A word from Kiki's Bistro
Kiki's is a French Bistro with regional specialties and has the look and feel of a French country inn.

It has received 3-star reviews from both *The Chicago Tribune* and *The Sun Times*, and now in its eighteenth year, Kiki's Bistro maintains its well-earned reputation of gastronomic excellence and friendly, professional service. A comfortable French country atmosphere attracts an eclectic array of food-lovers, including celebrities, politicians, and acclaimed chefs.

Previous to Kiki's Bistro, Georges "Kiki" Cuisance opened Le Bordeaux at Madison and State in 1969. The restaurant attained a revered status among cosmopolitan Chicagoans, and when "Kiki" moved his kitchen to its current River North digs, his avid following of regulars and Francophiles pursued without hesitation. In an official proclamation the City of Chicago praised Mr. Cuisance for being at the forefront of introducing French cuisine and savoir-vivre to Chicago's developing dining scene.

Diner Reviews
  • "Kiki's has been around a long time (30+ years?) and that says a lot about their food and the service. You can't stay in business for that long if you haven't out how to treat customers and provide them with food they keep coming back for. This is not your latest "hot" restaurant that will be gone in 2 years."

  • "As Kiki puts on a special show for Bastille Day (musicians, balloons...), we were there on that busy night. Overall the food was excellent. We had the Navarin d'agneau (lamb stew) which was very tender and the scallop special which had an extraordinary sauce. Snails were like you would have them in France. The only disappointment was the bacon in the Salade Lyonnaise. They were way overcooked and hard. The desserts were great. Just be aware that the sauce caramel on the "Croustade de Poire" is extremely sweet."

  • "A great restaurant for an intimate experience. Loved it. The live music in the background was perfect, not loud or overbearing. EVERYTHING was first rate. Will definitely return."

  • "Kiki's is always good. The roasted chicken and salmon are my favorites. We take guests for special occasions, and when we want to be able to talk."

  • "My wife and I both enjoy going to Kiki's Bistro, and have dined there for many years. The owner is always there to greet customers, and to make sure things are running smoothly. We enjoy the room, the service, and the wonderful food. Looks like the outdoor seating would be a good choice as well. Great views of The Hancock Building, and the EL rumbles nearby. For us, it's a neighborhood gem for special occasions, as well as a last minute idea, like the other night. The meal was great!"

  • "We have dined here many times over the years and always enjoy it. The food is classic French Bistro. The service is very good and friendly. Particular stand outs are the onion soup and their famous chicken. We also love the profiterole dessert. This night I tried the trout which was just OK......it was a bit overcooked and did not seem fresh. The rest of the meal was quite good as have been previous visits. We will return."

  • "It was the perfect ambience and cuisine I was looking for"

  • "Kiki's used to be the "go to" bistro in town. We dined there this weekend. Sadly, the food looked great but was not up to par. The roast chicken breast portion was overcooked and dry. I would have called this their signature dish previously. Their escargot was lacking in garlic flavor. Fish was good. Pomme Frittes were delicious. Doubtful if we will return."

  • "Eating at KiKi's is relaxed and comfortable. No surprises, just good food in a pleasant, homey atmosphere."

  • "This restaurant reminds me of the old style places that have a compact menu with everything being top notch. I had Duck two ways and my wife had rack of lamb, both simply done but delicious. Great service, just the right level of interaction with recommendations when asked for and lots of quiet time to enjoy the food and the company. Pity you cannot give 4 1/2 stars in this system because 4 undersells the overall experience."

  • "Kiki's is a very traditional French Bistro. The food is good although not gourmet. I think with a little tweaking it could be a great restaurant. I know it's been there for a long time and doesn't need to change to please their customers but I just feel it could use a little updating."

  • "I had heard my friends rave about Kiki's and everything they said was true. The steak had a buttery texture that melted in my mouth. The frites were crispy, but not greasy and set off the steak nicely. The wine was perfectly paired. Plus, the live music and great service was a plus!"

  • "Kiki's is definitely the way to go when looking for a true bistro. The food is rustic-refined without being fussy; the service is unhurried and gracious; and the wine list is wonderful."

  • "You can't beat Kiki's. It's been a special Chicago spot for French food for years. Menu is good. Service is perfect-- starting with smiling Denise greating many diners by name! Desserts are worth the visit by themselves. Have the profiteroles, chocolate mousse cake, or apple tarte- hot with cold ice cream. For dinner, the chicken, salmon, or steak frites-- all great. You must try also the homemade pâté ( two kinds). Very authentic country French bistro in River North. I do not own the place, have no special interest there-- have only spent many nights enjoying Kiki's. Hope you enjoy! "

  • "The place is cute and has a homey ambience. It's is upscale but warm, a hard mix to achieve. You're bound to be greates by the chef during your time there, which is fun. However, the food was spotty. The lamb was good, but the fish was dry."

  • "This was our first visit to KiKi's. This is a classic French restaurant, the food was always presented hot and also all parties wet served at the same time. No fusion stuff here, rather very well prepared classic French fare. We had escargots for appetizer--very good. The salad portions were generous without being too large. I had the scallops and my wife the lamb chops, both expertly prepared. We shared the creme carmel for dessert. Would revisit again!"

  • "We love the ambiance and enjoyed an excellent steak poivre and crepes Suzette. The room was loud, but overall we like this bistro. Skip the endive apple salad and frogs leg starters. Seated immediately which was nice. "

  • "We were celebrating my husband's birthday. We really liked the setting, staff's knowledge and service, as well as the chance to meet and chat with Kiki for a few moments. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. My husband's birthday was nicely acknowledged. We are looking forward to a return visit. We definitely felt we like were visiting France, and dining in a French Bistro. "

  • "Took my husband to Kiki's for his birthday and it didn't disappoint. From the valet to the waiter everyone was out to make our night special. Food was top notch. From the traditional to the menu specials. Highly recommend it for your special occasion or for dinner if you're in the mood for French. "

  • "Kiki's is always a dependable choice for a nice casual bisto meal. The food quality may have slipped a bit over the years, and the wine list is limited, but service is amiable and the surroundings are pleasant."

  • "We went to Kikis on a Saturday night to celebrate my husband's retirement. Everything from the chicken to beef to fish entres were fabulous. Almost all at our table had the French onion soup which was raved about-- best they ever had, not to salty etc. Service was prompt and attentive, the only issue being that the credit card system went down and we had to wait for our bill for quite a long time. The atmosphere was lovely and although crowded there was no problem with hearing discussions at our table of 8. We would definitely return to KIki's"

  • "Everything about Kiki's--from Kiki himself greeting you at the door to the quality of the great bistro dishes--is excellent. It has been open and full for years for that reason. Kiki's is a destination restaurant, and it is always worth the trip."

  • "This was my second time at Kiki's and it was even more delicious than my first time there. I went there with my family for my birthday dinner and we ordered a few appetizers, including the frog legs, and everything was delicious! I tried a bite of everyone's entree as well and they were all amazing. Also, i have to specifically talk about the dessert i ordered: the Tarte aux Pommes...it was pure perfection. The apple tart was perfectly flaky and crispy with a hint of doughiness, covered in a warm caramel sauce and topped with a scoop of ice cream. It is literally one of the most amazing things i have EVER eaten. I will be back!!!"

Our servers, from the wine steward to the waiters were pleasant, informative and of course the food was delicious. Glad to see patrons of all ages enjoying themselves. Kiki, personally, and the restaurant, never disappoints."
