A word from KHONG River House
The Mekong River, or Khong, as it is referred to by locals, has long served as the central form of connectivity from the Tibetan Plateau down through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It brings together the people and their varying cultures while its banks and valleys create one of the world’s most biodiverse and fertile areas. This melding of disparate tastes, ingredients, and techniques has resulted in the bold, complex harmony that is the hallmark of authentic Southeast Asian cuisine.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Not as good as last visit, same great room, service always was good not great, but this time is food seemed to be lacking."

  • "Used to love coming here for all the eclectic wines and now it like going to the grocery store for wine. And some of the markups are 6-7 times what the bottle is at cost... Poor managing of the program. The floor manager was scene more focused dancing near the bar and high fiving other saff members then actually ensuring any guest satisfaction. One of our 2 appetizers came after our entree arrived. This used to be a local gem and has now become another generic offering near Lincoln avenue."

  • "I suspect one's experience at KRH can be extremely variable as it seems dependent on service and food selections. Our server was not particularly helpful, knowledgeable, interested, or attentive. The food was good, but not worthy of the accolades we'd read. The decor was cool and fun, but the restaurant was loud. Sitting adjacent to the phone was an extra challenge to my conversation - despite our advance reservations. For conversation you should ask to sit toward the rear (rest rooms!). It was also disappointing that the chef was not offering summer rolls that evening :(. The Masaman curry was very good. An interesting experience, but not spectacular."

  • "they keep making the food stronger ion flavor too much lemongrass in everything restaurant was pretty empty they should tho back to the original menu"

  • "Khong delivers. The menu is short but it has some very special seafood dishes as well duck, etc. The best is the food which combines mainly Vietnese and Thai specialties. Three appetizers and three main courses and 5 out of 6 I will qualify as excellent. The place is very nicely decorated and the service was very good. For the price of about $50 a piece including a mid-priced wine, it far exceeded my expectations."

  • "I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! Everything from our outstanding waiter (Justin) to the simple yet creative menu was outstanding! Our Thai spare ribs were delicious as was the Prawn Pad Thai.....I also loved the rotisserie chicken salad.....a big hit with my friends! I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back."

  • "Service was terrible. We had to ask the manager to get our waitress several times and she was just talking in a corner of the restaurant. Most of the dishes were poor. Several dishes were inedible. I've never written a review before but the food and service were so poor, I felt I had to warn other other prospective diners."

  • "KHONG was awesome - great food, amazing cocktails, fun atmosphere. Would highly recommend this as well as the other 50 egg restaurants - Swine in Coral Gables and Yardbird in SoBe."

  • "We arrived late for our reservation (made on OpenTable) but were seated quickly. The food was great and could be very spicy if you want (we are spice people). Some great flavors, good mix of appetizers, main course, noodles, etc. Service was very attentive, very nice upbeat crowd, good shopping right outside the door. We were thrilled with the experience and would return again."

  • "The crispy duck and pad thai were wonderful. The noise level was obnoxious! We loved the decor and the service was good, but they would not turn down the music. Why every place in Miami has to act like a night club is beyond me especially at 6:30PM."

  • "The Massamam Short Rib Curry was absolutely outstanding. A must get."

  • "Really vibrant Thai cuisine. We loved the presentation and flavors of the salt-crusted whole branzino and the sweet and spicy Thai pork ribs. The ribs came with this amazing spicy red sauce that we wished we could buy by the bottle! Also enjoyed the Thai vegetarian salad we had which included grilled oyster mushrooms, sprouts, taro, corn and spicy lemongrass dressing. I want to come back immediately and try the curries and the jungle stew. They have some nice gin tonics too, with house-infused tonics. I liked the hibiscus best. Service was average and the ambiance isn't anything special, but the food was outstanding."

  • "Had a lovely meal here - Yellow Vegetable Curry. Great flavours, possibly the best I have ever eaten. My Husband chose Beef Massaman Curry which was also flavourful. I chose panna cotta for dessert which was more like a mousse but lovely and tasty never the less. Staff are so efficient and friendly. Lovely decor & restaurant with a good atmosphere. I would most definitely recommend this place without hesitation"

  • "I had read mixed reviews on this place so was a little skeptical going in. Our server was great, came up with some good recs. the food turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Curry was excellent and our steak was incredible. Would definitely recommend this place."

  • "Food was very good. Service was good, but our orders were mixed up, we chuckled about it later. Thanks for the experience."

  • "Noise level makes impossible to talk. The food impossibly full of chillies. Except for the chicken curry and the short ribs, the food was not up to par. The duck curry was mostly bones. It took nearly twenty minutes to bring a bottle of wine."

