The ambiance was wonderful and our waiter absolutely outstanding. If there was a way to give him more than the 5 stars, I would. The NY strip steak was a great choice and the location is excellent if you are attending a show at the DCPA.

Our service was spotty, at best. It took way longer than necessary for us to be greeted and given water and asked about drinks. Then I had to remind the waiter that we hadn't been served bread. The only thing they were "Johnny on the spot" with was the check.

I dined with a friend before the opera. We are older and generally prefer smaller portions. We both ordered the Maine Lobster Salad appetizer. The dish was almost tasteless and the lobster was like rubber. The service was good, but that is about all. The food needs a lot of work.

If you have a special evening planned at DCPA, this is a great place to start. The restaurant has fun art pieces, and showcases some costumes from notable plays. It is quiet, unfortunately, no booths, but the tables are not on top of each other, so you feel semi-private. The menu has a fun selection of starters, some salads, seafood and just a few beef dinners. I had the duck pâté and bass for dinner and my husband had the steak- both were delicious with seasonal sides. They have a super deal- $45 for starter, entrée and dessert- Get there by 5:45 if your show is at 7:30, we were almost late, even though they knew we were going to the show- so pay your bill by 7pm. The fresh bread is delicious!

The house breads were very good. The foie gras appetizer was tasty upon first bite but quickly became too much, the pairings on the plate were off. The pork belly was great. The steak and sausage was just okay, the sausage was very gamey and kind of overwhelming, the steak tasted decent but was ordered rare and was tough. The potato pumpkin side dish was alright but not overly notable. My lobster was shelled, overcooked, and tough, tasted just okay. The sides consisted of an oatmeal looking rice/risotto kind of paste that was lemony and a little offputting. The carrots were every carrot you've ever had. The Swiss roll was decent, just decent, the ice cream kind of side was awful, tasted like bacon/salty mess. I was not happy with cost.

Enjoyed a flawless pre-show dinner with great by the glass wines, appetizers and entrée. This is most notable because I have severe food allergies to gluten, corn, and dairy. Finding a restaurant that accommodates those issues with a smile and understanding is unusual. Add in doing so while dishing up great savory food and it makes for a rare pleasure. Don't miss the lamb loin and cassoulet this winter. Proximity, ambiance, and safe delicious food...go, and go often!

We were going to the theater, so we selected the 3-course Prix-fix Pre-Theater menu for $45/pp. That menu has a wide selection for each course. We had the foie gras which melts in your mouth, the tuna and halibut were perfect and oh so good. For dessert we had the chocolate peanut butter bar. Great food, great service and so convenient to the theaters. You can't go wrong!

The food and ambience were wonderful and even beyond that we were really impressed with outstanding service. Our waiter, Daniel, was very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. We were also very impressed at overhearing how he respectfully dealt with a very difficult party at a nearby table. We definitely plan to dine there again.

We dined here during restaurant week and are so happy we chose this restaurant. The dining room is just outside the doors to the Opera House and is very tastefully decorated. The service was impeccable -- very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food was just outstanding. Although we liked some courses better than others, all were delicious and executed wonderfully. For $30/person for the 3 courses, it was a great value. Not sure of their regular prices but I suspect they would be much, much more. Our only "complaint" was that it was a bit chilly in the restaurant. Even with a sweater, it was somewhat uncomfortable.

I just so happened to have a gift certificate and it happened to be restaurant week near our anniversary so we chose Kevin Taylor's At the Opera House. Service was great. The servers were knowledgeable. Water glasses were kept full and we were even given the option for more bread. We chose the wine pairing with our meal and the selections were spot on for the respective courses we chose. There was plenty of food which was cooked perfectly with a great balance of flavors. I had the beef and my boyfriend had pork. We were both very pleased with our choices. Wine seems the be the preferred drink here and their selection is great.

My girlfriend and I had the perfect pre-theatre meal here. Perhaps this restaurant has had some ups and downs, but our experience was top-notch. Every item on both our plates was outstanding--I had the haddock and she had the lamb. I ran late due to traffic, and the staff still made us feel special. Based on our experience, I would absolutely choose Kevin Taylor at the Opera House again, especially for pre-theatre dining.

Can count on excellent food and can trust the house liquors. We arrived 1.5 hours before the opera and didn't have desert because we didn't get attention from the server in time. Under staffed? Entrée was excellent, but to feel full, need to also have appetizer and/or dessert.

The reviews I read here before our Feb. 2014 visit were inconsistent, but everyone in our party had wonderful appetizers, entrees, and desserts in a quiet setting with great service. In May 2014, things were a bit more uneven, both in food and in service. Two of our appetizers were excellent, but the ahi was very overcooked and dried out. When the wine we ordered to go with our entrees didn't go with our apps, we ordered some by the glass, but this took 10 minutes to arrive. Our entrees were served while I was away from the table. The lamb and beef entrees were delicious, but the pork belly was 2/3 fat, and the pork loin was tender but dry. I'm sure we'll visit again (it's SO convenient to the DCPA), but less enthusiastically so.

I love seared Foie Gras, so I called ahead to Kevin Tayors to asked about the foie gras on the menu. The hostess who answered the phone told me I needed to address specific questions about food to the chef and let me speak to Chef Drew. Although seared foie gras was not not on the menu Chef Drew assured me if I booked through OpenTable and added a note requesting seared foie gras he would have the ingredients and prepare it for us. It was truly fabulous, the foie gras literally melted in our mouths with a perfect sear adding a touch of spice accenting the delicate flavor of the liver. Chef Drew is a master with cuisine as well as a gentleman. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who desires an exceptional dining experience..

We were greeted at the front door and directed to the host. It was down a wide winding staircase to the dinning room. The place was open, quiet and well decorated. It felt like a special romantic location. Our waiter came immediately to our table and provided water, bread and asked if we wanted drinks. The meal was appetizer of squash soup (very good) with entrees of salmon and NY strip steak. Our server needed more practice with the menu and vegetables of the day. Food was served quickly, was hot and very tasty. We said we would come back and enjoy our little slice of underground delight.

I chose Kevin Taylor's at the Opera to celebrate a birthday before attending a performance of Rigoletto for several reasons: the location (of course), the ambience, the food and because we had never eaten there before. We were not disappointed; Kevin Taylor's is definitely THE place to eat before any performance at the opera house.

Food was dissppointing this time. Waited almost 30 minutes between finishing salads before main course appeared and that only happened after asking if they had forgotten our order. Meat dish was served lukewarm but time was getting tight so did not send it back. Server was hard to find and other servers actually brought food and asked about beverage refills. Not sure if they have changed kitchen staff but this was a mediocre meal.

Excellent food and ambience in the Denver Performing Arts venue. As part of the Restaurant Week promotion, we sampled salmon, pork tenderloin, and beef tenderloin, along with salads and desserts. The meats and fish were high quality and perfectly prepared, as were the side dishes. We certainly intend to come back soon, and told our daughter an son-in-law about the great meal we had! Dined here for restaurant week and it was overall a great experience. What saved me from giving 5 stars was that it took the bar almost 10 minutes to get our drinks out, and the drink itself was very sugary and not worth the long wait. Next time, instead of a cocktail I will just stick with wine. My only other "complaint" was, I had the amberjack for an appetizer and the flavor pairing seemed to make the fish taste more fishy. This of course may just be a palette choice, and other people may find this to be delicious. Everything else was outstanding. Very romantic Ambience, would be a great date spot!
