Top Three ListKelly Liken's definitely makes our Colorado top Three restaurant list! We love the food, presentation, and service! The meal was phenomenal with so many unique touches (love, love, love the candied fennel and olives), the Colorado lamb was melt in your mouth and i wanted to lick the bowl of my mushroom agnolotti. Even though it was a Sunday in the offseason (mud season, as the locals say), there were still 3-4 other tables in there. It was a nice vibe -- not too quiet, perfect. They took care of us, and helped us celebrate our nice day in style. The food was very good. Maybe not memorable, but very good. I start at satisfactory (***), readily move down and begrudgingly move up from there. I cannot recall having given five stars in all categories. I simply can't think of any aspect of our meal that was less than outstanding. From the warm welcome to the service that was attentive but never overbearing. From the amuse bouche to the lollipop for the road, the food was inspirational in its conception, wonderfully sourced, and flawlessly prepared. From the cocktails prepared as we like them, to the wine pairings recommended by the staff, the beverage service was flawless. The food combinations are always fresh and inventive; the staff is professional, congenial, knowlegeable and very accommodating; the wine list is superb and the staff knows how to make excellent pairings with the food. The server knew a great deal about all the dishes on the menu. The second course -- diver scallop with pork belly was unbelievable. I bit into the pork belly and it was crispy on the outside and the inside just melted away. It was fantastic. The $74 three course meal is such a great value and is definitely the way to go. The menu and added items are creative without trying to go over the top with flavors. The wonderful ingredients get their opportunity to shine with perfect preparation and presentation. Wine can be paired by the glass, and the by-the-glass options are actually quite good as the restaurant is not shy about opening better bottles. The service was fantastic, and the full staff did not miss a single detail along the way.
A special note to parents ... Kelly Liken gets it. The kids were offered their own prix fixe menu with approachable options. they were treated like patrons at a great restaurant and like kids.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinetly fit for foodiesDefinetly fit for foodies but there is at least one dish in each course for the less adventuresome palate. Loved the grilled radicchio and mushroom soup. Sticky bun sundae was to die for. Great service. Casual comfortable setting but the table appointments and service make the dining experience special. The restaurant staff and chef were totally prepared for my request and provided me with a specialty inspired vegan meal that was the BEST I have ever tasted, including in vegan only restaurants. It just goes to prove that an amazing chef is an amazing chef, no matter what he/she works with. I loved that Kelly Liken also offers 1/2 glasses of wine. So nice when you want a second, but not a second full pour.
