Hello the food was great. Although
being that this is an Irish Pub I was hoping for more unique and Irish style menu offerings for our breakfast. I went to Kell's to celebrate a friends birthday. She is Irish so this is why I took her to Kell's. The breakfast menu was small, and we could have had the same food at most any restaurant. The Irish Soda bread toast was the only different item. The service was ok. Except the waitress just did her basic level job. We told her that we were their to celebrate a birthday. She did nothing extra for this. And didn't even wish my friend a Happy Birthday or acknowledge it in any way. Even when we were leaving. She was friendly enough, but not really very happy and friendly."

Dining with 5 other women, when we
want to have an all out gab-fest was so enjoyable in the enclosure of one of the snug booth. While they aren't soundproof, it does make it much easier to have a conversation that everyone, including those hard of hearing, can participate easier in. The food was very good, with some uniquely pub items, of a Celtic nature. And our waiter was really outstanding--never felt like he was rushing us, but kept lovely reasonable check on us, and even remembered who ordered what--something I often find lacking in so many food establishments. I wish I'd gotten his name as he really was outstanding in his customer service demeanor and attitude from the moment I stepped in the front door."

We went to Kell's for the first
time Valentine's night at 7 PM, so it probably wasn't a typical night. Parking was challenging. There were a lot of people there, but we were seated quickly and received very good service. Our food was yummy though, I ordered the Valentine's Day salmon over quinoa special and it was great. Everything was fresh and tasty. My husband (who is from Ireland) ordered the Chicken Curry (over chips/fries). It was exactly what he expected, an upscale-more fresh version of the curry he loved to get back home at the local chip shop. Due to babysitter constraints, we had to leave before the live music started, but it definitely looked promising ;-). We would definitely go back."

We had a group of nine and Kells
Brew Pub happily took a reservation with our large group. The beer was great and the food was real good. A definite place to revisit."

I went to Kells for my birthday
this weekend. Kells is a beautiful and typical Irish pub - the feel of the place is fairly authentic. The service was outstanding with all of the waiters stopping by periodically to check on us. I had fish and chips and they were freshly made, and tasty. My daughter had the kale salad and it was terrible. We had a great table in front of the fireplace with a good view of the live music. Shortly before the start of the music people started pouring in and made for great people watching! I would go again, but probably not for dinner."

Love this location. It's never
overly crowded, and you feel comfortable enough to stay a while."

I went here for my birthday, with
6 of my friends. The service was absolutely wonderful. We brought a cake in, and they provided us with a serving plate, a cake knife, and even put it back in the box for us after we were done serving it at the table. They also provided me with a whisky shot, so kudos for that!"

I wasn't a big fan of the menu but
thought the Draper chicken would be just the ticket. Kell's was out of chicken at 6:30. We were not advised until we placed the order. Timing??? My husband had the steak and said it was very good. So one of our party of two was a happy diner. We may go back for breakfast at some time in the future."

You can't fault the service in any
respect. The drinks, especially from the specials menu, are outstanding. The ambiance is loaded with Irish charm. And the menu is imaginative. I just have to wonder if the kitchen crew are smokers. The food wasn't inedibly salty, but the flavors of the high quality ingredients in the Irish Stew and the Shepherd's Pie were shoved aside by salt. The Kale Salad was good and extremely generous but strangely composed and presented. I'll definitely go back for drinks and to try the Happy Hour, and there are a couple of other items on the menu I'd like to try out before I give up and stick to the booze."

I've been a customer at Kell's for
about as long as I have lived in Portland. 15 years. What's not so well known is that Kell's is open on Christmas Eve. A few years ago, I had nowhere to go for the holiday so I stopped into Kell's. I expected to be one of, perhaps, a dozen people sitting around their fire place. Instead, I arrived at a big, raucous party with live music. It was a great evening that caught me totally off guard."

It's a big space. A big space
needs more than a couple of servers, even on a slow night. We made the mistake of sitting in a section that was served by a person who was also doubling as the bartender -- and as a result, he was doing a lousy job at both. It was impossible to get another beer. Impossible to get the check. Just a frustrating experience. Never again will I go on a Monday."

So far the best Guinness I've had
outside of Ireland - so smooth, fresh and yummy! The pub is very big yet cozy. The staff are very nice and friendly. There is a parking lot so don't have to search for street parking. The Whiskey Wings are made of chicken breast and were finger licking good! The shepherd's pie is very tasty. The Irish stew with lamb is delicious. The fish and chips is good - next time I will substitute their skinny truffle fries. The sticky toffee cake is very very very good - they make their own cake, whipped cream and toffee (ice cream is Tillamook) - so amazingly delicious!"

They have two happy hours here!
Take advantage you wont be disappointed. One late afternoon, the other late evening. I took too long in trying it my first time with a friend was so good, we went back another day. This Kell's has its own brewery on site!"

We had an informal get-together
for a friend from out of town. I made the reservation on line about a week before for a group of 15 to 20. The day of our event the restaurant called to confirm our reservation. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The food at Kell's is very good and they have great beer. It was loud...it is a pub and lots of people go to Kell's because it is so fun! Our group had a great time. If you are looking for a casual, energetic Irish pub this is your place."

Six of us were looking forward to
a great Irish meal at Kelly's Brew Pub, but all of us were disappointed with the food. Three of us tried to order the lamb shanks only to be told that the kitchen was out of this signature dish. There was no forewarning of this prior to our ordering our meal and we had reservations for 6:00 p.m. It seemed rather odd that the lamb shank is were sold out at 6:00 p.m. especially when considering there were many empty tables and only a small number of diners present. The Irish stew contained very little meat, the fish and chips were soggy as though the oil was not hot enough. This was not the experience any of us expected from Kell's. Maybe we should stick with the original Kell's."

Gerard pours the best draft
Guinness and being from county Cork Ireland he shared stories of the locals that were very interesting. The service was excellent the food was also excellent. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Great atmosphere."

Just wasnt anything to write home
about. Not for the $60 tab for three people. Oh and Fireball should be served cold people. Food was so so. The two Kells didn't have the same menus. I won't go back unless I'm invited"
