Keiko à Nob HillFabulous food and romantic ambienceInnovative fusion food, using the freshest ingredients. Great value too compared to food of similar quality (freshness but not quite in terms is taste though) from Singapore where I come from. Attentive service too and romantic ambience. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all foodies, and I'll definitely be back when I next come back to San Francisco.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Lovely RestaurantIt's pretty much all couples. The service an impeccable ballet of presentations. The food consisted of seven courses that were exquisitely prepared and tastefully displayed. A few folks were photographing their plates. The wine list included prices I didn't know were possible. The chef was very accommodating to my wife's food wishes in spite of fixed menu. She experienced a set of dishes that were almost completely different than mine. The meal seems slightly formal and stiff, but loosened up over the course of the evening. It was a special dining experience and not priced for the faint of heart nor those interested in less than the best. Overall very fun and something worthy of a discerning palette.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWine list pricing is 3 toWine list pricing is 3 to 4 times retail, that is too high. Also the $240 montrachet served was a little past its time, the sommelier should have mentioned that as he tasted it first and knew it. I had guests and chose not to make fuss about it but did not like it especially as the wine was so over priced.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding romantic mealOne of the top 10 meals I ever had. Great food, service and romantic!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA Treasure for the TongueThis restaurant engaged all five senses. Visually the food was beautifully presented. The textures were varied and wonderful. The flavor of every dish was excellent. The restaurant was quiet and intimate. The aroma of each dish was terrific! I thought the whole dining experience was one of the best I have encountered.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReview of Keiko a Nob HillMy visit was the third time at Keiko's and it continued to exhilarate with the ultra-creative and perfect/precise execution. The memorable detailed and favorable were the English pea and lava been soup and the "decadent" oyster ravioli.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExellent !First time experience.
It was more than we expected.
Food is innovative and delicious, and wine pairing is perfect.
Additional course of Wagyu beef is something else.
Desert is the best ever.
It worthy two Michellen stars.
I would defenitely bring my friends and tell others to try.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe good food is outstanding,The good food is outstanding, but it took three hours for all of the courses to be served. There was a lot of time waiting for the next course. Something not controllable by the restaurant was heavy wind out the windows which sounded like a hurricane. We will definitely go back because the food is so good.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special occasions.Great for special occasions. Excellent food. Pricy, old facility.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAmong the many fixed price,Among the many fixed price, multi course restaurants in San Francisco, Keiko a Nob Hill holds its own. It's not the trendiest, or hottest or most over-the-top, but the dishes are creative the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Price-wise, Keiko is less expensive than most but after adding an extra course that was offered, plus corkage, the price was more inline with others.
Something to note is that their wine list is superb, one of the best we'd ever seen, and reasonably priced to boot! A first growth Bordeaux can be had for less than $300, which if you've bought any of that lately, will impress you as a bargain.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is improvingThis restaurant is improving everytime we visit on cleativity, taste and service.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic dinner with serviceA fantastic dinner with service unmatched anywhere. What more could you ask for?4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! A magical special occasionWow! A magical special occasion experience. The food, the ambiance, the service were all 5-star.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a flawless and amazingWe had a flawless and amazing meal with attentive (but not hovering) service. The food is inovative with a wide variety of flavors and textures. The presentation was impecable. Even as the restaurant filled up, the noise level remained low. I look forward to going back for another special occasion.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience at Keiko aOur experience at Keiko a Nob Hill was sublime in every way.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe very definition of a hidden gemA very fine Japanese-inspired, French cuisine with no wrong notes or out of place textures. We will go back!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall superb 7 course meal,Overall superb 7 course meal, artisically presented, unique and delicious4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis dining experience wasThis dining experience was amazing. The individual courses were elegant, like poetry on a platter. All were very flavorful with the finest ingredients I've tasted in a while. The portions were small but filling. We chose the wine pairing with our 7 course meal and found that they perfectly complimented each course. They were from boutique vineyards and were quite delicious. The servers were very attentive and were willing to make adjustments for food preferences, if needed, from the main menu. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant. (A little pricey but well worth the experience.)We will be returning again.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is wonderful:The food here is wonderful: Michelin worthy, Californian cuisine with French and Japanese undertones. The dining room is relatively small, only 7 tables, dark chocolate mocha color, elegant (i.e., "old money" nob hill) and comfortable. We did not want to eat the lamb which was on the prix fix menu and they happily accommodated. This was our fault since they called me the night before just to make sure, but I never retrieved that voicemail (so please make sure to contact them the night before by phone and verify if the items in the menu is acceptable to you palette). The salad was spectacular! Each vegetable was intentionally accounted for as they were placed atop a thin circle of tiny bread crumbs which added to the texture. One of best!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Romantic DinnerWe didn't exactly what to expect at Keiko, but we had a sensational experience, the food, the pairing, service and overall ambiance was up there with the very best not only in San Francisco but across the peninsula....including Los Gatos.
We will come back, no question.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion heavenWe had an exquisite evening. The attention to detail and the beautifully constructed plates are a feast for the eye.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable foodThe tasting menu at Keiko is fresh, surprising and stunning. Allow at least three hours from start to finish. After six or seven courses, my husband and I agreed that there wasn't a miss in the lineup. He was wowed by the carmelized onion mousse with osetra caviar and scallop tartare, and my favorite was the cheese course, which included Keiko's signature gorganzola ice cream on black (or red?) pepper breadcrumbs and some sort of savory "cheesecake." The lobster ravioli, which is now included in the tasting menu and no longer an extra, was terrific, as well. The wine list is impressive, with many older vintages, and equally expensive, but there are some reasonable options, not many, but enough. We'll be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully prepared foodBeautifully prepared food with amazing amount of flavor. Enjoyed the complexity of each dish. Our favorite dish was the arrangement of vegetables. Each was prepared perfectly. Overall, our meal was fantastic. I will be back.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food. One of theOutstanding food. One of the best in San Francisco. Every dish was outstanding. Innovative with an Asian twist. Expensive especially with optional additions bu worth it. Small and quiet. Great for a special occasion.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMKeiko is an absolute MUST!This is the second time in three weeks we've eaten at Keiko. Let me tell you, this is the best restaurant in SF, in our estimation. I don't know where to begin. The inventive food is out of this world. It has subtle Japanese influence, which we love. The presentation is unreal, and the flavors of each dish are clearly carefully created. This time, we came back to try a rare bottle of wine that the Sommalier told us he had and we were not disappointed in the least. The menu was exactly the same as it was three weeks ago, and that wasn't a disappointment in the least. In fact, we were so impressed the first visit, we were delighted that it was the same. This is a beautiful, quiet, quintessential SF restaurant. An ABSOLUTE MUST.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is very inventive, deliciousFood is very inventive, delicious and well balanced. It isn't overly salty, so we can taste the ingredients. Each dish has it's own unique characteristics, which we appreciated. Of the fine restaurants we've been to (Benu, Gary Danko, Melisse in Santa Monica, The Dining Room, Charles Nob Hill-predecessor at this location-,...) this is one of the best. Of course it's no French Laundry, but for less than 1/2 the price it's certainly worth the trip. The dining room is very cozy with only a few tables, so it's easy to overhear other people's conversations. We had a very enthusiatic and flirty lady next to us, which was a bit annoying, but overall it was a great experience for a nice evening out with the hubby without kids. :)3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic tasting menu dinner.Fantastic tasting menu dinner. Each course was amazing. It was a greta romantic restaraunt.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
