Kendall College Dining RoomWe went on Monday, May 13,We went on Monday, May 13, my son's birthday, he is in chiropractic med program in Lombard, IL but is passionate about cooking. Dinner on his birthday at the Kendall College dining room was a great gift to himand good experience for all 5 of us.
We all enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience including the Peruvian food theme. We especialy enjoyed the idea of this theme since many of the items we would most likely not have had the opportunity to taste. The atmosphere was lovely, food was delicious, and student waitstall did an outstanding job. Bravo to Kendall College and it's talented students and staff. They went above and beyond to accommodate my vegan eating program, and even gave us 'extras' that we didn't order. Kudos to the chef, and kitchen staff for their professionalism and creativity. The two of us selected the fixed price menu, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert for $29. All of the food was fantastic, especially for the price point. My only slight disappointment was the small portion size. But the service and food is very professionally presented and the equal of most excellent restaurants at about half the price. The ambiance is very pleasant, relaxing and the waitstaff (and the chef) are very accommodating. We were a group of four. The menu listed a variety of unusual vegetables. I asked if it were possible for them to offer a vegetable platter which sampled each of the vegetables along with our entres. The waiter said he would ask the chef and out request was granted.
Overall we enjoyed the dinner and the relaxed , quiet atmosphere. A great place for a first date. Not too expensive so it doesn't look like showing off. Don't let the "college" idea fool you—this is a top-notch experience with simply amazing food. I was able to watch the food being prepared, but the kitchen is separated by a pane of glass, so no noise from food prep taints your quiet, deluxe meal. The half off bottle of wine on Tuesday allowed me to try the Cabernet Franc from the Oregon/Washington area I would not otherwise purchase. We will be back for dinner.
