Diner Reviews
  • "Visited Kelsey's in Atlantic City on a Tuesday night in April so the restaurant was not very crowded, but the ambience was lovely, a jazzy, laid back atmosphere with smooth R&B playing at a very pleasant level .The food came out in a very timely manner and was hot. The taste was awesome, with plentiful portions. Servers were quite courteous and attentive. We had the smothered chops and BBQ pork spare rib meals, both were very tasty. Pork chops were surprisingly fork-tender and ribs were fall-off-the-bone, without falling off the bone. They offer entertainment on some nights which adds to the experience for those who enjoy music with their meal. Overall an awesome experience."

  • "We decided to go for brunch so that we could have the chance to try many dishes. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Our waiter, Farris (?) was top-notch from the moment we sat down. The owners, Kelsey and Kim, also came out to greet guests and were very friendly. The food -- wow! I haven't had soul food this great in ages. The food was so good we went back the next day for brunch. Between both days, we had collard greens, cajun catfish, jambalaya, mac and cheese, shrimp and grits, made to order omelets, pancakes, fried whiting, baked chicken, and OH MY GOODNESS...the RED VELVET WAFFLES with fried chicken on the side, melt in your mouth goodness! We just might go back to AC to have a reason to go to Kelsey's."

  • "My group ate at Kelsey's while we were in the area for business. The food was very good, and there were lots of southern classics and seafood on the menu. The cornbread was the best cornbread I've ever eaten--it was super sweet, and almost cake-like. The service was fairly good--our drinks were left empty on more than one occasion, but we were checked on frequently, and our server, David, was very friendly and happy to help us decide what to order."

  • "Went there for Happy Hour two striaght days. Had the Burritos, Shrimp & Grits and the Bang Bang Shrimp. All were excellent. Went there for dinner on February 13th, had the smothered Pork Chops. EXCELLENT! The pork chops were large (you get 2) and the onion gravy that is was smothered in was outstanding! Went there for Dinner on February 14th: I had reservations for the main dining room, however, they wanted to place in the back of the restaurant. The owner came out and obliged me and put us in the main dining area. Had the crab cake dinner with Mac & Cheese and Greens. If you go you must have THE CORN BREAD! It is like pound cake. The Happy Hour has great food and the prices of the drinks are on point."

  • "It was a Friday night. The live Jazz band added the touch of authenticity to compliment our traditional but superior soul food. We also met a vibrant man named Dorian who was extremely friendly and shared some of Kelsey's history with us. Our server David was professional and patient. We are already telling all our friends and family. Kelsey's will definitely become a staple restaurant that we frequently dine."

  • "I dined this evening with a party of 4. Joe our server was awesome, very professional and attentive. The entertainment was great. The food was very tasty. However, dined here with a party of 12 recently, I made reservations a week in advance and when my party arrived we were not seated together. We were seated at 2 different tables for 6. Although there was a large empty table that remained open all night. We had a 10 PM reservation and it was not crowded. I spoke with the owner Kim before we were seated & she was very rude and said "no way" we could move. They are NOT good with seating for large parties even with reservations. The hostess staff not very friendly either. The first impression sometimes a lasting one."

  • "My party of eight had a 745 reservation but didn't eat until after 900. The food was worth the wait. The owner Kelsey came to our table and talked with us while we waited. Very down to earth guy. Great live jazz band helped keep us calm while we waited. We were not greeted by a host/hostess for a few minutes. No apology either. We had to ask for bread for the butter that was already on our table. Staff was not very friendly, not rude but definitely not friendly. Well not everyone a very nice gentleman took a group photo for us. I think he was a bust boy. But he was very personable. I will eat there again but I will have a heavy lunch before I go."

  • "The mixed green salad was cold and wilted as if it had been sitting uncovered in the refrigerator pre-made for days. Not appealing at all. However, the blackened salmon was very very good."

  • "One hour between sitting down and getting drinks, are you kidding me? Then they tried to force us to buy comedy show tickets that was starting in 30 mins if we didn't finish dinner which I flatly refused to do. Only dish that was any good was the baked Mac and Cheese. Never again!"

  • "My experience at Kelsey's was wonderful great food, service and music. The best part about my night at Kelsey's is when our waiter got on stage gave me and my girlfriend a shout and song Maxwell for us. Best night ever"

  • "I came to see Darchele Scott and the Ascencion Band and brought 5 of my girlfriends. I always have a great time when I'm at Kelsey's. Our table was FABULOUS! We were right in the front. My girlfriends spoke highly of the atmosphere and said they would be coming back again. We had a BALL!"

  • "My friend and I were visiting Atlantic City this past weekend and we ate at Kelsey's. The beef short ribs, corn bread and catfish nuggets were my fav. The crab cakes were good but coming from DMV area, I have had better. I will definitely be going every time I am in AC. The cherry on top was our server Franklin. He was the most polite server in the world. Great job."

  • "A rainy night in AC, Kelsey's hit the spot. Make sure you make table reservations, it's a MUST. The food was DELICIOUS, but it's a shame it doesn't come with dinner rolls or cornbread(you have to purchase it). Whatever you do, don't order the crab cake as an appetizer, you'll be paying $12 for one. I couldn't believe it, one crab cake for $12, no thanks. Otherwise everything else we had was absolutely GREAT!! I'll definitely be there again, I want to try everything on the menu."

