  • "What is there to say about Kell's? Amazing food, fun atmosphere, not overpriced. A family favorite. "

  • "Saturday night is busy. Bar is loud but the restaurant is small but nice. Not just bar food. Moderate menu with Irish cuisine . A nice change to eating out ."

  • "Kell's is always fun! The food was great. My wife had the Irish lamb stew, our daughter had the Irish meatballs and mash while I had the Reuben. Every plate was well presented and absolutely delicious. We arrived just before noon with our daughter and her seven month old son who happens to be the best behaved child the good Lord ever created. We wouldn't take him to restaurants if he was a noisy chap. The service was excellent and the staff attentive. The owner even stopped by to visit for several minutes. The Guiness was poured properly and the Irish coffee was done just right. If your ever looking for good food, fun and a great crowd you should do yourself a favor and drop into Kell's! It really works so well for many occasions."

  • "Comfortable, European bar style atmosphere. Traditional bar food menu with Irish specialties such as lamb stew. Generous portions, friendly table service."

  • "Kell's is a long time Portland landmark. Classic Irish Pub, good beer and very good food. Perfect for a different lunch spot. The Mc Aleese's do a great job."

  • "We had the worse service ever. Servers name was Kaya (or something like that). She got our orders wrong and was more interested in talking with other employees than in taking care of our table. Our first experience at Kells had been very good, but after this experience, my husband said he has not interest in going back. Pretty disappointing. We were also disappointed with the food. Which really surprised us. He ordered Corned Beef and Cabbage, and literally had two cabbage leaves on his plate. I ordered a Spinach Salad and there was only 3 paper thin slices of apple. Not much of anything else either. The quality of our meal combined with the service was a big let down for us. Kell's definitely let us down."

  • "Seven of us, aged 25-64, rode the MAX into town and walked the few blocks over to Kells. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and had a really good time. We went early in the evening, so it was not crowded and the noise level was perfect. The food and service were great. Made our reservations on line and that was a snap!"

  • "We celebrated a friend's birthday over the weekend and had a great time at Kell's. Making reservations online was easy and when we got there our table was just about ready. Drinks were great (strong!) and the food was so good! Our waitress was really attentive and nice even though they were so busy. We'll definitely come back!"

  • "Food and service were average. As a policy, they don't split bills. This made things tough with a group of 13. When we asked about splitting the bill one server said yes, but our server said no. They said it takes too much time for them to do it. Our group ended up spending about 15 minutes trying to divide the bill between 5 credit cards. (5 was the max they would take) Glad we were able to save them the time!!!! Not sure that's really putting the client first."

  • "We are NEVER disappointed with any dish we order at Kell's. The atmostphere is vibrant and fun. However if you want a quiet restaurant, Kell's is not for you."

  • "This is a great place to get a delicious bite to eat with many traditional Irish dishes than dance and enjoy the band. The band was a 3 piece (drum, fiddle, guitar/vocalist). They played upbeat music with an Irish flair. Fun to dance to!!"

  • "The food was great and the service top notch!! We WILL be back."

  • "Friendly staff and lots of authentic Irish accents to the atmosphere and menu. The lamb stew was uninspired with an undifferentiated taste. Chicken mushroom pastry was better, but maybe overreaching, next time I will try the Irish nachos, see if I have better luck with Irish whiskey, beer, and bar fare."

  • "We ended up here because we could not get a 7:30 reservation anywhere else. We had a great time and the food was excellent. The best Sheperd's Pie I have ever tasted. We will be back."

  • "We've been to Kell's many times. This was not our best experience. Our table was set in a position that partially blocked the aisle, causing the wait staff to have to twist and turn to get past us. No bread and butter delivered until my wife flagged down wait staff (not our server, either.) Food took 45 minutes to arrive (and the place was only 2/3 full.) My food was too hot to eat. My wife's meat had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. It was so dry that it was inedible. The server did take it off the tab. I know the owner and he asked how things went, so I told him and he apologized. Everybody has bad days. This was one for Kell's."

  • "A group of went for dinner on new Years Eve before heading to the hockey game. The group included a 2 year old. We had great food, great service. And open table made it easy to make a reservation."

  • "Four of us went to celebrate New Year's and our Anniversary...the prime rib was fabulous, dessert flight was a little lacking in presentation but tasty and it was New Year's....and the bar has the widest selection of whiskeys to be found in the US. Our waiter, Cameron, was so attentive without being nosy and let us sit and drink in the restaurant while watching to make sure we had everything we desired. We will go back and ask for Cameron to wait on us, he was that great! The Cigar Bar downstairs is a "not to be missed" spot if you like classic cigars and comfy leather chairs to relax in while listening to the music from the live bands upstairs. Service from Jenna again was outstanding."

  • "Love the varied menu. Both my vegetarian daughter and my diabetic self could find plenty of choices that we could eat. Some of the best fish n chips I have had in a long time, and the veggie burger was excellent!"

  • "Service was a little spotty on this occasion. They were understaffed. I didn't really enjoy the menu and don't think I would enjoy coming back."

  • "Love the Cigar Bar. Nice to see. I miss all the cigar bars of the past. Waitress was great. Always smiling and looked like she genuinely enjoyed tasking care of us."

  • "We were the first guests in the restaurant. Our server was quick to take our order, she was a sweet lady, but got mixed up with what beers we ordered. She straightened it out, While sitting there, a couple came in to be seated, who were the 2nd guests in the restaurant. The hostess sat them RIGHT next to us, even though there were several open tables. After that a large party came in who were sat RIGHT behind us. One of the woman in the party was wearing perfume so strong I got an instant headache. We asked to be moved, so our group moved to the furthest table away. It's not Kell's fault that someone chooses to be wear too much perfume, but why not spread the guests around so we aren't all on top of each other? The food itself was "ok"."

  • "Went to Kell's for our son's 21st birthday. He said it was his best birthday ever. Would recommend this place - good food, fun atmosphere. Reasonable - with 8 of us, drinks and food, we spent $175 with tip."

  • "I decided to break away from my usual order of fish and chips and try the Irish Nachos, which according to the menu were sliced potatoes. However, I was quite surprised and kind of disappointed when they arrived to discover that they were actually potato chips. I was expecting sliced potatoes rounds/wheels, not homemade potato chips! Nevertheless I dug in and they were tasty, but I still wished they were more potato and less chip! :-)"

  • "Best Irish Pub EVER! Kell's never fails to please, great bar, HUGE whiskey/scotch selection...HUGE and consistantly great pub fare. If you love fish and chips don't order them here...it will ruin them for you forever as they are the BEST ON PLANET EARTH...and I'm not kidding. Also great is the Ballycastle...unique and delicious!"
