The restaurant seemed disorganized. We waited ten minutes before we were acknowledged. Our server was inattentive and made mistakes on our order. With so many other choices, I think we will give this place a pass next time. Having said that, the food was very good, so there is still hope.

We ordered beef maki-roll, prawn tempura, chicken teriyaki and the filet mignon. Everything tasted excellent. The only not so perfect part was how long main dishes took to come out! We just sat there for halfen hour after finishing appetizers looking around at other tables and the decor. But when they finally came out they were delicious! I'd definitely go back sometime.

    Dined on 9/2/2012
We were visiting Vancouver and had one night left to try out a restaurant. We read favorable reviews of Ki and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is very tastefully done in a modern style that complimented the food and presentation. We were very impressed with the wait staff and the quality of the sushi was excellent. The staff were very welcoming of our 9 yr old son and he was duly impressed by the kids menu and deserts. We had dinner a little on the early side (5:15pm) so not a lot was going on in the resturant, but we had a fabulous dining experience all the same. If the weather is favorable, I would suggest trying their outside dining areas. Leave room for desert. The pear/almond cake was delicious.

Unfortunately, I had the wrong waiter... so this time, my experience at Ki was not as memorable as when the wonderful Marguerite was taking care of me... Although I specifically asked to eat my dishes ONE AFTER THE OTHER ONE, the waiter kept bringing me the dishes all together, HELLO!!! He just did not listen, was just smiling all the time and did not check my table very often either. Very bad service for this magnificent place! I will go back and I will make sure to request Marguerite as my server!!!

Food was very good, Halibut fish was spectacular! Billed a's a sort of Japanese Tapas restaurant, dishes for sharing. Serving sizes vary greatly from dish to dish- so although some would let 4 sample, others were more appropriate for 2. For 5 of us we ended up ordering 12 dishes (maybe 14). At $12 and up per dish it was a very pricey meal. Best sushi in Vancouver- no, lovely atmosphere, great deck, service very good. Great place for a date and a relaxed meal- will I rush back to have sushi there? No- if I want to spend big dollars on Japanese food I will go to Tojo's. And for just good sushi there are dozens of places I will go first.

Wonderful oasis in the centre of it all...You can't beat the location, although downtown parking can be hard to find. Chef Yoshi (from Shijo/Blue Water Cafe) prepares the most amazing Japanese creations...Prices are a little on the high side, but great value for money and cheaper than Tojo's (and more creative!). Must have the Toro Tempura Roll...it is to die for...

A great find up the stairs on Alberni Street is the Ki restaurant. Pleasing decor and a warm welcome set a positive tone for my lunch experience. Reading through the menu was a delightfully surprising in the way traditional Japanese cuisine was fused with a modern and very inventive touch. Of particularly note was the avocado and pineapple roll that used thinly sliced cucumber in lieu of the usual nori. As inspired as it was delicious. Attentive service complemented our luncheon experience. Highly recommended

The food and staff are excellent - the Vancouver location has a great kitchen and excellent sushi master at the helm (hopefully it rubs off on their Toronto location). Its a great looking spot with a lovely patio, but it is unfortunately not very busy, whereas Ki in Toronto is usually very busy, especially on Thursdays. Hope it catches on in Vancouver!!

First time dining at this restaurant. Very accommodating staff. It was my daughter's birthday and they brought out a surprise birthday cookie and truffles without having to prompt them to do anything. Fusion type Japanese fare - very good! Great outdoor dining surrounded by live tall bamboo - AWESOME! The bamboo masks the traffic noise and makes you feel so relaxed. Great service from our waiter!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 5/18/2012
The restaurant is really nice and decor is great however I found the food mediocre for the price. The sushi had a fishy taste and did not seem really fresh. If you are looking for a high end sushi place I would recommend Tojo's or Miku over Ki. Octopus Garden also has much better food (although Octopus Garden has a tiny seating capacity and much more casual atmosphere). We ordered the Toro Tower because the reviews on Open Table described it as "melt in your mounth". I did not find this to be the case at all. The Black Cod was the only dish I thought was not bad but certainly not as good as Miku or Tojo's. I think Ki might be a good place to go for cocktails and snacks however it is definitely not fit for foodies.

The best sushi on the West Coast. Yoshi Tabo is clearly the hands down winner. Tojo is very good - his persona adds to his "reputation" amonsgt the "non-Japanese locals" but those that really know the culinary art or preparation and presetnation of the true taste of sushi know that Tabo is the Master with no peers.
