Kiki's BistroLovely French restaurantCozy atmosphere, excellent service, excellent dinner; will definitely go back5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointed....Been going since this place opened. Bargain early dining menu. Reasonable wine list. Loyal, long-tenured servers (Abdul was terrific).5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, food, service andAs always, food, service and cocktails were excellent.. We use this for special occasions and Kiki's never disappoints.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were treated in a warmWe were treated in a warm inviting manner upon arrival. It is a cozy room. The service was knowledgable and professional. Two in our party had the duck and loved it. One had the sole and the other a salmon special both cooked to perfection. A long standing gem.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA consistent standard withA consistent standard with an authentic French menu. Best part is being seated by Kiki with his classic red Citroen greeting you at the curb.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMthis is a wonderful placethis is a wonderful place for a leisurely dinner with attentive but not intrusive service. Great place to meet to catch up with old friends where you just want to be able to relax and talk without feeling rushed. Food is very good. Free valet parking in downtown Chicago is a big plus!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale clientele and great FrenchWe loved this place the minute we walked in. The coat check, maitre d', and bartender were very polite and made us feel welcome. We were seated by Kiki himself (as is his wont). The menu was extensive with some nice specials listed. Our waiter was knowledgeable and polite. His suggestion for a Bordeaux started out a bit tart, but opened up nicely. The great part of the place was the older and sophisticated clientele. Older folks looking respectable as opposed to young and "hip". It was a nice change from typical Chicago downtown scenes.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorites timeOne of our favorites time and time again. Excellent overall value.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were only able to get aWe were only able to get a reservation for 6 p.m. on a Saturday night and discovered the “early bird” menu, good until 6:30 PM. We all snickered about how we were nearing the age when these sort of specials will one day appear very appealing. But surprise-surprise, we all ordered from that menu because the choices sounded excellent and were varied enough to appeal to all tastes. Everything was absolutely delicious.
Here’s the other thing about Kiki’s Bistro, at least on a Saturday night: it’s an older crowd, so the noise level is bearable, even with every table full. This seems to be a popular place with regulars and Kiki is a gracious host. Our waiter was also wonderful -- friendly and efficient, never rushing us.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Kiki's right fromWe went to Kiki's right from work and took advantage of the terrific $29.50 three course dinner available from 5:00 - 6:30. We both started with the mussels which were large and succulent and then both had the salmon which was perfectly cooked and served with a very generous portion of pommes frittes drizzled with truffle sauce. (I dare you to leave even one on your plate!) We went our separate ways for dessert. The chocolate mousse was heavenly and husband finished every bite of his lemon tart which he obviously loved. We've ordered off the regular menu on several occassions and absolutely love everything we've had but recommend the "early dinner special" menu for those wanting to try something new at a great price.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMJust an awesome place. MyJust an awesome place. My wife and I visit Chicago two or three times per year and Kiki's is always a stop.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic service, the bestFantastic service, the best we have had in a long time. Excellent food that was fair priced.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a Saturday evening,This was a Saturday evening, and the service was excellent - possibly the best we've had at Kiki's.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experienceExcellent dining experience from the escargot to the entrees of duck and beef short ribs. Our service was equally as impressive.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWE HAVE BEEN EQTING AT KIKI'SWE HAVE BEEN EQTING AT KIKI'S FOR THE BETTER PART OF 15 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL. I GUESS THAT'S WHY WE KEEP GOING BACK!3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThumbs up!Second time at Kiki's for dinner. Great food and ambiance. We were here for a wedding anniversary and it was exactly what we were looking for. Romantic and quaint. For some reason the server had a little bit of an attitude but not to the extent that it had a significant impact on our overall experience. We will definitely be back.2/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe server was absolutelyThe server was absolutely fantastic and gave wonderful wine recommendations. I appreciate that he didn't immediately point out the most expensive bottles, which other server's tend to do and I find it makes guests