Located in the Chambers Grant Salon in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House serves pre-theater cocktails and dinner on evenings with performances in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Buell Theater and/or Boettcher Concert Hall.

Also, for private events, Kevin Taylor Catering serves all of the unique spaces within the Opera House. These include the new, sophisticated, exposed-brick 8,000 sq. ft. Studio Loft space, as well as the Chambers-Grant Salon, an extraordinary 11,600 sq. ft. space featuring twinkling fiber optic ceilings, exposed stone walls, full stage and luxurious finishes.

  • "My girlfriend and I had the perfect pre-theatre meal here. Perhaps this restaurant has had some ups and downs, but our experience was top-notch. Every item on both our plates was outstanding--I had the haddock and she had the lamb. I ran late due to traffic, and the staff still made us feel special. Based on our experience, I would absolutely choose Kevin Taylor at the Opera House again, especially for pre-theatre dining. "

  • "The reviews I read here before our Feb. 2014 visit were inconsistent, but everyone in our party had wonderful appetizers, entrees, and desserts in a quiet setting with great service. In May 2014, things were a bit more uneven, both in food and in service. Two of our appetizers were excellent, but the ahi was very overcooked and dried out. When the wine we ordered to go with our entrees didn't go with our apps, we ordered some by the glass, but this took 10 minutes to arrive. Our entrees were served while I was away from the table. The lamb and beef entrees were delicious, but the pork belly was 2/3 fat, and the pork loin was tender but dry. I'm sure we'll visit again (it's SO convenient to the DCPA), but less enthusiastically so."

  • "We had long talked about having dinner here before a DCPA performance, but Feb. 2014 was our first opportunity to do so. We dined with another couple and had a delightful evening. The setting is glamorous and beautiful. The restaurant was not very busy, so conversation was easy. None of us had a single complaint about any of our appetizers, entrees, or deserts. Our service and food were uniformly excellent. Best of all, we were able to linger over dessert until five minutes before the show and still get to our seats in time!"

  • "I love seared Foie Gras, so I called ahead to Kevin Tayors to asked about the foie gras on the menu. The hostess who answered the phone told me I needed to address specific questions about food to the chef and let me speak to Chef Drew. Although seared foie gras was not not on the menu Chef Drew assured me if I booked through OpenTable and added a note requesting seared foie gras he would have the ingredients and prepare it for us. It was truly fabulous, the foie gras literally melted in our mouths with a perfect sear adding a touch of spice accenting the delicate flavor of the liver. Chef Drew is a master with cuisine as well as a gentleman. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who desires an exceptional dining experience.."

  • "We were greeted at the front door and directed to the host. It was down a wide winding staircase to the dinning room. The place was open, quiet and well decorated. It felt like a special romantic location. Our waiter came immediately to our table and provided water, bread and asked if we wanted drinks. The meal was appetizer of squash soup (very good) with entrees of salmon and NY strip steak. Our server needed more practice with the menu and vegetables of the day. Food was served quickly, was hot and very tasty. We said we would come back and enjoy our little slice of underground delight."

  • "Food was dissppointing this time. Waited almost 30 minutes between finishing salads before main course appeared and that only happened after asking if they had forgotten our order. Meat dish was served lukewarm but time was getting tight so did not send it back. Server was hard to find and other servers actually brought food and asked about beverage refills. Not sure if they have changed kitchen staff but this was a mediocre meal."

As part of the Restaurant Week promotion, we sampled salmon, pork tenderloin, and beef tenderloin, along with salads and desserts. The meats and fish were high quality and perfectly prepared, as were the side dishes. We certainly intend to come back soon, and told our daughter an son-in-law about the great meal we had! They will be with us next time."

  • "Dined here for restaurant week and it was overall a great experience. What saved me from giving 5 stars was that it took the bar almost 10 minutes to get our drinks out, and the drink itself was very sugary and not worth the long wait. Next time, instead of a cocktail I will just stick with wine. My only other "complaint" was, I had the amberjack for an appetizer and the flavor pairing seemed to make the fish taste more fishy. This of course may just be a palette choice, and other people may find this to be delicious. Everything else was outstanding. Very romantic Ambience, would be a great date spot!"

  • "We came for Valentines Day prior to the Symphony. The service, ambiance and chef's gift of a cold gazpacho shooter were all top notch. The food however was terrible. The lobster was mushy, side dish veggies were way over cooked and lacked taste, and the seared tuna appetizer was the worst we have ever had. We are not food snobs. We go to a wide variety of establishments from Gunther Toodys to Flagstaff House. This was so overpriced for the worst meal we have ever had at this caliber of restaurant. I never leave reviews but this meal was so terrible, I felt I needed to warn others who might be drawn to the reputation."

