And we're surprised not to see anyone dining outside which made us a bit nervous
But when arrived it was packed inside and we were seated right away. Excellent service,

Wine list was expansive and there were many great choices by the glass which is our preference. This was 2nd vist since
March. We are not Chicago residents and Keefers is destination restaurant anytime we are in town.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great ExperienceGreat neighborhood steakhouse (and more) with a lovely large curved bar for cocktails with booths for dining or drinks next to the windows and plenty of tables in the interior dining area. Impeccable service and friendly wait staff. Our filet mignons were absolutely the best we have ever had which says a lot as we do love our steak in TX. Both my husband and I prefer ours cooked almost to medium well which is a hard feat for many restaurants to accomplish without butterflying the filet but the kitchen did a masterful job of cooking the meat to perfection. We had a great server, Kevin, who was charming and attentive throughout the evening. I probably haven't gone before because I sensed that it would be a pricey lunch, and suitable primarily for special occasions. I was very pleased with my food, the service and the overall experience. The menu had many items that sounded delicious. I had a sliced pork belly sandwich, my friend had a London broil sandwich. Both were great. The mixed greens salad that accompanied the sandwich was a bit weak, but the side of green beans was perfect and delicious. Would definitely go back again. The space is modern with hard surfaces and a very high ceiling so the noise level was high, but conversation was easy at our table for two. The fish taco appetizer was recommended by our waiter. The salsa verde was flavorful and had mild heat. Wet aged ribeye and NY strip were prepared expertly to temperature, with great steakhouse flavor that aging brings. The creamed spinach and french green lentils were out of this world. The baked potato was "steamed" and cut open with a knife, so did not have crispy skin or fluffy starch, so falls to "good". When we arrived the room where we were seated was empty, yet we were given the table closest to the wait station clearly the least desirable table in the room. The maitre de spent several moments picking this table and could have chosen many better, as the room was only half full by the time we finished dining. We started with a beet salad which was very flavorful and ordered steaks which were prepared to our order, good but nothing exceptional. The whipped potatoes were quite "soupy" and thin, not whipped. Creamed spinach was excellent. The best part of our experience was our waiter. I was in visiting my Girlfriend and we were looking for a place near her work. I researched and and the decision came down to Keefers, Joes, or Sullivans. I was happy with our decision. I Ordered a Draft beer My girlfriend had red zin. We wer ther for the steaks so we skipped the appetizers. I ordered the porterhouse Medium rare cooked perfectly hot pink edges with a warm red center. I elected the blue cheese crust, very rich, it was good unfortunately it wasnt what my stomach was calling for so i found myself scraping some of it off. My Girlfriend had thefilet ordered medium a nd also cooked perfectly ala Dianne with a smooth redwine and mushrrom sauce.