  • "The beginning of dining experience did not go well. We were seated and given menus by our hostess. Then waitied 20 minutes to receive water and have our order taken. There was a waiter nearby, but he did not give eye contact or say someone would be with us. Our waiter was from another section who was handeling a bachelor party. Our waiter was great and the food was excellent! The band was awesome, just a bit loud and you could not carry a conversation at our table."

  • "I made reservations here and I will never regret that! I was with an all female party of 5 and the music was energetic, the lighting was exotic the staff was sociable the drinks were strong, try the fishbowls, and the food was absolutely amazing. It was fresh and tasted homemade. None of that fake Collard Greens mess. This is quality at a reasonable price. My new favorite Atlantic City Spot!"

  • "I had an early dinner here (5:00PM) with my pre-teen boys on a Saturday in March. I was surprised to find that there weren't may patrons there, (I suspect it was due to the time of day) but I had read so many great reviews of the place and since it was also recommended by a friend I felt confident that it'd be a great experience. I was NOT disappointed! The interior of the place looks classy/casual (if that makes sense...) Otherwise, you'd not feel out of place dressing up, or wearing a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt. The staff was very friendly and professional, and the food... OMG! The food was delicious! Everything was seasoned to perfection! I would surely dine here again the next time I visit Atlantic City."

  • "The food was ok. We went on a night they had live music. The music was too loud for a small space. We couldn't even hear or communicate with our server. We had to point to what we wanted off the menu. The server also tried giving us our bill while we were still eating our food."

  • "We ordered, received our salads, had no silverware on our table. I asked our waiter for some, he said sure. Five minutes later a bus boy brought - one set of silverware and placed it by me. I said to him "she'd like to eat too". He looked blankly at me, then at my wife. The I said "we need another set of silverware". He said ok. It took five minutes to bring it. The salads were tiny. - half the size the people next to us were served. FYI the ribs were mediocre at best - texture off, yucky BBQ sauce. The rice pilaf side dish was puny, they had no baked potato, the string beans were very soggy. Collard greens and pork chops were delicious. Music was very good."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere, Had a reservation was warmly and promptly greeted and seated. Server was pleasant and genuine. Drinks were right on very good. Bread and salad brought to the table without much wait time. We both had blackened salmon, rice pilaf, and broccoli. salmon was crusted well excellent taste, rice pilaf wonderful taste with perfect texture, broccoli not overcooked. Of course we went for dessert, red velvet cake just right not to sweet and my husband had the apple pie. We had to take it out because we couldn't finish it. Live jazz band to top off the experience fantastic sound. We both enjoyed this restaurant we will be back soon."

  • "We made this reservation to try something new and different. There was very good live music but this made hearing others difficult We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant, given menus, and then ignored. After 20 minutes of NO ONE acknowledging us we got up and left. I would love to tell you how the food was but I never got the chance."

  • "I went for brunch to use my groupon. I was disappointed because I was not able to use it. The Groupon says you can't use it on specials or event nights it dones not say you can't use it for brunch. Our server said that even though it says you can't use it on event nights they will accept it. So which one is it?. Very misleading. The food was good, not a big selection for the brunch buffet. I would prefer going to their other location"

  • "The food was amazing. Full of flavor and just the right size portions. We had the bang bang shrimp, ribs, and salmon. Mouth watering. We plan on returning to try everything on the menu. The jazz music goes great with the ambience. Its our favorite place to eat in AC. Its the only place we'll eat."

  • "Friday we made our fifth visit to this wonderful restaurant. For starters it beautiful room. The foods great with Southern and Cajun influences. Then there is the music. Friday happened to be duet night and there were 3-4 singers in the house who took turns teaming with the bands own lead singers. Beautiful room, great food, awesome entertainment and good company. Kelsey's Supper Club is just what's advertised!"

  • "I took my husband to Atlantic City for his birthday and we first ate at a high end steakhouse restaurant in our hotel for a steak dinner. Kelsey and Kim's was recommended by a friend of ours and by far, we should have saved the expense of eating at the steakhouse and ate every night at Kelsey and Kim's. The food was amazing, the place was welcoming, staff was very professional and courteous and we even caught a night they had Karaoke. Eating at Kelsey and Kim's was the icing on the cake for the birthday celebration that I planned for my husband. We had a wonderful time dining there and we look forward to returning again!"

  • "I would first like to say that the food itself was excellent!! However, we had a 7 o'clock reservation and weren't seated until 730 even though there were a dozen empty tables visible.... The hostess was impolite and seemed unclear of her duties. She turned away five parties that I saw again with multiple visible open tables (The tables remained empty during our entire hour and a half service) Our waiter (Farris?) was excellent but seems to be the only waiter working. I had read reviews about the price of the food where the chef said the quality made it worth it and I would have to agree about the food.... But the service and bewilderment of the staff will keep us away in the future. * The band did come on an hour late but they were good"

  • "I was in Atlantic city for one day and one night ONLY. I went on a Wednesday night. I had made reservations for three, but to be honest around 6 o'clock on a Wednesday I really didn't need it. As soon as we walked in were greeted and seated. The waiter didn't know who was assigned to our table and had to discuss it with his fellow waiters. After that we were all set, we had corn bread and Caesar salad. Surprisingly, a great combination. We all wanted to order different entrees BUT the entree that caught our attention was of course the chicken and waffles. It is written at the tippy top for a reason. The main event. I had it with all white meat (breast and wing) and my cousins had it with dark meat ( thigh and drum stick). It was perfect!"
