Worth the drive to the Beach.Great, unique menu items, plus the Thai Fried Chicken special was outrageous! Every bite of every dish was lively, fresh and tasty. I loved the Char Grilled Thai Eggplant. The bar menu with their gin selections will take years to explore. Gin really goes nicely with their Northern Thai menu. The food was awesome. We ordered the tasting menu so we could try a bit of everything and we were not disappointed. We had so much left that we had a huge lunch the next day. The only complaint...if there was one, we had to ask our waiter to have the chef ease up on the hot chilis a bit...but otherwise the food was so tasty! The only thing better than the food was the service...even the bus boy was engaging and friendly...the waiter was awesome- explaining everything and being very attentive but not intrusive. Having traveled to Northern Thailand and Vietnam I can honestly say the food at Khong River was an amazing representation of both of these areas. Not your typical Thai food et. al. Pad Thai and other average Thai dishes. These were rather an amazing ode to the food of the north. All of the food was delicious, came out quickly and with friendly service! My table ordered several dishes and shared everything. I recommend doing this if you are a foodie like myself. Portions were generous and unlike the last comment I read, I think the food was extremely reasonably priced. I ended up spending 75 dollars for my girlfriend and I and we even had a couple drinks each.

The wait staff was on point and the ambiance was very energetic and the design was well done. It was a nice departure from your typical thai restaurant. I am a red thai curry addict and trust me when I tell you it was the most amazing and delicate red thai curry I've ever had. I will have that exact dish again. The bartender made a great cocktail. The only downside of this experience was the wine list. Now, there is a chance that they were sourcing just for things that married to Thai food, however, when drinking them stand alone, not good. BUT having said that the cocktails are monster. So, skip the wine but don't skip the experience. You can't fail with anything ordered. The only issue my husband and I had was service was too fast. If you don't want to be in and out of the restaurant in 45 minutes, ask the server to not give your main dishes to the kitchen until you're ready. Service staff is friendly and management aims to please. One of the best Asian fusion experiences I have ever had....large bar menu, generous portions, reasonable prices and innovative food choices. My favorite was the the coconut sesame pancakes. These things were huge. Seriously, a single person can not eat them and I have been known to throw down some food. They make the batter with yeast, so it is extra fluffy, and the sesame seeds give them this awesome nutty flavor. One look at the menu and I knew I wanted to give it a try. I've lived and traveled extensively in Asia. My experience with Asian restaurants in the US has not been very positive. They tend to cater to American tastes which tend to the bland side.. Not so Kong. While the heat is "turned down a bit" it's not absent. We tried the "Sampler" so we got to experience eight of Kong's dishes in one seating... I highly recommend doing this.. It's worth the price... Thu, our outstanding server, helped guide us through the selection process to get the best possible sample of what the restaurant has to offer.. The decor is unique. The scene is busy but not loud. We had a mediocre waiter but that seemed to be just our waiter. The other waiters in the area seemed to be providing great service. The service is flawless and friendly and they have a ridiculous selection of gin (where else can you get Boodles in this town?). Oh yeah, and they have 43 different types of Negronis. The food certainly does not disappoint: the pork buns were ridiculously good with soft bun complimenting the crispy pork and the pickled goodness.