  • "Kevin Taylor's is a very elegant restaurant and is clearly targeted at the upper class theatre goers. That being said, the food was good, but definitely not worth the price that the restaurant charges. The service and ambiance was fantastic, but I think you could get the same experience at other less expensive places. However, the location is great for people who are about to see a show at the Ellie or the Buell."

  • "I made reservations for dinner prior to seeing the ballet. We arrived around 6:10, expecting we could enjoy a nice meal in an hour. We ordered the soup & lobster salad to start. The salad was bitter, the lobster tough, & there were pieces of shell. By 7:00 we hadn't received our entrees & got anxious. They finally came out & were good, but not 5 star restaurant quality. I had to request the bill and ask the serving assistant to take the payment. For a $100 meal, my daughter & I were disappointed and did not feel very special. Not only will I not fine there again, I would advise against anyone who has plans for the theatre to dine at Kevin Taylor's. We dine out a lot & it has been a long time since I was disappointed enough to not tip 20%!"

  • "We went as a group (two couples) to see a play on 12/21/13 at the Buell. We had dinner at Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House. Extremely convenient. Fabulous service. We shared a bottle of wine, did not have appetizers, we did have dessert - and the bill was about $200. The food was great - limited menu. One beef dish, several fish (including seafood), lamb. Would I go again? Yes!"

  • "Everything our party ordered was well prepared but our party of 6 ordered every entree they offered. Very limited menu and be careful, they change the menu each season and the one that was linked to Open Table was an old one so our picky eater could not find an entree. They did however offer her something that they offered the children which met her needs. Great for a special night downtown but not for diners who have limited tastes."

  • "Kevin Taylor's space is HUGE and the dining area is a small carpeted area up in the corner... feels like you're on a "set" for a Candid Camera show, in a fake restaurant. From the stale bagged rolls served before dinner, to the 4 items offered on the desert menu (and everything in between) the experience was very disappointing. Servers were nice ~ but not what you'd expect for a $150 dinner for 3 (including tip), with no drinks or dessert. (the desert menu is 4 items and about 100 desert cocktails... strange) There are about 20 restaurants within a few blocks that are twice the food, twice the service, and some half the cost, and most of all they feel like a restaurant ~ people, vibe, energy."

  • "Food is great at this place, and surroundings are quite nice, but service extremely slow. We wern't allowed to order a salad without also ordering our main course. What's up with that? We asked for pepper, but it never was delivered. Waitress was not attentive. I spent $130 dollars, and it was not worth it. Bad experience."

  • "Lessons learned - first that is hardly worth the fight with traffic to get to DCPA for performances. We called to let restaurant know we were caught in traffic and they said no problem - very appreciated. Arrived hour before show and hostess said they would be rigiht over to take order. Twenty-five minutes later the waitier took our food order. We had to ask for a bread basket well after drinks were delivered. Two orders arrived at 7:15; two others at 7:20. The service was the worst I have ever experienced in over 40 years in Denver. They did not walk the talk - after hostess all touch points were more than disappointing."

  • "Atmosphere - Kind of weird layout, it's a large space without a large number of tables so it has a feel as if you're having nice meal with a few friends in a large hall. Food - My meal was good but my wife's steak was over-cooked and some sides were burnt. Service - Server was outstanding. I ordered a drink that they didn't have so the server went to another sister restaurant across the street to get a bottle versus giving me an alternate beverage. My wife's meal was overcooked and our server noticed this (unfortunately after the fact) and offered to deduct the meal from the ticket without any prompting from us. Other than the service, not what I would have expected from a Kevin Taylor restaurant, a tier or two below expectations."

  • "We chose this restaurant because it has great atmosphere and wonderful food. We also chose this restaurant because most of the entrees are gluten free and the restaurant is so willing to work with us. For example we ordered salads and my friend that is gluten free notice fried onions on top. In asking the waiter who knew what she needed, he double checked with the kitchen and they use cornstarch, not flour to coat them. Just a wonderful experience and the price is in line."

  • "arrived 5:50 and immediately said we had 7:30 show. first course arrived quickly, then we waited & waited. By 7 pm we were very concerned & tried to hail down wait staff. About 7:10-15, our mains arrived - we hurriedly ate some and left the rest on the plate and rushed out the door. certainly not the relaxing & delicious meal we had expected. Someone apologized as we ran out, but what good did that do? way too expensive a meal for that sort of treatment."

  • "Like Restaurant Kevin Taylor so wanted to try dinner here after the symphony. I had sea bass and salad, and mom had herbed chicken, with soup. Menu is pretty limited (and no specials), but we both liked our food very much. Mine could have been a little warmer. Prices are fine-dining high. Service was good and all but our server were very pleasant. The setting is odd; on the lower level of the Ellie, off to one side of that lobby on a raised dais. So it has no atmosphere to speak of, but with not many tables, it is quiet."