  • "Great flavors. Super Pacific Rim fusion of cuisines and styles."

  • "For a real change of pace in South Beach, Khong has been great the 3 times I've been there this year (that's a good sign of a recommendation!). This time we tried the Beef Jerky, the salt encrusted fish, prawns, and crab fried rice. All were excellent and each had a very distinct flavor. My only knock on Khong is the service can be a little aloof, and could guide you better through a menu with a lot of unique items."

  • "The food wasn't as good as we expected it to be and did not resemble authentic Thai food. The ambiance and bar are nice but everyone at my table was disappointed with their dishes."

  • "My husband and I tried this restaurant out while on vacation in Miami. Amazing Thai food. Well-plated, good ingredients. Some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Staff was nice but food was terrible. We even asked if the chef was off this evening and were given an evasive answer. Later read the well known chef left six months ago. Maybe that explains why "crispy duck" was a soggy stew and nothing else was memorable. We left hungry because the 4 of us didn't eat much of what we ordered."

  • "We were looking to close out our getaway weekend this past Sunday and chose my favorite Khong's for lunch. The mushrooms and fried rice was great. So was my husbands Massaman Shortrib Curry. But my main reason for going was my craving for a grilled tofu BanhMi sandwich. My sandwich took forever and the waitress even wondered why it was taking so long since my husband had to proceed and eat without me. It arrived and it wasn't the sandwich I've had before or the one you picture in your Instagram! The tofu was cold not grilled, no sprouts of any kind, no crushed peanuts. It was simply cold tofu with a few pieces of veggies! Gross I never ever send my food back but I told the waitress to take it back and ask the chef to eat it himself."

  • "I was in Miami on vacation and went to Khong River House based on reviews I read online. I loved this restaurant. The food was excellent, creative, and full of flavor. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant. I wish I lived closer because I would be there all the time."

  • "TOO LOUD!!! and what's up with the emphasis on sous vide cooking? It resulted in rather insipid texture and taste the night our group tried this restaurant."

  • "I have never had better Pad SeeYew in my life. A really great restaurant. The menu was a little limited, but they did offer food that was flavorful and not bland."

  • "This was my second time here and it did not disappoint. Tried some different dishes and the food was excellent. Our server Jason was attentive and helpful."

  • "The only negative was the wine selection by the bottle, which was limited."

  • "Ordered the popular whole shrimp that was priced at $30. The shrimp were beautiful whole large shrimp. Unfortunately they were over cooked, making them taste dry and chewy. When waitress cleared our plates and asked how the meal was we told her. No comment from her. I don't think they really cared what we thought."

  • "Fun, energetic and fantastic Asian cuisine. My bf and I made reservations for valentines day, we thought we were going to wait a very long time thinking about what day it was. But everything was the complete opposite. We waited at the most 10 mins for a table, as soon as we sat down our waiter came to help us. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful. Once our food came out we were so surprised of how good it was considering how busy they were. Plain n simple..... Busy means nothing for these guys, they have great tasteful and amazing food!! Definitely we will be going back!!"

  • "I guess all the hype should have dissuaded me, but this is not a Thai restaurant. Like chop suey is to Chinese. . ."

  • "Much too salty. The curry was excellent but not the Pad Thai. I advised the waitress."

  • "All four of us loved the food but the sound track is so loud you have to shout to be heard. When the music was turned off for a minute it was glorious! Only go if you don't want to talk to your companions. It is a shame because both the inventive martinis and the food were fantastic."

  • "We googled top places in Miami for brunch. Khong came up as one of the best brunches with the menu for brunch. So we decided to try the very interesting menu. Upon arrival for brunch at 12 noon last Sunday, we found that they no longer offer brunch so all the interesting dishes we had seen on line were not available. We were major disappointed. The hostess told us they had not served brunch for a year but we found the recommendation on line. Then they were out of bloody mary mix. For a bar to be out of bloody mary mix is inexcusable for Sunday service. We were given 3 different reasons by 3 different people. Our party was very disappointed again. What we ordered was very good, however. We enjoyed our choices of food."

  • "I ranked this very high on my list of places...would go again for sure but it is simply not my balliwick for food choices. Glad I went to try something new and would go again very cool place. Waiters do an amazing job explaining the dishes to help understand them for 1st timers."

  • "Khong River House has a number of delicious dishes from Thailand and its neighbors. The food was outstanding with vibrant tastes. You will find dishes here that are not on the menu of a typical Thai restaurant. Service was attentive, but not intrusive and the wine selections were excellent. They gladly made changes to menu items to accommodate allergies, etc."
