This is a good fun place to eat, always reliable, lots of beer selections, OK wine list (could be better). Good Pub -grub, decent prices and I love the outdoor seating out front. Night time has great local entertainment from Folk to Rock, and if you are a sports fan (we are not, thats why we eat outside) this place is especially for you.

My husband and I make it a point to visit kell's when ever we are in Portland. The food is fantastic and it is really hard to choose a dish. There is already a game on on and music going in the background. There are also live music nights. If you are looking for a good time and a great meal Kell's is the place for you.

Kell's is always fun! The food was great. My wife had the Irish lamb stew, our daughter had the Irish meatballs and mash while I had the Reuben. Every plate was well presented and absolutely delicious. We arrived just before noon with our daughter and her seven month old son who happens to be the best behaved child the good Lord ever created. We wouldn't take him to restaurants if he was a noisy chap. The service was excellent and the staff attentive. The owner even stopped by to visit for several minutes. The Guiness was poured properly and the Irish coffee was done just right. If your ever looking for good food, fun and a great crowd you should do yourself a favor and drop into Kell's! It really works so well for many occasions.

Seven of us, aged 25-64, rode the MAX into town and walked the few blocks over to Kells. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and had a really good time. We went early in the evening, so it was not crowded and the noise level was perfect. The food and service were great. Made our reservations on line and that was a snap!

We had the worse service ever. Servers name was Kaya (or something like that). She got our orders wrong and was more interested in talking with other employees than in taking care of our table. Our first experience at Kells had been very good, but after this experience, my husband said he has not interest in going back. Pretty disappointing. We were also disappointed with the food. Which really surprised us. He ordered Corned Beef and Cabbage, and literally had two cabbage leaves on his plate. I ordered a Spinach Salad and there was only 3 paper thin slices of apple. Not much of anything else either. The quality of our meal combined with the service was a big let down for us. Kell's definitely let us down.

We celebrated a friend's birthday over the weekend and had a great time at Kell's. Making reservations online was easy and when we got there our table was just about ready. Drinks were great (strong!) and the food was so good! Our waitress was really attentive and nice even though they were so busy. We'll definitely come back!

Food and service were average. As a policy, they don't split bills. This made things tough with a group of 13. When we asked about splitting the bill one server said yes, but our server said no. They said it takes too much time for them to do it. Our group ended up spending about 15 minutes trying to divide the bill between 5 credit cards. (5 was the max they would take) Glad we were able to save them the time!!!! Not sure that's really putting the client first.

Friendly staff and lots of authentic Irish accents to the atmosphere and menu. The lamb stew was uninspired with an undifferentiated taste. Chicken mushroom pastry was better, but maybe overreaching, next time I will try the Irish nachos, see if I have better luck with Irish whiskey, beer, and bar fare.

  • We've been to Kell's many
    Law5guy

We've been to Kell's many times. This was not our best experience. Our table was set in a position that partially blocked the aisle, causing the wait staff to have to twist and turn to get past us. No bread and butter delivered until my wife flagged down wait staff (not our server, either.) Food took 45 minutes to arrive (and the place was only 2/3 full.) My food was too hot to eat. My wife's meat had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. It was so dry that it was inedible. The server did take it off the tab. I know the owner and he asked how things went, so I told him and he apologized. Everybody has bad days. This was one for Kell's.

Four of us went to celebrate New Year's and our Anniversary...the prime rib was fabulous, dessert flight was a little lacking in presentation but tasty and it was New Year's....and the bar has the widest selection of whiskeys to be found in the US. Our waiter, Cameron, was so attentive without being nosy and let us sit and drink in the restaurant while watching to make sure we had everything we desired. We will go back and ask for Cameron to wait on us, he was that great! The Cigar Bar downstairs is a "not to be missed" spot if you like classic cigars and comfy leather chairs to relax in while listening to the music from the live bands upstairs. Service from Jenna again was outstanding.

We were the first guests in the restaurant. Our server was quick to take our order, she was a sweet lady, but got mixed up with what beers we ordered. She straightened it out, While sitting there, a couple came in to be seated, who were the 2nd guests in the restaurant. The hostess sat them RIGHT next to us, even though there were several open tables. After that a large party came in who were sat RIGHT behind us. One of the woman in the party was wearing perfume so strong I got an instant headache. We asked to be moved, so our group moved to the furthest table away. It's not Kell's fault that someone chooses to be wear too much perfume, but why not spread the guests around so we aren't all on top of each other? The food itself was "ok".

I decided to break away from my usual order of fish and chips and try the Irish Nachos, which according to the menu were sliced potatoes. However, I was quite surprised and kind of disappointed when they arrived to discover that they were actually potato chips. I was expecting sliced potatoes rounds/wheels, not homemade potato chips! Nevertheless I dug in and they were tasty, but I still wished they were more potato and less chip! :-)

Arrived for a late breakfast. Kell's wasn't even 1/4 full so we didn't actually need the reservation. The waitress came around after a few minutes to get our drink orders. After several more minutes she came back to take our breakfast orders. Then the waiting began. We all finished our coffee, etc, still waiting... After about 20mins, the waitress stops to see if we need refills instead coming prepared with a carafe. It must have been pushing 35mins before the first 2 plates come out of the kitchen. We enjoyed the food while the staff appeared to be mainly busy setting tables for lunch. Meanwhile our drinks went empty again.