uncomfortable (as a former server myself). The food was very good - my boyfriend had the best dish by far, the short ribs. I would go back for that dish alone. I got the steak au pouve which was a tad to peppercorned for my taste. Overall, great experience. My parents who came with us loved everything as well. My boyfriend and I will go back and sit at the bar for wine, appetizers and to split the heavenly short ribs!2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good spot, seated withinVery good spot, seated within a few minutes of reservation despite a busy nite, table was near the bar but in the corner which worked out. Service was very good although attention tailed off at the end of the meal. Nice touch with a harp playing in the background. Food was very good, had the veal and it was tasty. Short ribs also were good, not great. I'd go back.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI have loved Kiki's for years!I have loved Kiki's for years! They do it well...they do it right.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMKeep coming back!I've been to Kiki's probably about half a dozen times over the years, and it's pretty solid every time. This time I had the onion soup (delicious) and the salmon entree, which was perfectly cooked. For dessert we split a pear tart and it was wonderful! The service was extremely attentive but not instructive, I think a lot of other restaurants have yet to master that craft. I think there's a reason that this place has survived as long as it has - it's solid, consistently good bistro fare, in a warm and comfortable setting.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find - so glad we tried KikisLoved Kiki's and had a wonderful experience. Went on a Saturday evening in February to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary. My mom loved it, which is really saying something, as she has high standards and can be hard to please. :)
Will definitely go again.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Kiki's was outstanding. The food at Kiki's was outstanding. The ambiance is very romantic and very relaxed. The service was incredible. I travel every week for work and it is very difficult to find great food with great service. Kiki's accomplished both easily.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very pleasant eveningWe had a very pleasant evening there a couple of months ago, so we decided to go back for a special occasion, and again, a very pleasant evening. The service was prompt but not intrusive, the menu enticing, the food chosen was very good. It was great. We look forward to going again with friends.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food and atmosphereFantastic food and atmosphere without any pretentiousness.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been to Kiki's inI hadn't been to Kiki's in a long time. Everything was just as good as I remembered it to be. The cassoulet was fabulous, and the selection of wines by the glass was very nice. Kiki's consistently serves excellent bistro fare.1/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Kiki's severalWe have been to Kiki's several times and have never been disappointed. On our most recent visit our entrees--steak-frites and coq au vin--were generous and delicious. As usual, the service was excellent and the ambience welcoming. The room is conversation-friendly, even on a Saturday night. We like Kiki's all the more for its being slightly off the beaten path. Highly recommended.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food reasonably pricedGreat food reasonably priced but also simple and sophisticated at the same time.
A must if you are in Chicago!1/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a regular at Kiki's andI am a regular at Kiki's and have NEVER had a bad experience. A reasonable corkage fee and always a surprise or two on the menu.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet, Classy, Fantastic Food & SerAbsolutely loved everything about Kiki's. But more than anything I loved the quiet and classy ambiance--relaxed, but not fancy. The service was second to none. I enjoyed our waiter James's sense of humor & attention to detail. Met an elderly friend who has mobility issues, and everyone at Kiki's, including the valet staff, were exceedingly helpful, sensitive and kind.1/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat bistro food but a bitGreat bistro food but a bit too noisy when crowded12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMLovely conversation-friendlyLovely conversation-friendly environment
Live guitar and bass quartet was playing gypsy jazz ala Django Rheinhart the Wednesday evening we were there for our wedding anniversary
The food is very good
James B gives delightful, professional service as well as very good menu advice.
This visit I had the chocolate mousse following his advice and it was excellent.
We enjoy Kiki's Bistro about 3-4 times a year and it is always reliably good with very good service.
I highly recommend Kiki's!12/19/2012 12:00:00 AMcheck your billmy wife and i went to kiki's for our 32nd wedding anniversary. our overall experience was very good...until the bill came. they overchargesd us on a bottle of wine. when we told the server he came back and told us they forgot to update their menu. really? be sure to check you bill before you leave.
