  • "This is a student learning restaurant and the food and service in the past was excellent. I have been here many times but this experience was quite different the servers seem to be confused about what they should be doing. My quest had questions about the menu the servers could not answer always had to go back to the chef."

  • "Lunch at Kendall College Dining Room is always an adventure because the kitchen is a learning center. Each new batch of students brings fresh energy and diverse cultural backgrounds. The seasonal menu changes frequently, and the menu offerings are creative and unexpected. The price of the prix fixe menu (3 courses of choice) is beyond a bargain and the last time two of us dined there the house wine was $4 a glass. Hours at Kendall vary with the season and capacity (only so many tables can be handled by the number of students cooking and serving), so it pays to go as often as possible during days of operation. Can't say enough good things about this dining gem."

  • "We have been many times, every time is very good, and this was one of the best! The creativity was superb, the food was equal to every 4 star restaurant in Chicago and the value is excellent. if you have never been you need to go, if has been a long time (like us) go back, you will be suprised how they have grown and matured."

  • "The exceptional care that Maureen and the students give to everyone is only exceeded by the excellent food which the students prepared."

  • "Some of the most unique delicious choices for dinner. Great ambience and views with excellent service."

  • "Since last October we have visited Kendall 4 times, each time has been a marvelous experience. The staff is fantastic, better than most front of house "professionals" in other restaurants. They are knowledgeable, friendly, polite and extremely good at their jobs. The food is phenomenal, this visit we had lamb and branzino for our entrees. What keeps us coming back is the great preparation and the unusual accompaniments, such as strawberry gastrique and crushed pistachios with the lamb. Go with an open mind and a clear palate, and dive in."

  • "I went to dine at Kendall with my 7 year old. I knew it wouldn't have a kids menu but my daughter is not picky. They made her feel so elegant and grown up! Everyone was very friendly and went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us! We will definitely come back soon!"

  • "Good food, but sometimes the students have a tendency to over reach and over complicate dishes."

  • "Everything about this experience is wonderful. The students try very hard to please, and the food is excellent. And there is the additional benefit of a view of Chicago's skyline."

  • "The food was excellent and the students delightful. Our group of nine had patient waiters who explained the menu and pricing more than once as we placed our orders. They gave us individual checks which was helpful to us, but a lot more trouble for them. The atmosphere is relaxed and delightful. We plan to return."

  • "The presentation of the courses were clever and eye appealing. The taste was wonderful. There was a group of 4, which we tasted the different dishes. The spread for the bread was outstanding. The dessert also outstanding. Our servers were engaging and fun."

I especailly like that they are veg. friendly & take extra efforts to prepare something to fit within ones diet restrictions. The menu is creative & the service is wonderful. BRAVO to the students-they are doing a great job! p.s. thank you for the lovely anniversary dessert. it was SWEEEEET! xox p.s.s. being able to park is also an added perk!"

  • "Kendall College located on Goose Island is a great place for an evening out or a awesome lunch. The food is top quality and very artistic presented. If you like bread this is the place many different breads and yummy desserts. Free parking and handicap friendly. Great place for special occasions. The servers make the experience even better you get a chance to meet nice young people from other countries, the night we were there our server was from the Ukraine a beautiful friendly young lady and very attentive."

  • "If you did not already know it, you'd never guess the food at the Kendall dining room was prepared nearly entirely by students. Excellent presentation, and variety. Pacing can be a little bit of an issue, but that is true at most four and five star restaurants. Service is also by students, and it too is outstanding. While there is wine and bar service, you can also, at least at lunch, BYOB for a $5 corkage. Very nice view, and free parking. Three course lunch for $18.....$22 with a glass of wine."

  • "The Dining Room is a wonderful experience. The servers and chefs are students but that does not diminish the experience in any way. They are professional and the food is wonderful! It is fun to try some very unique food creations that are pleasing to both the eye and the palate. The prix fixe on Tues-Friday evenings is such a great deal....3 courses for $29. We went on a Tuesday which was also 1/2 price bottles of wine night so we got a doubly great deal! The Dining Room is a great place to celebrate a special occasion with friends."

