The pastries are amazing, innovative and delicious. The night we were there wine by the bottle was 50% off. Needless to say, we had a wonderful experience but ate way too much. The menu will change because this is a culinary school. We can't wait to go back. Gives you an opportunity to eat foods you would not think to combine and try new foods on a budget! We were impressed with the menu options and did the price fix menu which was perfect. We ordered different items and got a variety of tastings. Everything was excellent and the presentation was lovely. We had a problem with our drink order which they corrected. PROS: mostly very good quality and quantity of food (creative, tasty, well presented), great value.
CONS: the servers though very nice and trying, were still not very experiences and slow, the ambiance is nice, but nothing to write about, difficult to find without signs directing you.
We understand that this is a learning experience for the students and as it is it's not bad at all, but reviews saying you get a Michelin star experience for less money are a bit misleading. At least it wasn't our experience there, though we can't say it wasn't a good one. And being a part of the cooking school process is pretty interesting with some interesting food experiences as well. I've only gone for the Monday Night Dining series which is a great introduction to the Dining Room experience. Dinner on his birthday at the Kendall College dining room was a great gift to himand good experience for all 5 of us.
We all enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience including the Peruvian food theme. We especialy enjoyed the idea of this theme since many of the items we would most likely not have had the opportunity to taste. The atmosphere was lovely, food was delicious, and student waitstall did an outstanding job. Bravo to Kendall College and it's talented students and staff. The two of us selected the fixed price menu, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert for $29. All of the food was fantastic, especially for the price point. But the service and food is very professionally presented and the equal of most excellent restaurants at about half the price. The ambiance is very pleasant, relaxing and the waitstaff (and the chef) are very accommodating. We were a group of four. The menu listed a variety of unusual vegetables. I asked if it were possible for them to offer a vegetable platter which sampled each of the vegetables along with our entres. The waiter said he would ask the chef and out request was granted.
Overall we enjoyed the dinner and the relaxed , quiet atmosphere. A great place for a first date. Not too expensive so it doesn't look like showing off. Don't let the "college" idea fool you—this is a top-notch experience with simply amazing food. I was able to watch the food being prepared, but the kitchen is separated by a pane of glass, so no noise from food prep taints your quiet, deluxe meal. We wanted somewhere special to take two fairly discerning friends to celebrate one of thems 80th birthday. They live in Tallahasse and we live in Australia so it was not easy finding and chosing. We were all delighted by my choice! As a training restaurant, there were many staff and they made a great fuss of our friend and his birthday. He and his wife are in education so we were all thrilled to get a special tour of the facility and have lots of ineraction with the staff. We were lucky it was a quiet night.
