, the food is ok, but really overpriced. I had their special for the evening, the grouper, and even with a sauce, very dry. We dine out a lot and price is never a factor, but this is just not worth it.