  • "What comes out of the kitchen is the best part of the meal. The food (quite a variety of options available, both a la carte and prix fixe, a great deal btw) is well done. Potions are good (however desserts are monstrous!), plating is lovely and flavors and textures make the grade. Available beer and wine is priced consistent with a moderate restaurant (house wines are $4 w/the prix fixe; you may also byo for $). The servers are very rough and it's not just that they refer to notes about the food which is fine. Maybe the program ought to take them out to some moderate upscale or even gastropubs because it does seem many aren't familiar with service. Easy parking is a plus. But it's a highly recommended experience."

  • "We have been Kendall Dining Room fans for decades. The value for the food and service is unsurpassed in Chicago. The professional manner of the students makes it hard to believe that one is dining in a classroom."

  • "I've been coming to Kendall College Dining Room for years and always had a great experience. Everything is always outstanding. Its hard to keep this precious gem of a restaurant a secret!"

  • "While visiting Chicago recently I did some research and came across this gem. Well known by natives, but under the radar for out of towners, we were more then pleasantly surprised, we were downright gob smacked by everything about this place. From the greeter (Pam) who welcomed us to the fantastic waitress (Victoria) who served us, everything was done with style and taste, yet with a friendly vibe. And as far as the food goes, you could go to some very high priced dining establishments in Cihicago, but none would match the quality of the Kendall College Dining Room. And did I mention the $29. prix fixe dinner and the $10. corkage fee? More the reasonable for something this delicious. Run don't walk to his fine dining spot."

  • "One of the best lunch values in town. Substituted a second starter for dessert. Between my wife and I, we had 5 out of 6 that were great. My main course shrimp and polenta were rather bland. But the hanger steak for my wife was perfect. House wine at $4 and glass of good burgundy at $9 were priced well below any where else. Great view of city skyline as well."

  • "My husband and I were in Chicago for the weekend, celebrating our wedding anniversary. I had read about Kendall College which has a wonderful culinary program. The students learn all different positions with in the program, cooking, baking, serving ect. The food was five star, wonderful ambiance as well , all should give it a try!"

  • "The Dining Room at Kendall College is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is stellar, the service impeccable, and the price is incredibly affordable. I love eating here and feeling like I'm giving the students an opportunity to get some practice in their chosen fields, while I get an absolutely amazing meal for an affordable price. It's a win-win situation!"

  • "Fixed menu assures you will taste at least 3 dishes. It's fun to see the open kitchen and watch the students prepare each dish with such care. It was a slow night, and each plate was an assembly of unusual food combinations artfully presented. "

  • "Our dining experience at Kendall College was nothing short of amazing! The service was top notch and the students who work there really strived to provide excellent service and so friendly and willing to answer any questions. The food was tasty and beautifully presented from the first course to the last. It would be impossible to find any other place where you only pay $39 for the quality of food and service. I have already recommended many friends to check this place out and see for themselves what the students and their school have to offer for fine dining."

  • "If Kendall demonstrates the future of restauranteurs, front and back of the house, the future is in excellent hands. Painstakingly prepared and served by students, under watchful but not intrusive supervision by experts, the food is seasonal, inventive, surprising, and delicious. At $22 ( or $28 with a generous pour of the excellent house wine) the 3 course lunch is the absolute best value in the city. And parking is free!"

  • "Even with true rookie servers, the service was really good. Superb presentation, and wonderful taste combinations. Yes, Kendall is a little out of the way, but why this restaurant is not packed to the gills is beyond me. The $22 three course lunch includes a glass of wine. This is one of the best deals in City."

  • "The Kendall College Dining Room is one of the finest restaurants in the area. I am never disappointed. I try to go several times each semester so that I can try everything on the menu. Outstanding food and service!"

  • "This is a wonderful dining experience made even better by knowing that you are being a part of the students' educational experience. Do NOT worry that anything is comprised because this is a training program. Quite the contrary, food, service, etc. excel precisely because every step is required to be sensational."

  • "Once again we had another great dinner, superbly prepared and served by the students under the watchful eye of Maureen, who takes such care to make sure that everything goes well."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "It's a school with experienced instructors so we were expecting great food. It did not disappoint. We've been to Kendall's multiple times and they always have interesting choices on the menu. We had our office holiday party here with over 25 people and it was fine. The one draw back is the service. During each term students trade time between the kitchen and table service. Some students have likely never been to a restaurant with fine dining service so their supervisor is busier guiding students during table service which means it can take more time. Our lunch yesterday took 2 1/2 hours. It's not the first time and it's nice not to be rushed but just be aware if you've got limited time. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed."
