Diner Reviews
  • "We had a fab night at Kenichi with great service and fantastic food. It was only disappointing that they had no mackeral but the quality of the tuna and salmon more than made up for it"

  • "We had several rolls. They were good but not great. The extremely salty soy sauce detracted from the quality of the food. Recommend the "mean green" roll. Drinks were very good too."

  • "Great food, great atmosphere...we drive downtown from the 'burbs for this restaurant...Bhodi, an extraordinary executive chef, has crafted dishes that are some of the best in Dallas. Must try: the Dynamite shrimp or Lobster, the Kobe beef (perfect), spicy edimame, and a personal favorite; the toasty, crunchy and totally unexpected tofu...just amazing all the way around. You absolutely will fall for this place."

  • "the sushi is OK , but very overpriced and small portions compared to other sushi restaurants in Dallas. but the proximity to AA center and W will obviously make this restaurant endure"

  • "ordered grilled asparagus and heart of palm salad, sushi, maki and sake. salad was great. sushi was ok. what clinched this was were the rolls, which were regrettable (so overly seasoned that fish flavor was completely lost; rice was warm!!!). i noticed that everything i ate in dallas was highly seasoned so i guess it was inevitable that the maki would be overly seasoned too??? service was great though."

  • "We went for my husband's birthday on a Fri night. Parking was hard to find as there was a Mavs game going on that night. It was pretty empty when we sat down. I would recommend skipping the appetizers. I found them to be nothing special. I was told the dynamite shrimp was popular, but it was only 1 fried shrimp cut into 5 pieces. I did enjoy the pork belly skewer and escolar dishes were superb. Dessert wasn't that exciting either. They did offer a free dessert for his birthday so that was nice."

  • "The food was very good and had interesting options. We went prior to a concert at the American Airlines Center - it's easy walking from there. The noise level, however, was way too loud. We were at a small table for 2 and had to yell to each other to be heard. We struck up a conversation with a couple at the small table right next to us, and we all said "what?" a lot because we couldn't hear each other."

  • "We have been coming to Kenichi for years, and the food, service have been consistently superb. Management is hands-on and invested in operations, making sure customers are having a quality experience. This is our go-to place for date nights and special occasions... They always make an evening out seem more like an event, not just a meal."

  • "My wife and I went there before a Mavs game due to the proximity to the Arena. Normally, we do not venture outside of Blue Fish when it comes to eating sushi. However, Kenichi was outstanding; waitress was very helpful in exlplaining certain items and making recommendations. We ordered sushi, sashimi and cooked fish and steak; all were excellent! Food was a little pricey, but definitely worth it for the occassional getaway."

  • "Specialty rolls were great, but too expensive. Standard rolls (spicy tuna ect) were nothing special for that high price."

  • "unfortunately, half our party had to give up and leave (without dining there) because the valet filled up and there was no parking. after 40 minutes they gave up and went to another restaurant."

  • "i absolutely loved Kenichi-Dallas! me and my boyfriend enjoyed our valentines day dinner alot.. it was romantic, yet had almost a club like feel with the music and lighting. we loved that it was dimly lit, i hate romantic dinners where its so bright, that u feel like ur on display for everyone to see.. this is a great place and we will be returning there in the future"

  • "By far one of the best sushi places in Dallas, serice was nice and friendly, price was fair, I got one of the steak plates (the flat iron) it was awesome and cooked perfectly. Up stairs has a very romantic scene to take a date on, while downstairs has a very group atmosphere when hanging out with friends note they have a variety of drinks especially wines PS try the sake mojitio. This was my first time here but surely not my last."

  • "I dined at Kenichi with my girlfriend for the first time this weekend the food first of all was AWESOME. Everything about our experience was splendid besides the fact that our waiter seem a little unfocused and not aware of the current menu item specifics. I also did not have a napkin for setting when we first sat and took me asking two different waiters to get one. All in all our experience was awesome and we will be back to dine again."

  • "My husband and I had dinner by reservation on Valentine's Day. The food was absolutely amazing. The server was extremely knowledgeable about the different types of sushi and other items on the menu. He made a suggestion based on the types of sushi that I enjoy. He was so helpful. I had the Blake rolls and my husband had the kobe steak. Everything was amazing."

  • "Decent but not spectacular sushi. Seems like it should be more vibrant and crowded but it's always quite subdued... Leaves one feeling they are in a cool place while the cool kids are on vacation"

  • "The Chef, Bodhi, Management and Staff at Kenichi are fantastic. The Japanese food is expertly prepared and graciously served. The location near the American Airlines Center is convenient for before and after event dining. Their yellow-tail with serrano peppers is fantastic. The Head Chef, Bodhi, makes my friends and family feel welcome. I highly recommend Kenichi in Dallas, TX, as well as their Aspen, CO, location."

  • "Kenichis came highly recommended from a friend who frequents the restaurant. We had family guests from Miami in town and were celebrating a birthday and everyone LOVED the food and atmosphere! We do not typically eat out in Dallas at night and we found that even though the restaurant was outside our normal dining budget, the food was incredible, the service was excellent and the overall evening was a hit! I'm pretty sure our Miami family who is used to frequent fine dining, really was surprised at our venue choice. One family member missed the evening, but has been promised he will be taken since we feel it is worth the drive (we live in Mansfield) and the food!"

  • "We ate dinner with four people and sat in a private booth with the curtains drawn. Could be pretty hip but felt a little isolated. Though we managed to laugh a lot while in there. The food was delicious! Our favorites were the big eye tuna app with blueberry guy sauce and the sancho pepper calimari. The red curry soup with kafir was very tasty and perfectly balanced seasoning wise. The Rainbow roll was good. The sushi selections were ample and super fresh. The service altogether was good but not stellar. It was a slow night and so the scene was quiet."

  • "An appointment brought us downtown and google pointed out out Kenichi as a "close by" restaurant. After a little research we made a reservation and we are glad we did. Loved all the dishes we had ... sushi, sashimi, kaushi beef on hot stone ... even the pear bread pudding. We'll be back."

  • "The Head Chef, Bhodi, is a true culinary master. Each course is better than the next. Neal is a fantastic Saki Somlier, taking us through an extensive Saki list to let us enjoy the diferent types of Saki. I highly recomend this restaurant."

  • "Good wine list and drink menu. Fried rice excellent; shrimp appetizer excellent. Food overall very good. Service slow. For 15 minutes, never saw the waiter toward the end of the meal. Made us late for the Mavs game, as well as others in the restaurant. An hour and a half is not enough time prior to the game with the slow service at this restaurant. Friendly, but slow."

  • "Service was slow. Talked to the manager and he was very disinterested. I guess the customer isn't always right."
